    IUMS at Northwestern - 9/17 @ 4:30 E.T.

Anyone know why btn2go feed says 7pm start right now? Are they showing broadcast on tape delay?

IUWS at Michigan State - 9/14

Nope. Still have Michigan Sunday afternoon on road (games on BTN) before returning home.
  3. No idea. As I said he was in a boot when I was there 10 days ago but have not been or noticed him since watching on TV. Going to Rutgers game in 10 days so I will update if I notice anything new in warm ups.
  4. I will echo that after the goal we looked awful. With that said I don't agree we looked like last years team. Last years team was incapable of scoring. Tonight we just did not give a good effort more than anything as we had almost no opportunity. Last year we had every chance in the book and couldn't convert. Yeagley said this team was not overconfident but it looked to me like they believed the hype to much and I hope this is a lesson to them that you have to earn everything. I also do think that change on defense hurt after the injury as Kleyn has been really good. What was most disappointing is a lot of teams try to pack it in defensively and play for a tie which Michigan did not at all and we still could not do anything. On Sunday Northwestern is the ultimate pack in defense with no attack but they have not been quite as good this year so hopefully we can rebound and learn from a terrible performance tonight. We won't play many teams as good as Maryland (only Notre Dame) or as bad as San Francisco but the vast majority will be very similar slightly above average teams like Michigan and its imperative we get results against this type of team and not take anything for granted which is what I think may have happened tonight. Only positive I saw is Muse finally was tested in goal and absolutely showed he could handle it. At times tonight I thought we would lose given how lackluster we played but Muse saved a tie.
  5. I don't care what the paper rankings say. Michigan is NOT the 18th best team in the country. They have one forward Francis Atuahene who is very good but the rest of their guys wouldn't play on our team. Four wins against terrible teams does not make you a top 20 team. As for us great start but sloppy ending to half but got our goal and the lead. Need to get refocused add an early one in 2nd half and put game away.
  6. I don't want you to disclose the name of the assistant because that is not fair but was the unnamed assistant someone on Curt Miller's staff or was he an assistant for a different sport at IU?
  7. What connection do you have to the department to know this? I am not doubting you just curious. I've heard about the first part and that he was forced to resign for some kind of inappropriate behavior involving a male assistant but what you describe in the second part is completely new to me and not anything I have seen written anywhere.

    Indiana vs FIU 9/16 @ 3:30

Jeremy Price predicted correctly: Charleston Southern. He's already asked on twitter what we wins. LOL In all seriousness perfect scenario and exactly who we should of scheduled to replace one easy win with another.

    Indiana vs FIU 9/16 @ 3:30

I don't want to jump the gun but there is a chance Hurricane Jose make landfall this weekend in Georgia not to far from Statesboro where Georgia Southern is (no one seems to know what it will do and it could move harmlessly out to sea rendering this post moot) . It also looks like it will be a little weaker storm but is there a chance we could be cancelled another week due to an opponent being located near where a hurricane causes issues? Something to keep an eye on.

    Indiana vs FIU 9/16 @ 3:30

Per Greg Raekstraw Bethune Cookman scheduled to play at Florida Atlantic this week and likely to be called off. Bethune Cookman has mutual bye week on Oct 7 so assuming their game this weekend is cancelled that may be another option for an easy win potentially if Charleston Southern declines.

    Indiana vs FIU 9/16 @ 3:30

FCS Charleston Southern was cancelled for hurricane last weekend and bye on same weekend as us per Jeremy Price. Pay them whatever it takes and bring them here for an easy win.

