Selection Show about to happen at 1pm on NCAA.com. I predict we get we get the 13 (our RPI) opposite No.4 Notre Dame and we head to South Bend for a Sweet 16 rematch. That win is the only top team we beat this year and will be why we have a bye and top 16 seed. Not sure what unseeded team we get in our home game next weekend.

Well in terms of the Big Ten Minnesota is far better than anyone imagined and just knocked off Michigan. Nebraska and Penn State look like the only truly terrible teams, but some of the squads who were thought to be better are not so good (Michigan, Maryland, Rutgers). Looks like another year in Big Ten where anyone can beat anyone else and it will be really tight 1-12 minus the Cornhsukers and Nittany Lions.
-
Yup. If IU can just go 7-19 rather than 2-19 from three they have a really good chance.
-
Calipari had court rushed on him so can't come back to Notre Dame but it wasn't a buzzer beater:). Makes Irish a bit more challenging but also a better win if IU gets it. Need to avoid the 2-19 from three UK just pulled. That was main reason they lost.

IUWBB @ Ohio State - 12/12/21 @ 7:00 on BTN

We really need this game. There is only several chances for good Big Ten wins (Maryland x2, Iowa x2, @Ohio State, @Michigan). Basically we have a chance at a signature win only six times and this is one of them. The advantage is we should have little trouble finishing in the top 5 of conference minimum and getting an easy bid to NCAA Tournament. The bad news is with the bottom half of the Big Ten so beyond awful we are going to need to get a lot of wins in conference and 2-3 good ones against the above to get the top 4 seed and host. Everything I have seen so far makes me strongly believe IU is a conference title contender, but we need a few good wins (and this is one of the few chances left) and a lot of conference wins to get where we want to go.. -
In South Bend. Calipari is a hypocrite clearly.

Fine, but don't complain when IU gets a 5 or 6 seed rather than a 4 and does not get to host NCAA Tournament games because that UK win is no longer signature and we don't have enough good wins in Big Ten. If UK being bad is more important to you than hosting games in Assembly Hall that is fine with me. Just be aware that if UK falters as you want, it is probably the difference between hosting and not hosting, especially with how horrible the Big Ten is outside top five or six teams and only a few signature wins available in conference. Look if IU is 17-3 and wins the Big Ten it will make no difference but that is asking a lot. More likely you are something more like 12-6 or 13-5 and second or third in conference. In that case UK being a really good team as everyone thought this year and mediocre is probably the difference between a four and five seed and hosting. You are more than welcome to root for whoever you want. I just want to make sure you and everyone else are aware of the stakes of rooting against UK and them not being as good as thought. -

Yup. Just like Maryland has no excuse for their poor play right now with Diamond Miller out. One of their best players, but they have five others who are just as good. -

Now that's an upset I like. UK getting beat is not good for IU despite Hoosier fans instinct to root against Wildcats. -

That is NOT a plus. UK is IU's signature win so far, so you need Wildcats to do well to help IU's NCAA Tournament seeding. Big Ten is horrible outside top 6, so not a ton more chances for quality wins and UK will be IU's only big nonconference win. As painful as it is IU needs UK to have a good year to have a better chance at that top 4 seed and hosting in NCAA Tournament games. Granted DePaul is really solid on women's side but so far UK has beat seven cupcakes but looked like garbage against the two good teams they have played in Hoosiers and Blue Demons. Need UK to pick it up and have a good season so our win against them continues to be strong. -

No matter how she plays as someone with connections to Israel I love this:). Looks like her sister has done very well at Villanova. -
Well Nebraska may be more tired than IU Saturday. Playing one day later and now they are going Triple OT with NC State. IU's double OT not looking so long now:). This game also was stopped for a fight late in the second half.

Well Maryland had just as much trouble as we did with Miami tonight before edging them out in similar fashion. Terps have also lost to NC State and Stanford in blowouts while we played them right to wire. I would love to see us finally beat the Terps and/or edge them out for conference title. We play them in early January in Bloomington. We can talk about tonight being huge, but the reality is that Maryland game is biggest in program history and we have a legit shot to beat them for the first time since they joined the Big Ten. Other results tonight in Big Ten/ACC Challenge: 1. Duke beat Iowa big. However, the Blue Devils are good and this was the Hawkeyes first game in a couple weeks after coming off a COVID shut down so would not read to much into this. I still believe Iowa is really good 2. Louisville absolutely destroyed Michigan. This one is very surprising as both teams are among the nations best and I would of expected a better showing from the Wolverines. 3. A middle of the road Notre Dame team edged out a struggling Michigan State team. This result matches expectations. 4. A good Florida State team easily beat a very bad Illinois Team. No surprise here. 5. A good Boston College team blew out a mediocre Penn State team that IU plays in their next game. No shock here and the Hoosiers have no excuse to not easily dispatch the Nittany Lions at home Monday. 6. A good Northwestern team that has fallen well short of expectations so far beat a pretty bad Clemson team. Expected but given the Wildcats early struggles there was no guarantee. -

Very proud of team. No one else so far has come within 20 points of NC State (including Maryland) besides South Carolina who is top team in country. The Wolfpack score 90 on everyone and our D did really well to hold them in check. IU's starters are as good as any in country but lack depth at all on bench. Still this is the top 5-10 team they are ranked and absolutely a Big Ten Title and Final Four contender. Now go beat Ohio State in 10 days which is a tough but winnable game and Maryland for first time at home in early January. That is much more doable than beating either Stanford or NC State and we almost did -
Wiscy barely holds on to save the Big Ten's bacon and win the challenge. Badgers look like second best team in Big Ten behind Purdue.
-
All down to Wiscy.
-
Wiscy tight again. PSU falling apart.
-
Looks like Wiscy and/or Penn State will save Big Ten.
-
NC State finally wins and Big Ten on verge of blowing challenge if it can't get one of the three late games.
-
For anyone wondering 7ot's is most ever in a college basketball game.
-
You're 33% there. 4 OT's is 1/3 of way to 12 OT's:). LOL

Other Big Ten/ACC Challenge Results: 1. Purdue getting better and beat a middle of the road Georgia Tech team with a buzzer beater 2. A bad Rutgers team got beat by a good Pitt team. 3. Nebraska has been the Big Ten's surprise so far and dominated Wake Forest 4. A very bad Wisconsin team was easily handled by a decent Virginia Tech Team 5. Stunner of the night: A really good Ohio State team lost to a really bad Syracuse team. 6. A bad Minnesota team down big at the half to a good North Carolina team. -

We are probably going to lose relatively handily this game and we should not feel bad about it. NC State is on another level and blew out Maryland. They also blew out a good Kansas State and Florida team and a decent Washington State and Towson team. No team has come within 18 points of the Wolfpack outside of top ranked South Carolina who beat them to open season and both those team are on another level. It is NC State's first road game but I don't think that matters that much. More interesting will be games coming up against Ohio State and Maryland who are really good, but certainly beatable and will be a measuring stick to where team actually is. Hanging in there against Stanford was a great sign, but NC State is even better and I don't think anyone will be able to beat them or be that competitive. If we stay within ten points we have every reason to be optimistic about season.
