  1. Halftime and IU still leads 1-0. Our defense even without Lillard looks every bit as organized and as good as last year. We've shut everything down they've tried to do before it became dangerous and Muse was only needed once to make a save off a corner. Offense may be a problem. Warr looks really slow out there and is not winning races down the field like Toye did and was basically invisable. With that said Rennicks (although a natural mid) looks really really good and could challenge for starting forward. Doesn't have Toye's speed (although hes decently fast) but posseses excellent ball skills and was down there before Warr a couple times. He almost caught the goalie napping on a goal kick and nearly scored off a deflection late as well as a few other runs down the field where he had a chance. Only other scoring opportunity was with a min. left off a set piece that started midfield and ended with a decent look from Thomas just outside box that was just high. Overall excellent half against a pro team on a higher level than us. Gutman and Rennicks especially stood out.
  2. Gutman just made the sickest moves ever through one of the Swope players legs on a break away that the goalie stops. We are so lucky to have him back this year as he could easily be a pro right now.
  3. Stiever hit a wall there. Getting better each time though and was cruising through 5 so hopefully his arrow keeps pointing up each start.
  4. No chance. The 49 wins in the college world series year will stand for a long time. With that said if we keep playing like this we could easily be at 35-40 wins (we had 42 and 43 in 12 and 13 and think we will be a few games behind that pace) heading into the NCAA's and on border of a 1 seed and hosting a regional. Super regional is this teams ceiling which would be great. This team has a high ceiling but not as high as 13 and 14 (yes I know we lost in regionals in 14 but that team and 13 had ceiling at National Championship and this team does not quite),
  5. There's a bomb over the heavy air by Fineman! 8-1
  6. Air is definitely heavy in this park being at sea level like Petco. 2 crushed fly balls I've seen die at warning track.
  7. Great start. First time I've gotten to watch this year (listened to Roger and/or followed live stats for a couple games) and so far we look really good.

    #IUWBB - 2018 B1G Tournament

Great try but we got the season together to late. If we played like we did all year since at MSU which started the long winning streak game we are in NCAA tourney. We were exhausted by the 4th quarter but hung in there. I really think we have a good chance tonight if we put away MSU early yesterday as we should of. Season is not over as we will make the WNIT which we have a good chance to win (64 teams no seeds, no auto bids and any over .500 power 5 teams pretty much get in and usually hosts so home games coming as long as we can win). Despite tourney being in Indy almost every year its only the second time we've played in night session that I've gotten to go (was busy last night) since I moved here to Indy and graduated IU 8 years ago. OK crowd but certainly program history reflects size of our crowd. We had about 2 sections in lower level of all IU fans and a few others scattered around the lower level (was about 60-20-20 IU, Maryland and other teams fans combined respectively). Overall only 6 side line sections on lower level were fairly full with rest of Fieldhouse mostly empty. I can tell you due to a much better history and recent success the many IU soccer games at Grand Park, the IU Butler soccer games at Butler and the yearly IU baseball game at Victory Field draw more IU fans than this did.

    IU vs Rutgers game thread

Sean went 16-15 first year like Archie and taken off since. Don't want the cheating but he's won big since in 8 years with 5 conference championships and 3 elite 8's and 2 additional Sweet 16's. Remove the improprieties and i'll gladly take Archie matching those results next 8 years. They certainly had identical records and seasons in every way their first years.

    #IUWBB - 2018 B1G Tournament

Well we exhausted ourselves to the point where we may have nothing left for Maryland tomorrow but great win. This team has no depth with 5 good starters (including 3 superstars or near superstars) and 1 occasional sub off bench and that's it.

We were so lucky the clock malfunctioned. As I have said though this team is super dumb. 2 chances to win with shot clock off and both time MSU gets the ball back with under 5 seconds because of a turnover.

