Who leaves the program first; Darren Hiller or Tom Allen?
bigrod replied to IUFootballHappyHappyJoyJoy's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
So they both leave at the same time... -
I'll take Calbert Cheaney. I know it wasn't a choice, but if we are playing make-believe, let's do it. Of the choices, I say Vonleh as well. He can play inside and out and pull defenders away from the basket.

I guess we should be happy about the win, but it wasn't really an inspiring win. Reich is killing this team. Ryan looks like a guy who is no longer confident in his arm, and probably with good reason. The O-line is a joke. We have a really good guard but don’t really feel the need to get a decent LT. At some point, you have to wonder how long Ballard and Reich are allowed to keep sticking to their plan before someone starts questioning the plan. But hey, let’s have a .500 season and see what washed up QB and LT we can get and talk up in the off season. Those are throwaway positions because we have a great guard.

Let's go with this theory -
My memory isn't what it used to be, but this is what I remember about Edwards - he was the guy you wanted taking the game winning shot. He never really seemed to get sped up. He had ice water in his veins and you just expected him to make the clutch shot. If I remember correctly, Edwards started his freshman year coming off the bench. We weren't having a great start to the season, but once we went to the 3 guard lineup with Edwards, the season turned around.

He killed them today, but the whole team lacked any aggressiveness. They were flat on offense and defense for 90% of the game. In a way, it would have been a shame if they would have come back and won this. It was JT and a bunch of other guys who did very little to help his effort. Still don’t have any receivers outside of Pittman who can catch the ball. Frank is like a bipolar coach. He’s either unnecessarily aggressive or afraid to do anything. I’m pretty sure he has gotten worse every year as a head coach. For a team that wanted to break their first game losing streak, they looked like they thought all they had to do was show up.

Is that him in the picture? He looks like Bracey Wright.

Ok, so maybe we broke a few rules. Shouldn't we get credit for just not being very good at it??? -

Sometimes they cut them early as a favor knowing that they are more likely to be picked up by someone else. Maybe that was the case here? -

I guess this would be classified under "No good deed goes unpunished." -
I really think (hope) that TJD, X, and Race have fewer minutes per game than last year. I think that will be an indication that we are not only better and deeper, but winning games by a wider margin and getting young guys more experience. Hopefully that allows the core guys to be fresher at the end of the season.

I think recruiting is fun to watch and speculate, but there is so much that can happen in these relationships, either way, that we don't have access to. A recruit could be all in half-way through the visit, and then hear or see some things that changes his mind. The same can be said for the staff. I'm sure there are times where the staff gets to spend more time around some players and realize for whatever reason that they aren't a good fit. You don't just cancel the visit, but obviously your pitch probably changes a bit at that point. There are ways for either party to send signals that the attitude has changed. Sometimes you don't let on until the visit is over. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't think it is as black and white as some on here make it out to be. Sometimes you spend a bunch of time wooing a girl and then once you get a chance to really spend time with her, you realize she requires a lot more maintenance than you have in your budget. Or maybe you notice her Adam's apple. Who knows, but things can and do change. -

Tough call on this kid. He doesn't seem overly enthused about IU, but you kind of get the impression he is being more logical about his choice and trying to keep his emotions in check. -
But - what have you done for me lately? There are a few more players I'd like you to chat with!

This is my hope. I really don’t see getting Woody being coach for 10 years. It would be nice to see Lewis ready to take over when he retires.
-
I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but I think we need to develop a culture where players come here and get better. Assistants can play a big role there, but it takes time. Relationships are pretty important for us right now. We need current players to get better in the off-season. Winning solves a lot of this. If Woody had Carolina’s talent coming in, his offense would have looked much better. It’s no secret we need shooters, either developed from inside or recruiting (preferably both). If Geronimo can develop more of a consistent outside shot, he is huge for us next year.

Exactly what I thought. Don't be PO'ed when a coach calls time out in response to what you are doing. He's got his bench in. He is trying to run the game out. Believe me, I will never be a Gard defender, but in this case, He called time because Howard decided to press his bench players. Howard was still playing ball, but Gard isn't supposed to?

Wow. My memory isn't what it once was. I didn't remember him averaging 10 points as a freshman. I knew he and Pat were both highly regarded, but didn't remember him starting off that well. May have something to do with my alcohol consumption during those years. -

Anyone think he could be a Greg Graham type player? He was a little slow to get going coming in, but ended up being a really nice player. He seems to have many of the same traits. -

I'm glad that Woody is instilling discipline and letting them know it won't be tolerated. I hope the rest of the team let's them know about it too. Hopefully they learn from it. Having said that, I'm glad no one was around to discipline me every time I did something stupid when I was their age!
