    Welcome Coach Miller

Yes he does. I would not of posted his podcast info if I didn't trust him and think he was legitimate. I know him just a little bit also but not well at all.

    Welcome Coach Miller

Yup. Major update in my mind which is why I shared it. Finally a bit of news from a credible source with a face.

    Welcome Coach Miller

See my post on last page. In my mind a major update and best thing we have gotten so far in terms of real news.

    Welcome Coach Miller

I do trust the guy. I don't know him well but I have met him and he's a good honest guy. He's certainly the most credible thing I've seen in terms of an update so far given his connections and much more than these anonymous posters

    Welcome Coach Miller

I trust a name with a face like Clavio much more than an anonymous source on a message board thank you.

    Welcome Coach Miller

To me this Clavio update I posted is important and first legitimate news I have heard in regards to search in this whole process since Crean fired. I think he's right and I trust him as I said.

    Welcome Coach Miller

Sorry meant 'no go' as in not happening. bad grammar. Either way a VERY significant development that can hopefully calm anti-Alford people down.

    Welcome Coach Miller

LEGITIMATE BREAKING NEWS: Dr. Clavio just said Alford's a no go on Assembly Call show on you tube (fast forward to end): He is a professor at IU who is head of Journalism School there with good connections and a reputation to uphold. Just said his sources have said Alford is not happening. Other than that thinks Donovan is possible but not sure. Said search is very open and will be late next week before we know anything. Have a listen to last 5 minutes. It reveals a lot! I know Clavio just a very little bit and I trust him.

    Welcome Coach Miller

Listening to Assembly Call guys and they seem to think Alford is a no chance of happening. Hopefully they are right.

Well cross Huggy Bear off the list as a candidate. Not only is he dirty as hell with NCAA which disqualifies him but his offense at the end looked to much like Crean's with lack of urgency.

    Welcome Coach Miller

Anyone want to re-visit Dana Altman as a potential dark horse candidate? I was laughed at a few days ago for suggesting him on the board but his record is actually really good and his resume very impressive. Has Oregon in back to back Elite 8's and my family in Oregon thinks he's excellent.

Sorry Glass said all assistants must be human (that was his only criteria I forgot to mention but thought it was obvious). Bill Murray is fine (and a huge sports fan) as is Jordan if they are interested but Lola and Bugs have been vetoed. LOL

While this is certainly possible it could be any job Mack is off to. Maybe Georgetown, IU, Ok St or any other opening? This is sound (but far from certain) theory that Mack is taking a higher job but it doesn't tell us which one.

    Welcome Coach Miller

Actually since no one on this board has college head coaching experience it's only being offered for 500K. The good news is Glass has promised total freedom to hire any assistance you want who will work with you. LOL

    Welcome Coach Miller

BREAKING NEWS: Glass has announced everyone he wanted has turned down the job so he is offering it to the first person on this message board with an IU degree to show up to his office. I'm out since I don't live in Bloomington so surely someone local will beat me there. Whoever lives in Bloomington and is on this board better hurry for the job of a lifetime. LOL. Just kidding.

    Welcome Coach Miller

While this is a bit of a stretch I give it much more of a possibility than these 'sources' knowing anything.
  17. Aaron

    Welcome Coach Miller

We have no idea if any 'source' is guessing right or has legitimate info. That's all I'm saying. It's certainly possible he is a true insider but I take everything with a grain of salt.

    Welcome Coach Miller

That's a much more obvious 1 in 2 chance that anyone can be right or wrong on without knowing anything. Picking a coach out of a pool of candidates is much harder. Not saying he's not credible but just pointing this out. If I were to bet all 8 Sweet 16 games tonight and tomorrow chances are I would get one wrong with that many possibilities. Vice versa if I bet just on National Championship game with only 2 outcomes my chance of being right goes up exponentially. Same thing with the search. Calling a firing is an easy 1 in 2 chance. Calling who new coach will be is about 1 in 8 maybe.

Ding dong the witch is dead. I think you hit the nail on the head. As I have said a few times no one knows anything on message boards or anywhere else and all these rumors are silly. Until we get an actual hire or a credible media source with something new its all wild speculation. Only Glass (and maybe his search firm) knows anything.
  21. I know for me the problem with Crean was not losing in the Sweet 16 given the unpredictable nature of the tourney. It was the un-readiness of getting blown out in them. Obviously Zeller's 1st team hit its ceiling and I think everyone agrees that was the one team Crean got every last bit out of and pushing Kentucky was all that could be reasonably expected. Now let's fast forward to 2012-2013 where we were unable to attack Syracuse's 2-3 zone and got blown out. Let's say instead of getting blown out by Cuse we attack the 2-3 zone well and in a back and forth game we lose a heartbreaker in the last minute. Everything else in the Tom Crean era is exactly the same except we give UNC a great game in Sweet 16 in a back and forth game lose in the last minute. Does this scenario change anything about how we feel about the Crean era? How about if everything is exactly the same except we squeak into tourney the 2 years we miss and lose in 1st round? What if the year we lost to Cuse instead we go on to a Final Four or win a National Championship but everything else plays out the same way? In my mind things would of been different with a combination of playing close games in the Sweet 16 and at least making the tourney every year OR if the 2013 team goes on to win a national title. I am curious what results would of changed people's mind about the Crean era being a success and what results would you still want him here as a head coach?

    Welcome Coach Miller

I have been as anti Alford as anybody but a lot of people seem to want him. Even media guys like Greg Raekstraw, Kent Sterling and Zach Osterman who know college basketball and IU like Alford as the hire (I know 2 of these 3 guys personally and really respect them). I also know people dislike Dakich but he definitely in my mind has IU's best interest at heart and he has championed Alford. All these twitter polls (unscientific) seem to have Alford constantly in the lead. I still don't want Alford but unlike some of you I am willing to give him a chance. The Pierre Pierce thing worries me and he needs to answer about that but if we can get by that he deserves a chance. Sometime I think these message boards do not represent the true feeling of the mood of IU fans (if you read them you think Alford is the Grinch but elsewhere he is well liked). As I have said the farther Alford goes in the tourney the better because either UCLA will fight hard to keep him if we wins a national championship or a lot of IU fans will feel better about the hire if we still get him (I know I will feel better about the hire if he's got a National Championship or Final Four on the resume).

    What's a pane? Just kidding
  24. Aaron

    Welcome Coach Miller

I don't remember anyone besides the media anointing him the front runner and maybe anonymous sources. Same with Donovan. In reality no one has ANY idea who the frontrunner is.
  25. Aaron

    Wow Dakich!

Kent Sterling just mentioned on his radio show that their was a pimp on Sampson's team so clearly Dakich was not making this up and it does not surprise me one bit given the characters on that team.
