  1. Herrin gives up a 2 out walk where ump refused to call strike 3 on 2 borderline pitches but gets next batter to ground out to end 1st scoreless. This ump not gonna give anything close on outside corner it appears.
  2. Fineman laces a 2 out double down the right field line but Bradley flies out to end top 1st scoreless. Given how hot Herrin has been right decision to start him given Milto's absence but he still makes me nervous given his past.
  3. First loss this year where we blew a big lead as OSU homered in 7th to win. I always had us losing a game in this series in my configuration but it turns tomorrow into a must win instead of a luxury game from our stand point. We are also now 2-2 in true 50-50 games in conference where game was close late (wins against NW and PU in Sunday game and loss today vs OSU and PU in Friday game) which is not good enough if we are going to pull out conference title. RPI will lose only 1 spot likely and OSU is good so no harm there in terms of hosting regional or our resume but a must win now tomorrow. Good news is OSU Sunday starter is awful and we still don't know who is going for us so could be high scoring game again.
  4. Lead kept but barely. OSU scored on a double play we failed to turn than Kaletha dropped a ball in center field with 2 outs only to get up and throw runner out at home coming around from 1st. 4-3 after 3.
  5. Since I have benefit of replay by rewinding feed (albeit angle was only decent) I watched again and he definitely had it for a second than dropped it trying to show ump he had it. Could of gone either way.
  6. it was his first error at third but he has struggled at short previously so he has had defensive issues in past albeit at a different position like you said.
  7. I'd say give the guy the benefit of the doubt for how hard we worked to catch it. Its probably 50-50 like you said and certainly controversial.
  8. Ball never lies? After the controversial call in our favor we took 2 walks but than Walker who continues to struggle everywhere strikes out and Houston hits into a double play to 2nd and we blow the chance. OSU some momentum now.
  9. Wow OSU leftfielder just made the most diving spectacular catch down the right field line. However, as he was getting up to show the umpire the ball he had it fall out of his glove and ump said he dropped it. Huge break and a bad call in our favor. OSU coach came out to argue and it really got heated but no ejection. Bradley ends up at 3rd on the not so classic lead off triple
  10. This is gonna be a long game with lots of scoring. OSU gets 2 back after Beauchamp was hit all over the yard that inning and Justin Walker didn't help with yet another bad error at 3rd allowing a runner to reach 1st. However it could of been worse with 1st and 3rd 1 out before we got a pop up to 2nd and strikeout to get out of it
  11. Strong inning and a lot of help from OSU. The Gorski triple was all us with a great rip down the third base line into the corner. Than Gorski tried to come home on a ground ball to the pitcher that was thrown low and catcher was unable to field or Gorski would of been dead meat at plate. The Houston RBI single was of the infield variety after nice play behind 2nd but throw to 1st was dropped allowing Crail to score from 2nd who was going on pitch. Than Sowers was hit with bases loaded a couple batters later. We batted around that inning with Fineman making 2 of them as first and last batter of inning.
  12. I missed every second of this game and I am not mad about it even a little (saw final score on twitter but nothing else). Glad we won while I took in the Bojan Bogdanović show at Bankers Life which was much more exciting even though IU got a nice win. I will be watching us again in Baseball the rest of the weekend. Have almost nothing to say tonight since I saw absolutely zero when it came to this game other than our RPI moved up to 20 and saw on twitter that Milto is being held out due to a sore arm. Could be much worse and just hope this does not balloon into something more serious like it has with Miller.
  13. https://www.crimsonquarry.com/2018/4/20/17260948/hoosiers-and-buckeyes-set-for-weekend-showdown First write up of any kind mentioning Milto's absence but writer is not sure of explanation for missed start.
  14. I agree but I still don't like this being the way the info got out there. Otherwise I agree with what you are saying.
  15. Fair enough but I hope we find out pretty fast what's happening and this still seems like a bad way to put this info out there.
  16. Well clearly something is up if he is not starting. They have to have some indication of what is going on. You don't just pull your Saturday starter for no reason. The notes could of been of had something as simple as "Milto is being evaluated for an injury and we will have further comment later'
  17. Yes but than then the notes from IU should list Milto as starting as well if you are pulling a fake out. To tell the media he is starting on Wednesday (since the IDS put that in there preview IU must of indicated he was) and than on Friday to release in the notes he is not is a terrible way to handle things and creates the confusion we have now. Either hide the fact till Saturday when he is suppose to start or release the info to the media during the preview but don't do it this way.
