Candidate Thread: Nate Oats (Alabama)
goonaha replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I didn't realize that both Nate Oats and Tom Allen went to Maranatha Baptist. -
I said I'm hearing some buzz (that he's going to be the guy). I'm now here looking for corroborating evidence. I don't know if it's legit or not.

I've heard some buzz here today. Know @Chris007 is probably a little burned by the Stevens 'no' but curious if anyone else is hearing things here.

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)
goonaha replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Things have gotten quiet because it's the Saturday of the first round of the tournament. There are multiple coaching candidates that are still in the tournament. We aren't getting a new coach for at least a week, probably more like 3-4 weeks. -

Alford won't be hired or even considered. Not sure how many times people need to be told that. -

To me, it's the fact that his "kids" are actually in college or will be in college within a couple of years. His ex-wife is empty nesting soon so I think that drastically reduces the pull of Texas. $6M a year also enables you to charter a lot of private jets. -

You think we're spending $24M before even getting to salaries to hire Nate Oats? I don't. -

I don't think most people know he's not leaving TX for family reasons. That's an obstacle for sure, but I don't know why you're presenting it is fact. It's certainly a lower obstacle than a $14M buy out for Oats who has publicly said no already. -

Curious why this thread has more activity than Beard, when there's no way IU is paying his buyout and he publicly said he's not interested. Meanwhile Beard has a far lower buyout and has flirted with us in the last week. -

It's not. It's their backup Twitter. The link takes you to an actual blog which is just some random tweets already shared in here. -

I can't trust ISP, sorry. Need to hear a time from Chris or 0708 before I get giddy. -

Which is what Rabby said in his post.... the smoke is turning into a wildfire. -

To defend Rabby, I think it's natural to be more conservative when you're a public member of the media. If you're aggressive with takes and get burned, you lose credibility quick and risk losing future sources. This board allows for some more looseness due to the anonymity. It's encouraging as supplemental evidence as Chris said. -

I just find it hard to believe Stevens would stay on as Celtics coach for rest of season without Ainge or players finding out. They would quit on him immediately. Lame duck coach for a floundering fringe playoff team just wouldn't work. If he says (or said) yes, he surely has to move now (as in within the next week depending on Celtics contract issues) -

"Hanscom Field is a public use airport operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority, located 14 mi outside Boston in Bedford, Massachusetts, United States. Hanscom is mainly a general aviation airport, the largest in New England. " -

Why wouldn't they just fly straight into Monroe County Airport? Bedford also is pretty far from Boston. Seems like a lot of unnecessary driving. -

He probably would've walked on at IU if we didn't botch the Oden/Conley recruitment. That's the only reason he went to OSU. -

I need to lay down...... -
Almost positive they'd be wearing masks in an airport if it were taken today. Stevens would get in trouble for breaking league protocol otherwise. Old pic.
-
They moved Stevens up to 3rd on the hot board, which they say is based on mutual interest, behind Beard at 1 and Beilein at 2.
-
I can't tell where Chris is just being optimistic and joking around and when he's dropping actual intel. Is Dolson actually meeting with Stevens today in person?
-
Assuming your'e talking about Butler under Stevens (not Beard), they were consistently in the 40s for Kenpom adjO. I'd say that's pretty good for a Horizon league (at the time) program.
