Right there with you...

My dad has Alzheimer's and my father-in-law is fighting cancer. It does get to a point and you just wish for them to have a peaceful passing. Neither of them is living the life they wanted or would choose at this point. Losing independence can be pretty crushing for people who crave that in their lives.

Ball State Transfer C Payton Sparks to Indiana and back to Ball State
bigrod replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Very true - we need someone who can come in and get rebounds, put-backs, and play D. Although, if he hit a 3 every now and again, I wouldn't mind at all. -
No BDBJ for you? ;-)

Dusty May - FAU HC - Former IU student manager
bigrod replied to ISP's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
One of the guys on Indy radio knows him and talks to him. I’m sorry, I can’t remember for sure which one. Anyway, he made it clear that Dusty isn’t sitting around waiting for IU to call, but also said he was sure he would listen sometime in the future, if the timing was right. In my opinion, his style needs time to learn and buy in by his players. I’m not sure that many on here would be patient enough because we’re probably not getting the best recruits and all the shiny new objects every year. He does seem like the type of coach who is willing to adapt to his players strengths, but that also doesn’t necessarily lend itself to a constant churn at the top end of the roster. His team is definitively fun to watch and I was surprised by how talented they were, because all I ever read was they don’t have top end talent. They are also very disciplined and fundamentally sound, which I think makes them look more talented than maybe they really are. Just watching their positioning on D and not falling for every fake by the other team was really fun to see. -
1 in a pinch or for the backup's backup, but not long term.

Anyone think there's a chance if we get a couple really good players in the portal, someone else decides to leave?

March Madness 2023 BTown Banners Brackets
bigrod replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I came in second in our work bracket with 59 points. The winner had 61. We, too, are already maxed out on points. I knew it would be a wide open year, but wow, it's hard to predict the final 4 we ended up with. -
I don’t think there’s been anything official yet.

Well, Miller was here...

One of my friends said he was hearing he was staying too. Again, doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Coaching Changes Nationally

It's amazing. We never have any (supposed) candidates when we truly need them! -
Coaching Changes Nationally
bigrod replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I hope not too! I don't think FAU will ever be a powerhouse, but now that they have some notoriety, he could legitimately stay there for a few years and have a nice program, until his dream job came calling. -

I'll Be The Optimist For Once
bigrod replied to Loaded Chicken Sandwich's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Not suggesting he knows everything, but I have a friend who spoke to one of the national recruiting analysts. He asked him to compare Smith and Cupps. Long story short, he said Cupps was better. -
Whenever I watched her, I was just always impressed by her toughness, both mentally and physically. She's the kind of player that can will her team to victory. Quite honestly, she's one of the players that made me start paying attention to women's basketball. I'll miss watching her play for IU.

I think that kind of gives it away. I get it, but you have to produce if you want to get paid. Well, I mean that's how it used to work ;)

I find this super interesting considering what we thought the bench was going to be and what it ended up being.

I'm not sure what this means. Are you saying current IU players or portal players or neither?
