That PSU result is the one that stands out as truly atrocious. Losing to a Big East team, especially in a close game is acceptable as far as losses go. Getting blown out by a Sub-100 A-10 team though is as bas it gets. The Nittany Lions may be a bottom team in the Big Ten and UMass a good A10 team. Still at worst that discrepancy should be a close game. Not a blowout. Looks like a long year for PSU again.

Most brutal draw possible. Louisville or Bowling Green are no joke and hardest second round game in a while. Traveling all the way to Seattle (when many closer options were available) sucks against maybe the best team in country. Duke would be just as hard in Elite 8. Only break is if we get to head to paper tiger SLU for Elite 8 because they pull an upset but don't expect it. We have the talent to do this in one game scenario, but this is hardest draw I have seen us get since at least 2015 by a large margin.

Yes he has. He has been mostly good as I said, but there were times (mostly early) where he had some unexplainable slip ups on D. It was much better during Big Ten play which is why he won the award as that as only conference games. Early in non-conference season though he had a few hiccups. Along with most of team (except Bezerra) he got much better as season went on. -

People need to clam down. This is not the year we expected, but it is still a solid one that was rescued from the abyss early in the season. Yes they will be a top 16 seed (RPI 13) when bracket is revealed tomorrow. Very likely traveling for Sweet 16 and Elite 8 unless there is an upset, but decent chance we are back at Notre Dame for Sweet 16 in 4-13 game (which is the one top team we have beaten and ND is known for flaming out sometimes). A Sweet 16 appearence while not perfect is still a decent season. I wish it was better, but after how things started team deserves a lot of credit for making something out of this. This team has its limits offensively, and every time we go up against a top attack (Maryland, PSU, Michigan, Akron, even ND win) we have issues on backline, but in a one game scenario we have the talent to do this. As I said RPI has its limits and whoever is facing PSU in NCAA Tourney is in trouble as that attack is probably one of the top 5 most dangerous in country with four legit scorers in Blowyou, Butts, Mangione and Kuhn. My only complaint is Bezerra looks like he would rather not be here at times and has not had the season you would hope which is why we are pretty good and not Elite. Celentano has been top notch again in goal and Sarver and Mihalic have had terrific freshmen seasons. Munie has struggled at times on D but nothing horrible. The major difference this year is Bezerra's flame out and I have no idea what has happened there. Everyone else has been as good or better than I would expect. -

PSU is an example of where RPI has it's limits. Nittany Lions in 20's but absolutely a top 10-15 team and deserve a top 16 seed (along with IU) if they win today. My eyes tell me Akron, Maryland, PSU and Notre Dame operate on a different level than IU's other opponents as top 10-15 teams and on par with Hoosiers despite RPI's that are lower. -

Auto cancelling is super simple and I do it every June, July and August when IU sports are not played. -

Also for the month of November, that will give you access to IU's (home) NCAA Tournament Soccer games and several Women's Basketball games. I know many hate BTN+ but I don't mind it. As someone who watches most of IU's 24 sports, it is worth the $10 a month from Sep to May to watch everything. -

NW had not done it this yr with new coach in regular season, but now gone full Lenhahan park bus mode despite him being gone and have done it throughout Big Ten Tournament. Frustrated Maryland to PK's and now taken IU to Golden Goal OT. No one had done that to IU this year yet (besides Omaha) and it frustrated them to no end and could not create an attack becuase of it. 0-0 after 90. -

NW still has a bit of Lenahan in them parking bus a bit on D but not as egregious as when he coached. -

Off to PSU with win Sunday. Win today likely clinches bye in NCAA Tournament regardless of result Sunday. -

That is basically the same as always. Only difference is that small lot across from the church is unavailable it looks like. The lot behind Assembly Hall (Green Lot) is always the main parking place for a soccer game. -

IU really lucky not to go do down a goal early as Rutgers looked like better team in all facets and Hoosiers fortunate a Rutgers player slipped in front of net on a cross or Scarlet Knight's have easy goal. However, IU needs very little to make you pay and they do that with Sarver getting free and taking pass for a goal. 1-0 15 min left first half. -

