I know most of our fanbase is frothing over an opportunity to land Langford. I know that I am, but I refuse to let myself get so wrapped up like I was during the coaches search and the whole BD ordeal. Looking beyond Romeo, there are so many recruits around this state that would make huge impacts on our program. Living here in SouInd I want to sometimes throat punch the Louisville media who cater to the UofL and UK hype. They mock and laugh at the thought at even a chance of signing a player of Langford's caliber. First off, UK doesn't stand a chance. The family are not fans of Calapari, and exactly what is Slick Rick's record with one and done players? When is the last time he even signed a 5* player? I think it may be a Duke pull with IU a second choice. Let's go out and get Jallow, Phinisee and a butt load of other 4* who will stick around a while and start to building a year in/year out contender. Just watched it myself. So intriguing. Never liked Behiem, and well, we all know about Sampson. But lost some respect for Coach K after his remarks as to why he or other head coaches would never hire someone like the Baylor asst coach Ash. Turnovers are the key! You allow more opportunities for your opponent and less for yourself. Cut those by 35% on average and you are allowing 4-8pts less and in turn hopefully scoring 4-8pts more. Born and raised in New Albany. IU fan my whole damned life. 56yrs of it. When I was growing up, it was rare to see an IU game on TV unless it was a Sat CBS game. There was no cable then. Used to sit at the kitchen table with my grandpa and listen on the old am radio that looked like a beer keg. We did however get to watch the UofL games. So I cannot say that I hate Louisville. Say what you want. They are top 3 in attendance every year and their program makes a hell of a lot more money than ours. Their fans are just as loyal and educated as ours. Plus it is the #1 tv market for college basketball in the country. As far as the Yum center, Bankets Life doesn't hold a candle. I telling boys, this is a worry. Absolutely not. UofL self imposed sanctions last season will satisfy the NCAA. But Pitino is another fish all together. Look Pitino is close to retirement I live down here and it is a major topic at the end of every season. Pitino serves out his suspension next season and that will clear the way for Donovan the year after. This will also allow Donovan to see what Westbrook's intentions are. Young Pitino is NOT an option for quite a while. Louisville fanbase would not allow this. They have already lived through one Pitino soiling their image. Jurich is very loyal and has stuck with Rick, but will look elsewhere for a replacement. Like it or not, Rick Pitino is the wild card in all of this. Pitino and Donovan very close. It was always thought that Donovan would be his replacement at Louisville. It was thought for a few years that Pitino was ready to retire. Now with the NCAA report coming out saying Pitino was indeed responsible for overseeing every aspect of the recruiting scandal, it is HIGHLY LIKELY that Pitino will receive a substantial suspension and possibly a revocation of their last championship. This could push Pitino to a retirement thus moving Donovan into position to take over the coaching job there. I will tell you this...if it is between us and UofL, we will not come out on top. If you are speaking of my post referring to Insider, my apologies sir. I didn't join this forum last week. I, along with you have weeded thru the 400+ speculative, rumored and somewhat just plain ignorant posts of individuals claiming some inkling of knowledge on this hire. I was only making jest of some of those claims from that forum that found its way to this site. We are all excited about what this week has brought to our fanbase. A little humor (in good taste) goes a long way to lighten the mood. I would go on to surmise that 99% of the insider info is no better than a weatherman' rain forcast. Guestimations at best.
