    Archie Miller Press Tour 2017

This is sort of related to Archie's press tour but I have noticed he is not bringing up god or his religious beliefs like Crean always did in his time here during any of these interview. Does anyone know if Archie is not a religious person or if he just keeps it out the public eye unlike Crean? I find this contrast fascinating between the two. I googled this and cannot find any hits on Archie being religious unlike Crean where if you type in about his religious beliefs its all over the place.

    Hire Tom Crean

I guess Crean needed a day to get over it and reflect. Even if he's bitter at Glass (which he may very well be) he has not less that bitterness spread to other fans and co-workers unlike Knight who held everyone involved with the university in low regard after he was fired. I can tell you a certain job more or less got rid of me some years ago. I hold the one person who got rid of me in very low regard and have not talked to them since. However, I am still very grateful for my time there and overall hold no bitterness towards the company and have maintained some friendships with others to this day. This seems to be the way Crean is handling it which to me is the correct and classy way to do so unlike Knight.

    Hire Tom Crean

And then after Knight's presser he left, sulked and has been bitter since. Not sure what you mean about Crean not showing up to get fired. I'm confused.

    Hire Tom Crean

In all seriousness Crean has handled his firing like an adult and had a great attitude about it. Unlike Knight who decided to sulk and never set foot on campus, Crean attending the women's game and continuing to give interviews and be in the public eye in Bloomington shows what a great guy and classy person he is. I wish him well and think he will do a great job at a school with lower expectations. At this point I think Crean and Davis are more or less appreciated for their time in Bloomington even if it didn't end well and would receive a standing ovation if they ever came back to Assembly Hall. Sampson on other hand would be booed off floor.

    Welcome Coach Miller

Well so much for keeping his daughter out of the spotlight as I talked about earlier. I hope for Archie's sake he is just proud of her and is trying to get her exposure. If he did not and he never meant for this picture to go so viral I feel bad for him. It goes back to being a coaches kid and affecting your family in every way as I discussed earlier. Also I am a bit confused to her age. This article states Leah was born in 04 making her 12 or 13: http://heavy.com/news/2014/03/who-is-dayton-coach-wife-morgan-miller/ This article today says she is 11: http://www.idsnews.com/article/2017/03/archie-miller-earned-his-way-to-iu I have never been great at math but obviously those 2 numbers can't add up and one of the articles is wrong but who knows which one. Also correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that a hotel room in the Union? Now to the real important stuff I loved the shots Archie through across the bow (albeit unintentionally) at Crean by talking about having a tough non-conference schedule, playing defense and not over signing by offering anyone and everyone a scholarship. Obviously these were the 3 things fans hated about Crean so it is really nice to here Archie feels the opposite on each one! I cannot wait for Archie to get started and am excited for the future of IU basketball!

    Welcome Coach Miller

I wondered about that but even if she starts anew in the fall in Bloomington everything I said applies in terms of the pressure of being the coaches kid and how tough that could be.

    Welcome Coach Miller

My mom always worked with college students so growing up around her office and being the cute little kid to them definitely had its advantages and drawbacks. With that said I NEVER faced anything like either Crean's kids did or Archie's kid might with famous parents and I doubt anyone on this board has. Definitely what you do as a career affects your whole family in every aspect and it's something people have to remember whenever they get married and have kids.

    Welcome Coach Miller

I was just kidding and completely agree with you. Society definitely has it's dark sides (kids being unfairly treated based on who their parents are) and this is one of them

    Welcome Coach Miller

Speaking of kids and this is totally off topic but does anyone feel old that teenagers like Archie's daughter these days are born in the mid 2000's? LOL

    Welcome Coach Miller

I had no plans to look it up and did not want to stalk a little girl like that until someone disagreed with me on the age. Than I wanted to make sure I was not crazy or a terrible judge of peoples ages. I swear I am not a pedophile. LOL

    Welcome Coach Miller

With the way his kids were allegedly treated sometimes it's probably in some ways a relief for her and her whole family to leave town although I'm sure they have some friends and aspects of Btown they will really miss. Honestly, it would not be a bad idea to have Ainsley talk to Leah about what is like being the coaches kid in Bloomington to prepare her since they are very close in age (I have no idea if this will happen but it would be a good thing for both of them).

    Welcome Coach Miller

I appreciate hearing your thoughts as a parent! As I said I have not been married or had kids yet so I don't have the incite you do from that perspective.

    Welcome Coach Miller

I just looked it up and internet said she was born in 04 and name is Leah so I made a pretty good guess on her age based on the photo. Also I assume your dad was not famous when you moved so that's an apples and oranges comparison. Kids have to move and change schools all the time but few face the pressure of famous parents and no one on this board knows what that is like or has experienced that.

