Kleyn immediately makes an immediate impact hustling to earn a corner. Hyacinth than lightly taps the corner under the goalie's legs off his knee. A bit of luck but I'll take it.
-
Getting healthy slowly with Kleyn.

Love playing a competent team. UK actually is presenting a really good challenge for our D who has been up to the task but some nervy moments including a rip from just outside the box that Muse saved right at the end of the half. These games will prepare us much better for the tourney. Only the fourth good team to come into Armstrong to go with USF, Michigan and ND. 1-0 IU at half.

Wow I missed Dorsey. No goal but out ran everyone from midfield, juked a defender and than only a nice save from the goalie stopped a goal. Guy is amazing to watch. Also Panchot's rocket from just outside the box is dropped by their goalie but he gets it back just in time before it crosses the line. Other decent chances to but still 1-0.
-
Wow. Swartz with an amazing perfect free kick into the box that Mehl got on the end of.
-
Looks like same lineup with Dorsey replacing Glass now that he's back. Clearly Panchot is replacing Gutjahr for now until Kleyn returns and then either him or Buckmaster will take over that Midfield spot for good. Continues to shows how deep we are that guys like Glass, Panchot etc. are backups. They would be no question starters on most teams. Even Thomas was a backup to start the season till Kleyn got hurt and he's been maybe our best player. It's almost ridiculous how deep we are but I love it.

All games are on TV online streamed if you buy the package through BTN2go. I know many don't like it and I get why but I will gladly fork over the roughly $10 a month to watch the many IU Olympic sporting events they show.

Cool. If we win all our games to that point we will most likely be near or at number 1 (we are no. 8 right now in RPI but given who we have between now and then if we win them we will move up) in committees mind.

First of all solid teams coming up to finish the season. UK has a great defense but has only played two top notch teams (Louisville and Old Dominion) and their D folded like a rug and gave up 2 goals in those games so not sure how much of that defense is the product of a weak schedule. Offense is just slightly above average. Still will provide a nice test for us against a decent team that will be on level with whoever our first round opponent is in NCAA tournament (could be UK again given regional seeding usually and NCAA loving rematches). Hopefully we fare better than our #USMNT did last night. Also should have Dorsey back per Jeremy Price's preview and they said when he left for the call up it would be just 2 games. Also not sure when we see Kleyn and Rennicks but sounds like it should be very soon if not tonight.

Ok got you. Makes sense.

We clinch a tie even if Maryland wins out as long as we win out since we have a match in hand. To clinch out right we need a Maryland loss or tie if we win out.
-
MSU and Wiscy tie which is an ideal result for us. Jumps us into a tie for 3rd in Big Ten with MSU passing both OSU and Wiscy. If we win out in our last three matches we clinch no worse than a tie for conference title. Also the 2 teams we are behind in Michigan and Maryland have played one more game and still face each other head to head. Just need to take care of business

Wow one of the most aggravating games you will see. PSU and NW have a way of just sitting back and not playing offense and tonight was no different. Fortunately we are mature enough now to get the goal we need and for the D to hold strong and not allow a late equalizer as has happened with those 2 also. PSU had one decent chance late in 2nd half when they finally decided to start attacking for the equalizer with 10 minutes left but Muse was up to the task and by then it was to late. Not our best performance but we got the 3 points we needed to stay in conference title hunt and avoided taking a loss or tie in what was the last terrible RPI team we played.
-
Halftime. PSU continues to have no interest in playing any offense other than on quick counters which have lead to nothing. This is the type of game we would of tied 0-0 last yr but having Toye instead of Hyacenth up front makes all the difference in the world. Hopefully we can break them down for another. They have a really good goalie and a D trying to hold strong but hopefully like NW they wear out in 2nd half.
-
PSU using the Northwestern sit back technique as they always do and after their 6 guys sitting back on D clears away multiple attempts in first 20 minutes IU on an attack finally scores on a header by Glass for his first career goal. 1-0.

Indiana vs Charleston Southern Game Thread - 10/7 330 ET on BTN

There it is. First shutout since 1993. -
So far the team got mentioned this morning on the local Indy soccer show on 1070 and just now on the football game broadcast on BTN. I have been extremely critical of Todd Yeagley last few years rightfully so, but he deserves credit this year. However, we need to maintain this level consistently going forward if Todd wants to remain the coach here. While we have not been bad up until this year we were not up to IU standards till now.

Worth noting: IU's last shutout was in 93 in Mallory Era. I know this team is terrible but given how many terrible teams we've played and not shutout this would be noteworthy. -
Got you. Like I said sucks but so glad we are a deep team that should be more than able to whether the loss. When healthy soon Kleyn can move back to defense and Buckmaster can take Gutjahr's spot in midfield and we also have Rennicks now in some capacity.
-
How did you get into the press conference? I know it will be posted later by both IU and the HT but it is usually done in the media room in the back and not open to the public. With that said I figured we were headed in this direction given the grave reports the last few days. Glad we are very deep and can make up for the loss but this still sucks.
-
IU easy 4-0 win. Not sure what to say except we wore down another very over matched team. Up to 9 shutouts in 11 games which is so impressive. Also 100 career wins for Todd Yeagley after tonight. Looking forward to a much tougher schedule to finish the season against teams that will better test us starting with a struggling but annoying PSU team who in past has thrown a ton of men back like Northwestern. Than its gets fairly tough with several top 25 teams in row which will be fun more competitive games. We should still win but games will be closer and much more evenly matched ala Notre Dame. With all that said, this team as I have mentioned before really looks like a national championship contender and complete team for first time in a while.

Number 4! Warr goes 1 v 1 on a break away and curls a shot under the Evansville goalie.
-
The sideline reporter keeps calling Evansville, "Evanston" by mistake in every report. Whoops. Assuming she's from Chicago.
-
Injury update on Gutjahr: Still on crutches announcers said so sounds like he's out a while as I suspected. So to recap we have Rennicks back in a limited role, Kleyn nearly back but not sure when, Dorsey not injury related but back against UK and Gutjhar out a while it sounds like.
-
Number 3! A rocket from Buckmaster on the right side of the box is mishandled by Evansvile goalie into the waiting feet of Toye in front of goal who calmly taps it in.
