He still has a long way to go on the defensive end. He’s still learning and that’s fine but that’s why he is not playing big minutes but it’s coming. He has gotten real comfortable on the offensive end and we need it.

Hulls was similar. I’m sure we have some guys now that put in the work but I don’t hear about it on that kind of level as VO or Hulls. I’m not on campus anymore but I know/heard JHS put a lot of time in and Durham before that but the time Dipo put in was legendary.

I tend to agree. Leal should be getting minutes for this team. X game is flawed. He is fast but plays slow. As some have said, I think we should be pushing the ball. Gallo has shown he can push it and get to the rim for himself with his floaters and can find others. He also gets by people on the drive. He is a better option than X. Then you play Gunn or Leal next to Gallo.

I guess I prefer Gallo because he pushes it and is crafty. He gets in the lane and creates for himself or others. Him off the ball running around the perimeter hoisting jumpers is not good. The problem is he doesn’t have a wing man. That’s why I say pair him with Gunn and give Gunn a real look with the starters and see what happens. Maybe it works and maybe it doesn’t. X is fast but he often walks the ball up and doesn’t find people like he should outside of the stretch he had the last couple of years throwing up lobs to TJD. I’m not against X personally, but with all the immature acts let him come off the bench and see if my lineup works. Well, maybe I am against X the more I think about it. I could do without him laughing after putting up an air ball at the free throw line. Get upset, slam the ball, do something, but laughing it up pretty much sums up who he is.

I’m not in the kick him off the team crowd. Sit him for a half and move on. The totality of his transgressions is most bothersome. Some have said no big deal he has never hurt anyone. True, but with his Walnut stunt he was very lucky no one was hurt or worse. Personally, I would rather see him come off the bench. He will have some big games but I don’t automatically think we are better with him. I like Galloway at the point blowing by guys and getting into the lane probing and making plays himself and setting up others. Start Gunn at the off guard and give him meaningful minutes with the starting unit and hope he finds his game.

Let’s roll out this lineup. TG Gunn Mgbako Malik Ware No X. TG is at his best probing the defense not standing along the perimeter jacking jumpers. He can get by most defenders and can probe the half circle in the lane and go to his float game or find Malik and Ware. Gunn is simple. Sink or swim. Give him an extended run with the other starters. It will never happen because CMW will never move on from X if he is available.
