What was your first/earliest memory of...
bigrod replied to Old Friend's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Mine is the "81 Championship game against NC. I was staying at my cousin's house to watch the game with him. I have pretty vivid memories of that day with the President being shot earlier in the day. -
Why did he say, "Nearly 10?"
-
Nice to go out undefeated for a change.

Exactly. They've never been wrong before. (also sarcasm) -

That's funny. I can't stand that piped in laughter. I'm just thinking of a guy sitting there with different applause noises and he has to quickly decide if this was a highlight so that he can nail the correct applause level. -

I was thinking the same thing about the players. I wonder how many of those exchanges will be audible. -

So, if we lose the first game in the BTT, do we make it? I doubt it. Not convinced we make it if we go 1-1. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

Tired of seeing us get beat on our own floor. We used to have an advantage. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

Yeah, I'm not confident either. We haven't shown that we are a very mentally resilient team, so I'm concerned that since we beat them there, we will come in with the wrong mindset. Plus, they may think they are playing for their coach's job. And then, I look at yesterday's game results... -
I guess they have to scrap, "You complete me."

POTFB Game Thread: Indiana Hoosiers vs. Purdue Boilermakers (2/27 at 7PM on FS1)

I thought I read somewhere that we hit a new all-time low for points per possession on Kenpom. Anyone know if that's true? -
I hope you're right about Leal.

I agree. I like Durham, and he has improved probably more than any other player during this period at IU, but he is coming off the bench on most B1G teams. THe jury is still out on Phinisee though. He's a sophomore. Not sure we can conclude he has reached his peak.

No team is totally healthy at this time of the season. Almost all teams have injuries they deal with throughout the season.

This is the frustrating part. That team is not as talented as we are, but they out work us. Quite frankly, they just care. I'm not convinced there are more than a handful of guys on our roster that even care about wins and losses. -

That's funny. The first time I saw him play (I think maybe the Butler game), I asked by buddy, "Who's that old dude out there? He looks like he's my age!" I'm 54. -

Seriously, what is wrong with him that he is incapable of changing a lineup unless injuries dictate? Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app -

I totally agree with the concepts, but until we show we are a consistent threat to make those shots, I don't think we pull the defenders out with us. They will at least "hedge" toward the basket. -
But like you said, you don't have to play them. If you really want a player to leave, but the admin says no, you don't play him and he will most likely decide to leave on his own.

My issue is that you are starting the guy every game and he rarely comes out. To me, you are telling the rest of the team that this is the type of player you need to be to be successful here. Meanwhile, the guy looks disinterested 90% of the time. That's a bad precedent to set.
-
I'm guessing it's the same guy that starts every game and rarely sees the bench.

So, I've gone from fully believing Archie was going to be the answer, to hoping he could put together a decent team, to realizing he just doesn't have it. For a while I thought he was too stubborn to change anything, but now I think he is just not capable. He seems to be the only one who still thinks he has a system that can beat anyone, any place, with whatever time to prepare. How long can you continue to beat that square peg into the round hole before you realize it will not fit? I'm guessing at least 4 years. But seriously, what good coach is out there who is willing to take over this program? I know many keep acting like we can just throw money around and get whoever we want, but I just don't see that happening. I want to believe that the next one will finally be the right coach, but nothing I have seen makes me think we won't whiff yet again.
