I agree he's better than the last two but that's no guarantee he's going to have better results.
-
I certainly don't hate him but it just isn't an exciting hire. He's a guy that did well at Drake and for a year at WV. Perhaps he'd be great, but there's nothing about him that fires me up.

As a former military brat, sometimes you just don't get a choice. I remember more than once, my dad coming home and saying, "Sorry, kids. We're leaving in 3 months".
-
This whole process really has been a Wicked Game.
-
It can't be Brownell because his record in conference at Clemson is just over .500, and Beard haters said that's unacceptable.
-
I believe it's by design as well. Knight showed them what happens when the coach becomes larger than life, they couldn't control him in the way that they wanted. Once he was gone, they decided to make sure it never happens again. Milquetoast losers are right up their alley.
-
Speaking only for myself, but "out of left field" usually translates to "You will hate this".

Indiana Coach Ben McCollum

He'd be ICBM, coming at you like a nuclear missile.

They're too busy investigating the secret breaking bad meeting, I guess.
-
There's a difference between "I heard Joe Blow is being interviewed" and what you said, which was: So YOU get to decide which rumors are viable? GTFOH
-
Until I see ANYTHING outside of a message board or twitter rumor, it's BS on it's face. If you have some sort of proof, offer it up. Otherwise it's just more "Stevens and Dolson at the breaking bad house" nonsense.
-
No, but when people make a flat statement like that and I know it's BS, I like to call it out.
-
When did this happen? I didn't see any reports on ESPN or anything about this. Got a link or are you just spouting off the same message board rumors?
-
Does this mean UT gets all the credit for firing him but none of the shame for hiring him in the first place? I smell BS on this guy's info.
-
Exactly, nobody knows if this ever happened. So why should I give it any credence?
-
Sorry, just because I buy a shirt or hat, I'm not a part of IU athletics. And if anyone came up to me to ask why I support a coach who did "something bad", I'd say it's not my problem. I just watch the occasional sporting event. It's not that deep.

You're right, Few is probably a raging alcoholic and there must be dozens of people with anecdotal evidence of his public drunkenness. Strike him off the list!
-
The moralists on this board should be more concerned about Drew getting put on probation for cheating. I also remember him getting a reprimand from the B12 for negative recruiting tactics. Although, Bill Self was a major complainer about that and he's no angel himself.
-
I'll go you one better: IU should've fired Knight instead of giving him the "Zero Tolerance" freebie. The we could've hired Bill Self. Knight got the "zero tolerance" warning in May 2000. Bill Self got hired at Illinois in June 2000. If Knight gets fired in May, there's a great chance Self takes the job and never leaves.
-
I have great news: If you aren't on the team or work for the IU basketball operation, you won't be part of it.
-
Should Ole Miss fire him immediately?
-
Why would a millionaire coach go get drunk in campus bars? Why aren't there pics online of him doing this, like the Urban Meyer stuff? Shouldn't there be proof out there that it's actually happening?

And SMU has a jack ton of money as well. They had donors pony up the cash to put SMU in the ACC and took $0 of TV money. SMU is a serious school.

90% of the public has no idea about who might be the president of their local university. If Beard is hired, no one is going to come at the president, they'll go after the AD. And I haven't heard about the citizens of Oxford storming the administration offices about Beard. The president at UT during Beard's firing wasn't damaged by it. He eventually left and is now the president at SMU.