I missed this, but the committee put out their top 16 and seeds for the NCAA Tournament. We barely made the cut at 15: https://www.ncaa.com/news/soccer-men/article/2021-10-29/division-i-mens-soccer-committee-reveals-top-16 Our RPI is 16 at the moment, This release was before VCU victory (around 30 RPI) and Maryland loss (around 20 RPI) which probably cancel each other out so we are in similar spot. Hate having to travel all the way to Oregon St for Sweet 16. If we could just get a little higher and maybe travel to UK, Pitt, Marshall or ND those are at least in driving distance. Probably need to win Big Ten Tourney to get into top 8 (and beat Maryland and PSU in process as I don't think victories over other teams would move us much higher than 10-15 even if we won the thing). Right now though I would just like to get a bit higher and at least hold onto the first round bye and get a better spot if we have to travel in sweet 16. We have not had to play an NCAA Tournament game on the road since 2015 as we have been seeded in top 8 since so all the games have been either in Bloomington or at neutral site for College Cup and COVID Tournament last year. However, this year we may very well be travelling for Sweet 16 after second round home game (assuming we beat Rutgers) baring an unexpected run in the Big Ten Tournament. -

We lost the Big Ten Title with that horrible performance against Rutgers who has played terribly since they beat us. Win that and you are champions even with a loss today. Maryland is really good and probably the best team we played this year. Notice how every time we ran Sarver or Endeley on a breakaway they were with them step for step while the other teams recently were leaving way to much space for them resulting in goals. Even when Endeley got around the goalie, the D was disciplined and right there to clean it up. Most teams cannot do that. We played four elite teams this year with mixed results. We stole a game against ND they dominated, played really well against Akron before settling for a tie, beat PSU in a game we played well and got lucky with an own goal, and then today. Somehow we ended up playing the four best teams on our schedule on road and went 2-1-1. The losses that were absolutely despicable were the Creighton and Rutgers game where we failed to show up and got owned by teams we are a lot better than. Also took a loss to a Michigan team that will probably make tournament but not as a top 16 seed. That game we gave away, but ultimately Michigan is a really talented team and it went back and forth as a result. We also got a PK call also for our only goal so that helped. The first game of the Big Ten Tournament is going to tell us if we are truly better than earlier in the year. That Creighton game as bad as it was, will have very little impact on much as far as the season goes. The Rutgers game on the other hand cost us Big Ten Title and the Scarlet Knights have pretty much tanked and stopped playing defense since that. The only teams they have beaten since are OSU and NW who are the two worst teams in the Big Ten and they did not make it easy. Now we can avenge that loss. Sunday we need to come out angry and beat a team we had zero business losing to the first time and who is really not very good outside of a solid goalie. That win also could lock up a top 16 seed in NCAA Tournament. I have a feeling to get a top 8 though we need to beat both Maryland and PSU on the road in the following games. Can we? sure. The problem is that will require winning two 50-50 road games that could go either way and that always will be put to chance like today. One thing to note is that we got destroyed by Maryland two years ago in the regular season in College Park, only to come back and beat them in Big Ten Tourney and we will have to do it again. There is a reason we have by far the closest games and most trouble with Maryland of all the Big Ten teams. They are the only team talent wise that is our equal year in and year out and has same history as us. I like PSU winning title though and is VERY good for conference as a whole. It vindicates every coach who wants to play more offensive style with talent instead of parking the bus. When PSU replaced Bob Warming who was "Mr. Park The Bus" with Jeff Cook they have become an elite team. Hopefully this shows the rest of conference that going attacking heavy is the way to go and it is MUCH better for Big Ten as a whole. The conference has a reputation as being two defensive heavy and less open and offensive like the ACC. IU and Maryland get that for the most part and with PSU again showing that is a much more workable style, hopefully the teams below them continue to realize the way to play soccer is with attacking and not sitting back with ten men in box. Overall it has gotten much better the last few years and I really hope it continues. Its so much better to watch and better for Big Ten and College Soccer as a whole. -
Again 4th year. Aird has shown nothing. Tough job. He is in Archie territory. Great guy but time is not going to fix this. He is not getting the job done. Need a change.

17 up to 14. Puts us firmly into the bye and second round home game. Like to get up to at least 8 so we can host two rounds. A win at Maryland would probably put us around 10. -

Of all the games to get our first true blowout against (not named Trine) it is a VCU team that is possibly going to NCAA Tournament. Shots 20-1. Bench emptied. Team red hot. Now lets go win in a Big Ten title Sunday. -

VCU can't decide whether to mark Sarver or Bezerra and in mean time are having trouble containing either.
