Candidate Thread: Scott Drew (Baylor)
bigrod replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm starting to come around on Drew. I think as long as we do our due diligence and make sure everything is on the up and up. I really enjoyed yesterday's game. We really need a coach with a style that appeals to college players, and they are a fun team to watch. -
Just don’t see how you go from Stevens to Woodson. Makes absolutely no sense at all. Gotta believe this is a smoke screen or just total bull.
-
Only matters if it’s true. In that case, we will definitely be laughingstocks.

Starting to come around on Drew. Would be nice to have a coach who can beat Wisconsin.

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

I’ve wondered if this is all just to get things to calm down too. Pretty unlikely, but who knows. If one of BS conditions was to finish out the season, they had to do something. I guess the longer this goes without a move in another direction, the more likely it becomes. -

Can you give any general details on what happened? -
Didn’t realize Lewis has his own thread. I just posted in another that I could get behind Lewis just as much as Fife.
-
Just curious, why do we think Fife would be a better head coach than Lewis? I do understand that Fife has been a head coach a while back, but Lewis has also been an assistant under some pretty good coaches. I think I could I could get behind Lewis just as much as Fife.

Actually, you really can’t. People can say and think whatever they want and you can’t change it. Perception is a funny thing. Live your life to the best of your ability and let the chips fall where they may. I can speak to a roomful of people and it’s amazing how many ways the things I’ve said get taken. People are greatly influenced by their own experiences and those don’t change easily. Sorry... I’m jumping off my soapbox now. -

The older I get, the less I care about what others think and say. You really can’t control it anyway. It’s very freeing. -

Who knows, maybe everything was decided and Stevens came up with some other demand at the end and we backed out. -

It’s possible, although maybe not probable. It did cross my mind that this was all a way to let him finish out the season. Again, not probable, but nothing in this seems to be. -

At the end of the day, it’s all speculation based on people who talked to other people. If anyone thought that was rock solid, well, I really don’t know what to tell you. I for one enjoyed the ride. On to the next candidate! -

Holtmann hasn’t done well in tournaments overall. -

I look at it this way: As much as I hate to say it, this is the most interest I have had in IU basketball all year. Whether or not this ends up happening, I think we can be pretty sure that "there's a new sheriff in town" and he isn't content with the mediocrity that has been IU basketball for the last several years. Just knowing that brings my interest back. I hope it's Stevens, but if not, I know they are going after the best person they can possibly get. I'm positive we are going to end up in better shape than we have been for quite some time. -

I do agree with whomever posted about him coaching the Celtics with a deal done for another team. It doesn't seem like the Celtics would want that. -

Can someone explain Isaiah’s role in this? Never really quite understood that. -

I feel like the Indiana fans I know appreciate fundamentally sound, well coached teams. I think most know this won’t be an immediate turnaround, and are willing to let the next coach build his success. Obviously I can’t speak for everyone, but I think most just want to see effort and improvement. Obviously at some point, we want another banner, but no one should be expecting it in the next couple years. Let’s make the tournament first!