    Indiana vs FIU 9/16 @ 3:30

I hope its an FCS team for two reasons. First is personal and I am on vacation that weekend and cannot watch. Also FIU was scheduled as an easy win so I would like another easy win to replace it (obviously FIU is FBS but they are bad so its pretty similar) not a Georgia Tech or any other tougher game that we could lose.
  13. We did tie Maryland last year but this team appears to better than last year by a lot. The problem last year was not tying Maryland but tying other inferior Big Ten opponents which I think will happen a lot less this year. First of all this team can score goals well unlike last year (tonight not withstanding which was nothing but the unfortunate fact we faced an elite D and goalie) and the defense is even better it looks like. As I said in an earlier post (and I know its early) this appears to be the best IU team since the early Freitag days. For the first time in the Todd Yeagley area this team does not have the glaring weakness on D of his early years or the scoring issues of recent years. We will now for sure in the next few games when we play inferior teams but if the results are what I think they will be we are in for a special season and trust me I have not said that since the mid 2000's.
  14. Well deserved tie and I don't say that often. We have tied Maryland every game almost since they joined the Big Ten which is not a bad result. The problem the last few years has been our inability to beat the other Big Ten teams we should who are far less talented than either of the teams tonight. Most nights if we bring it like that we put 2-3 goals home but Maryland's D is elite as is their goalie. Just bring that effort every night and we will win almost every game this year. Our D is maybe the best in the country (1 goal given up in 5 games now) and completely shut down maybe the best attack in the country and most nights we will get goals doing the same thing against most teams but this one. Our ranking of 4 is about right. We are elite in every aspect. This team appears to be the first one since the early Freitag days that doesn't have a glaring weakness in either scoring or defense.
  15. We had better of play in that OT including a near goal on a deflection. Their goalie is something though. Every trick that has worked in the first few games to score they have had an answer for. 10 more min to score for either team or we tie.
  16. OT. Both defenses are immovable. Pretty even 2nd half.
  17. One of the few teams we play that's as talented as us and we have more than held our own. We had 2 excellent chances to their none and were just slightly better but no goals. I will say having Toye up there at forward who is so much faster than Hyacinth gives you so many more scoring opportunities. With that said Hyacinth has improved a ton over the summer to not hurt us and to play pretty well but still has some limitations with his speed and skills. Its fun watching an elite offense vs. an elite defense for both teams. No matter what happens tonight I can finally say for the first time since we won the title in 2012 we have elite players in all 4 aspects of the game. This freshman class looks to me like the first set of true "ambien players" (as former colts coach Rick Venturi would say) since the Freitag days. Yeagley had been recruiting well but not up to the level of Freitag and his dad. Freitag just couldn't develop his players. Yeagley has always developed talent well but his recruiting while solid lacked the elite players of the past. This class with Dorsey and Rennicks who are his first 5* recruits in a while plus several other 4* top 100 players (Toye, Warr and several others who have not seen the field) finally has the talent from our glory days. If he can recruit like this every year we will be back where his dad had us soon.
  18. We've given up 1 goal in 4 games so it looks very good. Big difference is we've scores 11 as oppose to 6 in first 4 full games last year. This yr avg. 2.75 goals a game and giving up .25. Those number if they keep up make up numbers of legit natl championship contender. We've had the d last few yrs but finally have the o to go with it thanks to our new stud freshmen. Excited to see what this year brings. By the way Hyacinth puts game away on a made header off a cross into box. He's so much better as a part time backup and even looks better this year even though his speed is still an issue.
  19. USF stupidly draws a handball on an easy clearence of a cross in the box. Swartz burries the PK. 3 for 3 (4 for 4 including exhibitions) on pk's this year which is something that has been issue in past so thats good to see.
  20. This USF team is very similar to every Butler team of the last few years. Leaky defense but extremely dangerous fast forwards who try to outrun you by taking balls over the top. So far our D up to task but Muse has been called into action in goal a few times but looked good which i'm glad to see. Both Butler (who i watched in 1st game) and USF borderline top 25 tourney teams on their speedy forwards alone which make them some of the better non conf teams we will play. 1-0 IU at half. Not best turnout on student side but main side bleacher almost completely full. Maybe 3.500-4,000 in attendance. To compare to Butler game there were 6 kids playing soccer in the grass at halftime. IU game has at least 60. LOL
  21. Fast freshman create a goal again. Gutman beat everyone down left side (yes I know he's not a frosh) and found Ware streaking who gave it back to Gutman for the goal. Thats the type of scoring opportunity u can produce with the much faster Warr, Toye and Dorsey running out front but had zero chance of creating with Hyacenth running at striker last year.
  22. On a serious note small updates to the stadium this year: 1. Benches finally covered 2. New signage to field 3. Goal netting now in alternate lines of cream and crimson to reflect iu colors. Very small stuff but first updates of any kind I believe since new entry plaza some yrs ago.
  23. Apparently Rennicks is spreading injuries to fans. So far I've seen a fan in a walking boot (no crutches), another fan with a heavily wrapped leg and crutches and also a fan with a heavily bandaged thumb in a splint. LOL
