Take control - It's totally within your power to ignore it. -

I could see this as a real possibility, but this senior class just doesn't have anyone with any kind of mental toughness - the guy that just won't allow us to lose. They really don't seem to have any real passion for the game. If things don't come easy, they just seem to fold. It's really no different than last year, except we have less talent now. I don't know if it is the fault of the former coach or if it is just the personality of these guys, but you never see any real edge from them. Morgan is about the closest we have seen, and I just don't think his personality is strong enough to carry the team. He definitely did against ND, but not sure we can count on that every game. -
I decided to go with Hulu this year to get BTN. As a side benefit, most Pacers games are on there as well. It's kind of cool, because you can set your favorite teams and it automatically records the games if they are available. I've seen more Pacers games already this year than I ever have in the past.

Just need to figure out how to make a player spontaneously guard two positions at the same time. -

I had said yesterday that you don't lose to IPFW by 20 on your home court and not shoulder some of the blame. That's coaches, players, and whoever scheduled that game as well. I was thinking today that this is a little like when Davis took over, but in opposite ways. I always felt Davis was able to take the players Knight had drilled the fundamentals into and allow them to play more loose, and that was how he had success (until those players were gone). This is the same, but instead you are taking players that are used to playing a loose style, and throwing a bunch of rules at them. Once they get tired, they seem to revert back to what they know best. Some say that CAM needs to adjust to his players, and I get that. But I also get that he is trying to install a system that he thinks will eventually be worth the growing pains. It's like driving a car - when your new to it, you have to think about everything. After you've driven a few years, you don't know how you even ended up at work half the time. I have friends who say that teams are too perimeter oriented to make the pack-line work, and I get that. But I also think that we are just not playing it well yet. I don't see teams putting in 17 threes against Virginia. -

Sad thing is, I wouldn’t want to play them again either. Newkirk wouldn’t start for IPFW, and I doubt Rojo would. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app -

I've seen a few comments that blame CAM for not making changes during the game, I don't think it is that simple. If the players are struggling to learn just 1 defensive set (which seems to be a completely new concept to some on this team), what makes anyone think that switching to another defense during a game will be any better? These guys struggle to move the ball on offense, close out on defense, get out of their own heads, not turn the ball over, feed the post, find the open guy, communicate, move laterally, stay with their guy; they are obviously not capable of making a switch from pack-line to a zone or something else during a game. I like CAM, so like many others, I’ve been giving him a pass with this team. But, you can’t lose to IPFW at home by 20 and not shoulder some of the blame. If nothing else, we’ve got to start seeing what some other players can do during a game. I totally get he wants guys to practice hard, but some guys shrink when the lights are brightest. I heard the NCAA will allow a scholarship to be switched mid-year, but only if you are taking fake classes at a university that has won a title in the last 5 years.

The more games they play, the more it seems CAM's personality and mentality is coming out on this team. I seem to remember him saying something to the effect that you want to be the team that no one wants to play, regardless of talent level. We may be seeing signs of this team heading in that direction. -

Last year it was the beginning of the end. This year it will be the beginning of.. ah.. the beginning! IU - 88 FW - 61 -
Cal me crazy, but I still think there is a good chance Romeo comes to IU .I'll be disappointed if Romeo decides to go elsewhere, but I also remember all the "experts" saying CAM was coming into it too late to get him. Let's face it though, as much talk as there is about closing the deal, etc., no one can force a kid to come to a school. You can only show them the the reasons why you think it is best for them. Quite frankly, it's possible that our program is a year or two away from being that for Romeo. For that reason, it would be truly baffling to me if he decided to go anchors down.

We must have been talking in different circles, because I don't remember anyone that I know thinking Crean would have us in by the second year.

There was something with him and Hanner too. I can't remember exactly what it was, but I swear they were threatening to have him deported if he didn't go to Baylor.