    Welcome Coach Miller

As I said if he wins his daughter will have no problem in school but if he doesn't things can get rough as happened to Crean's kids. Its totally unfair to coaches kids to face that and it should not be that way but it is the reality of the world we live in sadly.

    Welcome Coach Miller

That's good to hear that he's a good father and that involved and also tells us what a good guy he is so that's positive! I had not looked at his twitter page that closely to know that. Still nothing he or his family have experienced to this point will prepare him for the pressure cooker that is IU basketball. I am very hopeful he and his family can handle it and think they will but things just got real for him in terms of expectations. He is about to be either the most loved or hated man in Bloomington and that will definitely effect his family at least to some extent.

    Welcome Coach Miller

Anyone feel bad for Archie's kid in the picture? I think she's about 12-13 (just a guess based on the photograph) and to have to transfer schools mid-year with your dad being the most famous person in town cannot be easy especially at that age when life is already complicated. Hopefully she's a strong girl who is comfortable with who she is. As Crean's kids learned, the way they are treated in school by some people is directly affected by how much their dad wins. Ironically I have not been married or had kids yet and that thought still crossed my mind.

    Welcome Coach Miller

No way will this happen. This will be Thad Matta in reserve. Just as OSU stole Matta away from us since we were to late getting rid of Davis, with Archie they were to late getting rid of Matta and he is ours now for foreseeable future (and OSU fans have acknowledged this on their message boards). Only way Archie leaves us if either he is fired or bolts for an NBA job. Once you're at IU you don't leave for another college job voluntarily (especially at a football school where basketball is second fiddle).

    Hutch interview with Ted Kitchel

Jake Query you win twitter post of the night. I could not agree more.
  19. Aaron

    Welcome Coach Miller

True. I think we've found the skeletons. Good work everyone. LOL
  20. Aaron

    Welcome Coach Miller

I have not heard or read that but if true that would certainly qualify as the skeleton in the closet I was wondering about that pushed us away. Thanks for the info!

    Hutch interview with Ted Kitchel

Glass clearly did interview some players as Risley confirmed in the article. There is no way he could of interviewed everyone of them given the amount of former players that there are. He would literally of been working into next year before we hired a coach. Kitchel just sounds mad he was not chosen as one of the players interviewed.

    Welcome Coach Miller

I just googled Mack to see if their was something I was missing and the only controversial incident I found he seems to have handled correctly. It involved his star player doing something bad to his girlfriend and Mack immediately suspended the player than dismissed him from the team. Again I have zero issue with hiring Miller and love the hire. I am just trying to figure out why IU was so anti-Mack. I get the issues with the others guys IU said no to (Alford, Marshall) but am still curious if Mack has some skeleton in his closet that IU knows about that fans and the public don't.
  23. Aaron

    Welcome Coach Miller

I get the Marshall and Alford hesitation given their issues in the past but why was IU so anti-Mack? I am not complaining one bit and think we made a great hire. I'm just curious if their is something Shady about Mack I am not aware of?

    Hutch interview with Ted Kitchel

Kitchel has always been Mr. Salty and he sounds like the NC St. fans on their board who are mad Archie turned them down for us. It would of been one thing if Glass made a terrible hire or brought in a shady character but that is not what happened. In my opinion Alford was the worst candidate possible so the fact that Kitchel wanted him discredits what he said immediately. As long as Archie wins big (which I think he will) I have no interest in what an old bitter former player said.

    Welcome Coach Miller

Assuming Donovan turned us down I love this hire for three reasons: 1. Having attended the Dayton Wichita St game I can tell you Dayton played better D in that game than any game I have watched Crean coach in 9 yrs. Both teams were so under-seeded and it was unfair they played in 1st rd and both teams looked amazingly disciplined. I am so happy to shove it in the stupid Dayton fans face next to me who loved Archie and was so arrogant and said we would never get him. Well we've got him now. 2. Dayton fans on their message boards are in mourning over losing him which is a very good sign Marquette considering message boards were kind of happy to see Crean go when he left them for IU 9 yrs ago. 3. So far he has followed his brother Sean in every way. Both had jobs at mid majors in Ohio (yes I know Xavier is now a power 6 but they were not when Sean was there) where they took teams to elite 8's and dominated their league once they got it going. Both stayed several years and held out for elite jobs. Since Sean took his spot at Zona he has stepped it up to elite results in Pac 12 (some will argue since he has not been to a Final 4 its been underachieving but I disagree) and if Archie can step it up like Sean has when he took the elite job we are in for a fun next 10 years. I will gladly take similar results to what Sean has had for Archie. All we need is for Archie to continue to follow Sean as he has had so far and I think there is a good chance of that.