  18. No I don't bet on sports. Just want IU to be honest if there is an injury and not release the information this way which is a disservice to your fan base.
  19. If Milto's done (and that's a big if but you always worry with pitchers) our chances of hosting a regional and getting a high seed go down big time. Hopefully whatever it is its just precautionary this weekend. I still wish we would of gotten this from IDS in preview story unless this just happened in last day. If something's wrong to list him as not starting in your preview with no explanation is a terrible way to put the news out there and a disservice to your fan base. I actually read the preview last night and did not even see that about Milto until you mentioned it in this thread.
  20. Injury we have not heard about? If so IU needs to do a better job of getting this kind of news out there. To mention nothing of Milto's problem and than put it in your press release he's not starting in passing is a disservice to your fan base. If something is indeed wrong I will be emailing the SID for baseball expressing my displeasure for how they handled this. IDS preview has Milto starting so unless something went wrong yesterday someone needs to talk to Lemonis about being honest with his injuries to media. Pretty dirty to tell IDS he's starting than find out he's not if this is case unless something happened last night.
  21. We found a way again it what was a can't lose game if we want a chance to host regionals. We saw last night when they messed up and had us losing the ND game for a bit before fixing it and our RPI fell from 26 to 35 so tonight a loss would of probably dropped us to 40 and made it really tough to climb back even though we have huge RPI chances coming up. As it is we probably will fall to 26 to 28 with a win but if we can take the series vs. OSU we will probably be back at 20 and in great position heading into PU and Illinois. Fortunately their is no style points in the RPI so whether we win 20-0 or 9-8 its probably a 1-2 spot loss instead of 15 which would of been devastating. Good news is there is now not a single game left where a loss hurts us more than a spot or 2 and every win is worth 3-5 spots better given who we will be playing so now is our big chance. With all that said we've got to be more clutch with runners in scoring position and have left a few to many on which we cannot do anymore heading into the quality of opponents we are now. We left 20 or more runners on base tonight which is inexcusable and again guys were impatient in big at bats throughout the game. This has been a bit of a problem all year. I was at dinner and didn't get home till the top of the 5th inning to watch so missed most of the scoring and saw only the pitchers duel part. With that said everyone but Brian Hobbie was very good. I have never been a big Hobbie fan so I am not surprised in some ways even though he has been good lately. Two guys I think can be special pitchers with more seasoning are Sommer and Saalfrank so I was very glad to see them live up to their potential tonight and give us over 7 innings of 1 run ball combined. Again we made it much to interesting but got the job done in a game we had to have. Now into the vortex of our schedule where we can either keep winning big and set ourselves up great for a national seed or we can play average to decent and get a 2 seed. I hope its the former and I'm ready to watch top quality competition.
  22. Houston finally wins it in the 14th with a walk off ground ball RBI single through the ride side in what was almost the same hit as the one that tied the game vs. NW! Feel good for him to see how much he has turned his season around!
  23. Absolutely not. It just seems unfair to criticize someone solely because they are reporting what they are told by a source (and yes he was definitely told this) who may or may not be right. If someone has other reasons for not liking him I completely understand.

    #IUBASE vs Notre Dame

I was very bundled up. Jogging pants and jeans on my legs and plain white short sleeve shirt, long sleeve IU shirt, IU hoody and winter jacket on body. It was that cold after the sun went down (first 6 innings during light I was comfortable) and I am a tall and thin guy so I get cold very easily. I noticed Brian Tonsoni and the IU base guys in those sections when I walked by on the concourse above. Love their passion and all the cheers they were leading which got a lot of the lower level going but you are right riding the ump was to much.

Again I hate how much weather has kept attendance down. They announced 4,100 which was less than the tickets sold a few days ago (I counted on the website by section and almost 5,000 had been sold as off Sunday) so clearly that's the actual number through the door and there were no shows due to the bitter cold which I don't blame anyone for. I was freezing by the end and literally shivering and even came down under the covered area the last 2 innings and watched from the back of the bottom level. This was a game that would of drawn 6 to 8,000 (like the first three years) easily with better weather especially given the hype around the team this year. Its a shame we keep getting so unlucky with mother nature. With that said was very happy how much noise was made by our group of fans behind third base with various different IU chants throughout the game. The one's who did make it absolutely were into the game and it was 90% IU fans or more which was even better.
