Wasn't this the game where Knight said something to the effect, I thought we were in trouble until I looked down at the other bench and saw Dale Brown, and then I knew we had a chance?

That sounds nice. My job doesn't necessarily lend itself to working from home. I think I worked from home 2-3 times during the whole pandemic. Other than that, I was at work every day. -

You already know you are going to be off tomorrow? -
That's why I'm not a big fan of trading up for the first pick. You lose an awful lot of draft capital and I don't see a QB who is head and shoulders above the others. I think it's just as likely, in this year's draft especially, that the 4th pick will be as good as the first pick. I'm not sure that trading back to the 10th pick wouldn't be just as good, long-term.

Passion? I know, it's hard to spot anymore.

If memory serves, Moren's first couple of years weren't that great. Lots of questions about players leaving and culture. But as she got the players in that she wanted, its been building on success year after year. -

You’re right! My bad - I took the 10-13 to be two point field goals and one of those is a 3. -

I'm not saying anything. No more crypto for me... -
I went to the Clippers game on the 31st and thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife has told a few people since that she was "just along for the ride" but she really enjoyed it too. (I think she has a thing for Haliburton now.) They definitely have a nice young core to build around. My only complaint was Paul George scoring 45 and the refs calling phantom fouls on anyone who closely guarded their two (former Pacer) stars.

Mathematically, I agree. Do I get gold instead of crypto now? -

Not to nitpick, but the second stat line cannot be correct. That adds up to 18 points. -
Wonder what Chris007 has heard. I'm guessing he'll sit the next couple games either way, and then they're off a week. Obviously if it's broken, it'll be longer. If the back spasms come back for JHS, it definitely won't be good. Gallo is serviceable at the point for short periods, but definitely not going to be a good full-time answer. Who else is there after that?

I get that, but it seems like we are always a player or two (or 10) away. I thought we had finally turned the corner a couple years ago, but it has been an absolute train wreck since. I think Deboer (and Penix) made a huge difference. That is the price of success - your assistants get poached. From the outside looking in, it sure seems like the OL was mishandled. Everyone but Allen knew a change had to be made, and it may have cost them some other good coaches. Not sure why it always seems so dysfunctional. I'm just not sure Allen can be trusted to make the right decisions year in and out. But he's made his bed, now it's up to him to get it corrected. I guess I don't have a lot of faith. The frenetic rah-rah stuff is no longer working. Not sure what else he has.

It's unfortunate. I used to be the ultimate optimist about IU football. Every year I would get sucked in and think, this is finally going to be the year. I can't say that anymore. I just have no hope for the current trajectory of the program. Feels like it's on life support and everyone refuses to make a decision on pulling the plug. It's really unfortunate that we can't have a team that is close to .500 every year and makes a nice run every few years.

I read the book about it a few years ago. I would have been 12 when it happened, but I really don't remember anything about it. Very good book though.

IUMS NCAA Tournament Thread
bigrod replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
I can't claim to know a lot about soccer, but I watched the game. I was a little surprised that the refs allowed Syracuse to push and grab players as much as they did. After a while, I just felt like if that is the way the game was going to be called, IU needed to start playing more that way. I thought Syracuse was clearly the better and more aggressive team in the first half, and IU in the second, but it just seemed to me that the Syracuse players had better individual skills than IU. The Syracuse players seemed to have better control the ball than IU did. All in all, except for the outcome, it was a pretty entertaining game. For a 13 seed to make it to the final is a good accomplishment. Hopefully they can build on it and come back next year. -
I used to watch ESPN all the time, but now its only when I want to see a game, for the reasons you just described. It used to be taboo to discuss politics in public, unless you were a politician. Now it almost seems like a requirement.

I think we CAN win if JHS plays and isn't limited. I think we've seen in the last couple games, Rutgers especially, that he is a stabilizing force for the team, but especially X. They need this win. NC isn't proving to be that impressive at this point. Plenty of time to improve this season, but I'm hoping not to prove Lavall Jordan right. -
Thanks! We may go ahead and watch the women's team play on the New Year's Day too. Still deciding if we have time to fit that one in.

Since the Hoosiers don't have a game between the holidays, I decided to go see the Pacers On New Year's eve (3pm). Looking forward to seeing them in-person.
