17-0 noncompetitive loss. Got to show Glant the door. -

Highest ranked recruit in program history and first top-10 player in her class ever to join the team. -
Good for Thad who deserves this chance and hopefully he is healthy enough.

9-2 now. This offense definitely needs to take some blame for not having great weekend at plate against bad NW staff but this season as a whole comes down to awful pitching. Offense outside of this weekend has done plenty to win games all season. -

Hoosiers continue to show they have zero idea how to play fundamental baseball despite having talent. Pitchers can't find the zone which has led to HPB and walks which in turn caused a grand slam and a bases loaded forced run. Also, gave up two runs on ball that was popped up. On offense IU is getting hits but unable to drive in the runs. The biggest sin was Whalen swinging at a 3-1 pitch with bases loaded last inning and popping out as the teams best hitter. As I will continue to say IU needs to take a long hard look at Glant after season and whether he is the right guy. Yes IU lost two-thirds of its pitchers but the one-third that have come back are much worse and struggling with control which was a minimal issue last yr. Also the inability to develop a third starter will stop you from winning many if any series in Big Ten. Parker did this each year at IU after losing guys and Glant seems incapable of making pitchers better and the returning guys have gotten worse. Ultimately this team just needs to finish in top 8 this season in conference and get to Big Ten Tourney in Omaha but losing two of three at home to the Wildcats would be a terrible start as most teams pitching is better than this and hitting just as good. If this heads south as is looking like could happen certainly a long hard look at Glant and change with pitching coach will be needed if not more. -
To me Stewart being in the car is what raises my eyebrows. Kid has lived a troubled life but has contently been setting a bad example this year for everyone as an upper-class man and wonder if he has been a bad example for X. Wonder if him leaving team doesn't improve X's troubles and teams run-in with trouble in general.

Suddenly the teams hitting is in the toilet the last three to four games after a hot start even though pitching has been slightly better. Down 6-0 in the 8th and unable to hit a pitcher who has been incredibly mediocre all season. Hopefully the hitting comes back fast or this team has way more issues that I thought. -

Two teams who are clones of each other with powerful hitting and really bad pitching. Expect three 12-10 type games but no idea who wins. -

As long as they replace Celentano adequately should be a title contender like usual. Confident Redmon and Henderlong can replace Glass and Bezerra and everyone else is back. Another year of Sam Sarver and Tommy Mihalic should make them best one-two attack in conference. -
Hopefully we get that tomorrow. If you broaden your mind IU has the last remaining team in the state in the tourney tomorrow. You should be just as happy for that win as any.

We can't pitch. Mercer knows the problem but seems incapable of fixing it. Big issue when pitchers get worse from one year to next. -

They play a weekday game at Evansville later in the year. -
100% true. Woodson deserves a small part of the blame, but Fife most of it and needs re-evaluate how he handles himself in a job if he doesn't want to keep moving on every couple years.
-
As I have said I feel pretty good in saying he wore out his welcome at MSU and would not of been there much longer. Fife needs to look in the mirror.
-
This may or may not be true on the 'yes' man which can work. As I said though there is a line between yes man and acting like a know-it-all and Fife crossed it. He wore people out at MSU as well and would of been out there pretty quickly if IU doesn't take him. Constructive criticism is good but Fife needs to find the line and not cross into being a jerk and he has last few years. Needs to look in mirror and humble a bit because he has a lot to bring.
-
I would say this is more or less accurate. Both deserve blame but Fife's behavior and know-it-all attitude is 100% on him and he rubbed many the wrong way.
-
I have a pretty good feel as does Chris. I don't know him and I have nowhere near the info he does, but I feel pretty confident in what I am saying between MSU fans not liking it, some second hand chatter I know from behind the scenes, and Rabby's interview on JMV.
-
That is not what happened. Trust me. Izzo was going to show Fife the door pretty soon if IU did not take him on. Whether Woodson wants 'yes' men I have no idea, but there is a line between disagreeing sometimes as coaches and acting like a jerk to everyone around you and think you know everything. Fife very much was in the second one the last few years. Woodson may need to change his ways some and I think that is fair to say, but the Fife issue is completely separate and he handled himself very badly at both MSU by the end and IU all year. Taking the IU out of it, someone like Fife is not the type of person you want on staff. He needs to humble himself out and listen to others advice and hopefully him being let go makes him take a look in the mirror. Otherwise he will be jumping job-to-job every couple years and burning bridges wherever he goes.
-
I have no idea if the way Woodson is doing things staff wise will work and is def unorthodox. The Fife thing though is a separate issue and he acted like an @$$ and know-it-all at both IU and MSU. He needs to humble out if he wants to succeed as a coach anywhere. That is bottom line here.
-
100% on all of this. There is a reason Dane left MSU and it was not because they liked him. Both fans and Izzo were fed up with him and I feel pretty confident saying that.
-
Maybe but Fife also comes off as a know-it-all and a jack-@$$. Whether listening to consultants overt Fife is good or bad I don't know but Fife def caused division amongst the staff.
-
How many players come back? Is tis going to be a situation where we are down to like 4-5 players.
-
He was not our best assistant. He was a bit of an @$$ to everyone this year and a know it all. Take the IU out of it and a change was needed.
