    PSA- Indiana University Students

News this morning spread quickly that Indiana University had tragically lost one of their own. As many of you are aware, Indiana Freshman Rachael Fiege, 19 Zionsville, was taken off life support this morning after falling down a basement staircase at a party early Friday morning. Fiege was rushed to the hospital approximately 6 hours after her fall, but it was unfortunately too late. This tragic situation was made worse by the reluctance to seek medical attention. Nobody knows if the outcome could have been different if the authorities were called immediately, but they certaintly couldn't have turned out worse. This leads to the reason for this article. Indiana has a unique law called the LifeLine Law. The Lifeline Law provides immunity for the crimes of public intoxication, minor possession, minor consumption, and minor transportation of alcohol to persons who reveal themselves to law enforcement while seeking medical assistance for a person suffering from an alcohol-related health emergency. Translation: If you and your friends are out drinking, and somebody gets seriously hurt, call 911 or get them to the hospital. As long as you follow the following conditions, you WILL NOT be in trouble for your underage drinking. In order to receive immunity, the person must demonstrate that they are acting in good faith by completing ALL of the following: - Providing their full name any other relevant information requested by law enforcement officers - Remaining on the scene until law enforcement and emergency medical assistance arrives - Cooperating with authorities on the scene Translation: Be a good friend and do everything you can to help them. The three "conditions" listed above are common sense and a no-brainer for helping your injured friend. This law is there to help you make the RIGHT decision and avoid a potentially tragic situation like this. Please share this message to all Hoosiers and hopefully prevent future tragedies like this one. R.I.P Rachael Fiege.
  3. EDITOR's NOTE: This article was written in 2013 after the tragic death that shook Bloomington's campus last year. This is a good reminder to all INDIANA students of a helpful law that can prevent tragedies like this. This article isn't about Basketball, Football, Soccer or any other Indiana athletic team for that matter. This article is about potentially saving a friend, peer or fellow Hoosier.News this morning spread quickly that Indiana University had tragically lost one of their own. Big 10 Tournament

Yup... So basically we need to Beat    -Michigan -Illinois -Michigan -MSU/ OSU to have a glimmer of hope.  Obviously win the championship and you get in.  I still think IU could get in with Winning their next 4.  As that would be beating 5 ranked teams in the last 7 games.  Who knows though, probably would have to win it all.

    Sports Parents

[quote name="DocLibby" post="37162" timestamp="1392181026"]I know a lot a parents that SHOULD post bc they have a lot to say but instead they stick to a low mumble for fear of reticule. Also "sports administrators" of the university are ALWAYS lurking and policing on these sites so freedom of speech only applies if you are anonymous. I've contemplated having an alter ego (twitter, Instagram, Btownbanners) so I can publicly blow my top when I need to! It's not easy as a player parent to say what we want. Fortunately for the university I'm a "happy" parent so they don't have to worry too much about me, but some parents are best left mumbling to themselves. Believe me when I tell you! 24. Over the last 4 months, we have really enjoyed providing a place for Hoosiers to talk sports and discuss our favorite teams.  During this time we have experienced tremendous growth which is both GREAT and frustrating.  With increased growth, websites need more bandwidth, servers, CPU capacity and much much more that we did not know about 4 months ago.     While our site has grown, we know there have been issues with the servers, the dreaded "SQL Errors" and much more that our members have had to deal with.  We do not take these situations lightly.  We have upgraded our servers THREE times, increased our CPU capacity by 1,000% and reduced the SQL Errors by 500%.  We are committed to making this place the best Indiana Hoosiers message boards on the internet.   After countless hours with our web team, we feel like we are finally closing in on some of the major issues that have caused us problems.  Some of these issues are from the constant demand from the BtownBanners App.  While this is a GREAT service and we are very excited for how well this has been received (over 5,000 downloads!), it does provide a strain against the visitors from the computer.  A revised App has already launched on Google Play, and is currently being reviewed by the Apple team now.  BtownBanners 1.2 is more efficient and should cause less strain on our servers and site.  Please bare with us as we continue to work out the kinks over the coming weeks and months.   If you have ANY questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at BtownBanners@gmail.com, or message our Admin or Mod team to communicate an idea, comment or concern.   We appreciate your contributions to the site, and we look forward to watching the Hoosiers battle for a spot in the big dance this March. Thank you again for sticking with us through our growth process, we promise to continually work at improving and delivering you the top notch service you are looking for.   Go BtownBanners, and Go HOOSIERS!   Jason B.