That was the most pathetic celebration by MSU after clinching Big Ten title. Wonder if they are worried it will be vacated for having ineligible players or Izzo is trying to keep them focused for bigger things. Either way most laid back excitement I've seen after winning a Big Ten Championship.
  13. None of these wins will be worth much at end of year but we got the job done and swept 3 mediocre at best teams to avoid any landmines. Tough series next week at a pretty good San Diego team where any wins will be valuable and losses will not hurt. A split would be fine.
  14. Wow nice to here Roger say we had 500 listeners Friday and 300 yesterday. Growing up you would barely draw that at a game at IU. Great to see interest continue to grow in the program but we already knew that. When I did radio for college baseball I was lucky to get 50 listening and that was the high games.
  15. Why we continually insist on starting Herrin is beyond me. The guy has nothing and the sooner we figure that out the better. 3rd starter should be either Saalfrank who has it in him even if he is struggling or better yet move Krueger back into the rotation as the 3rd or 4th starter which I have been advocating for. So far I am not a fan of how Lemonis is handling this rotation.
  16. I know daylight saving times is a controversial topic so with the debate back in play (there is a bill in the legislator to study a move back to central time) to possibly move to Central Time (which has it advantages and disadvantages) I just want to make sure everyone realizes that this switch would mean 5:30 and 6pm starts now for IU basketball (and 11am and 2:30pm for football) for some of the non-premium games during Big Ten play instead of 6:30 and 7pm. My sister lives in Chicago as an IU grad and she has missed 2 IU NW games she wanted to go to over years since they had 6pm local time starts and she can't leave work that early. Since everything is dictated by TV we may get more late slots but for some of our home games against bottom feeders (PSU, NW etc.) we would be looking at the very early starts. Now vice versa on the good side those 9pm starts for the premium games would now be 8pm which is better so that part is good. Olympic sports would not be affected since those are rarely televised and would usually still start on local time at 7pm since IU controls that.
  17. Nice win! Good to see us make it easy and shout out to Milto who is our one consistent starter so far.
  18. Good point. I should of said rewinding back to 2008.
  19. I was there and atmosphere was good and the place was very loud in crunch time so you are incorrect there. People stood almost the whole way from about 10 minutes in the second half right until the end of the second OT. The only problem were the balconies were almost empty again although the main level was packed unlike the Illinois game. Winning will take care of all of this though.
  20. I remember watching him as a player many years ago as a child. It's also good to know that he is doing something outside of his normal duties so he is not a professional or aspiring broadcaster. In that case I think he is doing about as well as one could hope.
  21. Finally listening to this radio guy and I think he is OK but not great. My complaint would be he seems to have zero enthusiasm or excitement for what he is doing but on the plus side his voice sounds fine. As a former college baseball play by play guy for a year I feel very qualified to evaluate. I also try not to be to critical as I was learning on the job myself and made mistakes. Good start so far. Lets keep it up.
  22. This game feels like a bad case of deja vu with some key differences. I am fast forwarding back to Feb 13 2008. This was the day they implicated Sampson and his recruiting violations went public. Later that night Brian Butch beat us on a 3 with about 4.5 seconds left that cost us Big Ten Title when we had just taken the lead a few seconds earlier in a back and forth game. Also throw in that my buddy who I was at the game with had a bit of a flu and upset stomach he was recovering from. Now fast forward to tonight and we lose on a 3 with 1.6 seconds left from about the same spot but a couple feet further out (only other time since we have lost a lead at home with under 10 seconds left was atrocious PSU meltdown in 14) after taking lead a few seconds earlier. Also IU gets somewhat implicated in FBI scandal and I am recovering from a bit of a flu and upset stomach. Obviously a few key differences in that this loss didn't cost us a Big Ten Title or even an NCAA appearance since we are a middling team. Also the implication on the scandal is no where near as bad (yet and hopefully it stays that way) and we are far from the only player so if anything happens to us it will happen to dozens of other programs also. Obviously the 2 nights are not alike in every way but in my world there are some strange similarites.
  23. I didn't catch a second of the game today other than I saw after we pulled it out. Looks like Stiever was better but still not as good as needed. No style points today but a win is a win and at the end of the day when you are looking at your tournament resume nobody looks at how you won and only that you avoided a bad loss and got the win you should.

That's big. If we get 7 much rather play NW than Wiscy. This website is useful for figuring out seeding: http://bball.notnothing.net/big10.php?sport=mbb
  25. You also have to remember IU faces something very unique in that most of the ticket holders like me come from Indy an hour away. Most Northwestern and Illinois Ticket holders live in the city of the game. If this switch occurs you will see even lighter attendance on the 5:30pm and 6pm games and 6:30 is already a problem. I'm curious if IU (along with PU and Butler) would try to fight a move to central time as this could really jeopardize weeknight attendance for some games (tickets would be sold but the no shows would get larger possibly).
