(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
bigrod replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I still think we have a good shot at Romeo. We all need to remember that when CAM started, everyone said it was a long shot at best due to relationships having already been built. He has made up tremendous ground in a short time. I get Garland to Vanderbilt. I certainly think there are some fishy things about Shittu's recruitment and limited interest from many schools. Who knows if anything comes out of that, but maybe the Garlands talked him into it. However, there is a long time before he can officially sign, so nothing would surprise me. -

Guys - They're a Nike school. That sort of think only happens at Adidas schools. Nothing to see here or at Oregon. -

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

I saw the post about Langford not coming to IU because he has stated he wants to compete for a national championship, and we are not ready for that. That has been my concern about the likelihood that he comes to Bloomington as well. However, there has also been speculation that he may not be a one-and-done player. Let's say he stays two years. We have a nice class coming in next year already, that would have a year of experience, along with the core we already have. Let's say we add one or more of a group like Brooks, TJD, or Watford. I'm not sure that isn't a group in the discussion for a national title. -

So you're telling me there's a chance... -
I say let them enjoy it now. We know what’s coming, and they have a pretty good idea, if they are honest with themselves. Their problem has always been that their focus is on beating IU, or being better than IU. Let them have their memories of that year they were better than us before we started competing on a national stage again. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

I agree it's a long shot, but I really feel like once it "clicks" for the players, we are going to be a competitive team. Those two early B1G games aren't going to help us at all this year, but if we are playing well in the second half of the season, I think we can sneak in.

If I'm reading their schedule correctly, it looks like they play each other Nov. 28th. I may have to make an attempt to head over to the game. -

I don't disagree with what you are saying. Obviously, CAM sees something in him or is trying very hard to allow him to get his confidence back. In the mean time though, he is absolutely killing us with his haphazard play. It's not just a couple mistakes. He isn't the only one, but he was right there with them. Still making the same mistakes he made as a freshman. -
Thought it was a groin pull.

I was thinking the same last night. At first, I thought having as many new players coming in next year as we do wasn't the greatest scenario. Now, I think the more, the better. We played a pretty decent half and actually showed some mental toughness. I guess we need to look at the positives. That was more than we could say the first two games. If we could just get some players to cut their stupid mistakes in half, we could be pretty competitive.

We are not a smart team. A lot more deprogramming is needed. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I was hoping we would be further along than we are, but I can't say I'm shocked. I honestly don't think we would have looked a ton better under Crean's system though. This is obviously all theoretical, but the D wouldn't have been any better and the shooters aren't there to spread the floor. I think long-term, CAM's system will be better for this team, and moving forward. Also, Hartman wouldn't be here, and most likely Johnson would have moved on. Of course, neither has helped us much so far anyway. -

After a couple seasons, the upperclassmen will get the freshmen a head start on learning the system over the summer. -

Definitely appreciate the insight. It's almost appalling how scatter-brained Crean was though. Now that he's gone, it seems like more and more of these stories are coming out. -

A question I have been dying to ask anyone who may know, even before Garland made his decision, but didn't want to really push the conversation in this direction. It seems Vandy has all of the sudden become this basketball recruiting powerhouse. They are in on all these big time recruits. Many are speculating they have a chance to get all three that they are after. How much do you think Bryce has learned about recruiting from his dad? -

Although, they could be tougher for a lot of these players at a mental or emotional level. -

It's hard to handle expectations being put on you if it has not happened before - even if it is for your own good. Some will shrink, some will grow.
