  1. I was just pointing at that Woodson prioritizes defense which I think is the right approach. I don’t see Leal getting a lot of minutes. He is an average to good shooter with defensive limitations. We obviously view Galloway differently. I think his minutes are justified and I think he will continue to get playing time.
  2. Trey brings a lot to the team. He is a good defender that’s usually in the right spot (I disagree that he gets beat often. Did you see Lander/Leal and their on the ball defense last year?). I like Leal but his defense was not good last year although he does make an effort. He’s not Zeisloft. He is a good enough shooter but nowhere near great. Trey can handle the ball really well. Everything he does on the court he does with purpose. He moves really well with and without the ball. He makes crisp passes. He will be the first guy on the floor getting after it and the kind of guy you want to go to war with. I think Archie said something last year that he is the guy you want with you in a dark alley. He also had a nice little running floater in the game that looks easy but not a lot of kids can make that play. Bottom line is Coach Woodson is going to prioritize defense 1st which I agree with 100 percent. I believe he has also said he wants it to be 9 deep rotation maybe 10 in some cases and Trey is a part of that. I see some people on here clamoring for certain guys to play or play more. I think Coach knows what he is doing and sees it everyday in practice. Trey is going to play and I’m all for it.
  3. It’s one game. I need more of a sample size to know how I feel about anything concrete. This was a start and I’m happy their is a start and the season is here! I like what Woodson is trying to do on the defensive end and we will see if the offense comes around - betting it will get a lot better. My take on the rotation outside of the starters is when RP is playing like he did in the first half (that’s who I always thought he was) then their is not going to be minutes for Lander. He will not always be a DNP but I don’t see him getting a lot of minutes. Bates is going to play a lot - the kid has been injured and not practicing but the potential is obvious. Trey is going to play (I know not everyone here will like it but I like Trey more than most). Jordan G is going to have to play a lot better especially when Durr is back if he wants to continue to see playing time.

(2018) SF - Jerome Hunter Transfers To Xavier

I would be good if he plays very little considering the overall roster. He shown zero basketball IQ, been suspended or had to sit out games or whatever that was, and is completely lost on the defensive end. If he improves under the new coaching staff then so be it. But right now with the new guys coming in not to mention the returnees I don’t see him getting much minutes.

I agree and disagree at the same time. I agree it’s only marginal improvement but if he’s taking over more minutes from Hunter then the marginal improvement widens. I disagree that Galloway isn’t going to play much but we will see.

So been catching up with this latest news/rumors. Trey is probably the last player I would want to leave. This dude plays with an attitude/edge to his game that we need. You don’t think Dane Fife notices that and is probably working with him on his shot right now? He is also a winner and knows how to play the game with his motor and going hard with constant movement/effort. Don’t think as RMK guys Woodson and Fife doesn’t get this? His play fell off last year post injury as he was restricted but he is a player and fills a void that is needed. Having said all that I think he absolutely gets minutes next year. Not anything like last year and not like he will get as a junior/senior but he will play. He is not the end of the bench that will never play type RIGHT NOW let alone in the coming years. He will play. I’m on board with Brooks coming if it’s Hunter leaving but not Trey.
  7. You might be right. We will see. I have a feeling they are both going to put in the work. Trey will play. Woodson himself said that if your not a shooter but know how to play and do the other things to help the team win then your going to have a chance to play. Trey is going to get minutes. He gets it.
  8. Nah. Swap that with Jerome Hunter. Writing is on the wall.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

So you like Jasper guys now?
  10. I was happy with just Woodson. This changes everything.
  11. Not disappointed one bit. Woodson changes the culture from day 1. Eagerly awaiting on who will sit beside him on the bench. Hope it’s Lewis.
  12. It’s not Stevens-Sheehey.

36th in rebounding margin and 71st in total rebounds (even playing at a slower pace).

I agree with you and feel the same. I didn’t call you out and it wasn’t directed at you. Their has been a lot of talk in this thread and others that just seem unwarranted.

    Candidate Thread: Porter Moser

I wonder if some people that post on here even watch the games. The Porter Moser hate is absurd and laughable. They didn’t have a good game but could clearly see what they were trying to do on offense/defense. Porter Moser can coach circles around Archie Miller. 2/3 of their best players got in foul trouble midway thru the first half and had to go to the bench and they could not recover. Take the top 2/3 players away from any mid major and they are going to struggle. They just don’t have the kind of depth to recover from that. That said, I have not and do not want him to be our next head coach but all the negative talk about him in this thread and other threads just seems inaccurate. Loyola had a bad game and good for Oregon State.
  19. No hate. We all love you!!!!

    Candidate Thread: Mike Lewis

I think he is in a good spot in his career. If he wants to leave now for a HC position at a non P5 school I’m sure he could. If he wants to stay at UCLA until a better opportunity presents itself he can do that. He would kill it @ IU for 7-8 years as the lead assistant for Beilein. I’m not sure their could be a much better staff with those two plus whoever.
