    Next assistant coach

This is just tough. Hate letting go of someone that really wanted to be here and loved this place. Some relationships just don’t work. The real question is does CMW hire another real assistant or does he hire someone like Hill or one of his consultants it’s been said he listens to that has no experience coaching at this level? Does a high level assistant want to come here knowing CMW values outside voices more than his own bench that have cut their teeth coaching in college?

    Intangibles

We have to recruit kids that love basketball. We need kids that are willing to put in the work and put the time in to get better. Those kids are not hard to find. Stars are nice but they don’t mean everything. I think we have at least two on the roster and those kids are the ones that need to use their voices to lead and challenge their teammates to put in the work with them. We can’t have our biggest voice talk multiple times about fixing the holes in his game but their be no evidence that it’s being developed. This is a different staff so we will see what happens during the off-season. It seems like over the past several seasons their have been small improvements skill wise with our players. Their have been more noticeable physical/athletic improvements but not basketball skill development. I’m tired of seeing or hearing about players from other teams that have taken a big jump in their development. When is the last time we have had that?

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

I agree that his role might/should change. I hope that someone steps up and improves enough over the summer so he is not playing the minutes he received this year. It has to be earned though. This season our options were limited (no Bates wasn’t ready for big minutes). Someone has to beat him out.

    2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

I welcome Kopp back if he wants to return. He has represented IU well and has done nothing to warrant not being invited back. We can be frustrated with his play and our expectations but his return should be his decision.

    Big Ten Coaches Likeability

Dislike Gard, Izzo, and Howard in that order. * I wish that I disliked Painter but I don’t and I feel really bad about it. Also like Shrewsberry and wish I didn’t but he’s at Penn State so who really cares.

I hope he comes back. He saved our *** down the stretch. If he doesn’t play like he did we are having a completely different discussion and outlook on things. He would be by far the most difficult guy to replace and that’s with JHS coming in.

I would substitute Gallo with Bates. I would be shocked if he isn’t playing 25+ minutes. It’s obvious who CMW trusts and who he doesn’t. Bates is going to be a fine player but he isn’t there yet. I was hard on JG at the beginning of the season because I thought the game was still too fast for him. That’s why he was getting the quick hooks from CMW. He just needed time for things to slow down. I see the same thing Bates. That and he has to earn it on the defensive end. He’s just not quite there yet but it will come.
  9. B My goal was to beat Purdue, make a little noise in the BTT, and be part of March Madness and maybe win a game or two. We will be better next season.
  10. They are not this good and we are not this bad. That’s basketball. It happens. Proud of our team and our season. I still believe we will be better next season. We will lose a few guys and and add a few guys but we will be back.
  11. Agree with Jordan and X. TJD is doing nothing on either end and not finishing.
  12. What’s going on with TJD? He is playing VERY soft on both ends. They don’t have a Kofi type. He shouldn’t be playing so weak. The difference in the game so far. He is not bringing it.

    Parker Stewart

We must have been watching a different game. Parker was very good and I don’t think your giving him enough credit. He had a lot of help. I thought our team defense was very good as well but Stewart was the primary defender and he was much better than anyone else we had on him. Don’t agree that they just didn’t execute. Their was a reason they didn’t execute and Parker is the biggest reason. I thought I would be the last person defending Parker but have to give him some love for that effort.

    TJD

I would be more surprised if he does get drafted. No chance 1st round. Possible late 2nd but I would lean more to undrafted. I don’t see the potential. His skill set hasn’t changed since he’s been here. Same knocks on him since he arrived on campus.

    Parker Stewart

I have been a big critic a number of times regarding P Stew but his defense was more than decent. He played damn hard and he was by far our best defender on Maldonado. It would be nice if he could find his stroke again but we don’t win this game without him playing all those minutes. I love Galloway and Bates has a lot of potential but they couldn’t do what Parker did in this game against Maldonado. I have to give him credit for the effort on that end of the floor and his minutes were justified in my opinion.
  16. We don’t win if he didn’t. He was really locked in on ‘D’. Played really well on that end. Kopp also played good on defense and got his hands on a lot of balls. We will need both to hit a couple shots to advance.

I would have to agree with him not being included.

    IUBB vs Rutgers - 03/02/22 @ 7:00 on BTN

You have to put in the work. Point blank. TJD has done a lot of talking since he’s been here. Some kids have the drive to get better and some don’t. He’s a dunker that likes to beat on his own chest. If that’s who he wants to be that’s cool. You be you. He will be able to make a living playing basketball overseas and I wish him the best. It’s time to move on. We need a leader and an alpha. They don’t need to be the same person but right now we have neither.
