(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

You are giving the NCAA too much credit. It's the FBI who busted the adidas schools. NCAA didn't do anything. -

The probe isn't done. And it's not going to be as easy for the NCAA to sweep it under the rug since the FBI is involved. -

If we are talking UNC, I don't know if fake classes really count as 'doing it both'. -

Robert Johnson was no better this year than he was a junior....when he was our fourth best player. The loss of him will have everything to do with who steps up and can shoot the ball and little to do with him. We'd miss Blackmon tremendously this year not because of his overall game but rather his ability to shoot from deep....especially the fact that he could do so when guarded. RoJo wasn't that type of player offensively -- he needed space. -
After two putrid seasons and after starting the year off 2-6, my Wilmington Warlords have ran off six straight wins. My team is young as well...my top two scorers are a freshman averaging 18 points per game and a sophomore averaging 16. I’ve kind of settled in on the top of players I can get in recruiting — my big men I look for rebounding, size, and defense and ignore the scoring.....those guys stdn’t Coming to Wilmington.

It's also worth mentioning that they are 7-12 and three of their four double figure scorers are seniors. The other is a point guard. They certainly would be bringing in three studs if Romeo commits, but there is going to be nothing much around them. Not sure three freshman studs and nothing else amounts to much. -

True....but Vanderbilt is 7-12 and in last place in the SEC. If he is waiting for a reason not to go to Vandy, it's right in front of him. -

There wasn't anyone watching Moore late in his senior high school season that thought we wouldn't want him. Anyone saying different is being revisionist. Check his draftexpress profile from last April. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Clifton-Moore-109337/ -

I'll take four years of Race Thompson over a one year-grad transfer big that would have been just a rotation guy on a team headed nowhere. -
Potential starting 5 for next year, does Juwan GoPro?

Hansborough averaged 20 points and 9 rebounds over his college career. Morgan is very much a poor man's Hansborough. -

Thing Forde forgets is IU fans pretty much gave Crean a pass for his first three seasons. If we lose our next 19 games, our record will match what Crean had his first season. Sure, the circumstances were different....but let's not act like Crean wasn't given a chance. He had nine years here and only had winning seasons in the Big Ten once. He did have two Big Ten champsionships....and promptly didn't make the tournament the next year in both. Forde tweeted that he was stunned last year when Crean was fired. So the guy is just full of it.....in one breath he's talking about how IU fans didn't want Crean, and then in the next he's talking about how shocked he was that he got canned. -

This is one thing I'll say: those people who blamed Blackmon for our lack of defense really didn't want to look very deep. Most of the guys Crean went after weren't known for their defense. And if you don't think we miss Blackmon, you're nuts. We most certinally need his shooting and it's not like his defense was any worse than we've seen on the floor in several of our games. I do think people truly overestimated what we were going to put on the court this year -- didn't matter who the coach was. You don't lose the talent we had the last two years and have a couple of mediocre recruiting classes and expect to miss a beat. My concern is that we could lose some of the guys we did keep that are young and are seeing the veterans out there floundering and still can't get on the court. Clifton Moore is a mirage at this point. Justin Smith barely makes an appearance. I'm truly not a big Josh Newkirk detractor, but if I were a freshman seeing him play as a senior I'd have to scratch my head as to what he has done to deserve minutes that shouldn't be going to younger guys. I don't think much of Curtis Jones' game, but I understand why he left. -
If we don't get Romeo, we miss out on a terrific player.....for one season. I mean, I love Eric Gordon and all, but it's not like he changed the landscape of Indiana basketball. And when Crean did get this program to the #1 ranking, it wasn't on any one and dones.

Allen was the correct choice
RaceToTheTop replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I get that. But while the schedule in the Big Ten is going to be tough due to the division imbalance, we do play pretty much of a joke non-conference schedule every year (the Virginia win this year turned out to be a good one, but we didn't schedule them thinking we'd be playing a bowl worthy team). So most years -- if we are truly bowl worthy -- we are looking at needing to go 3-6 in the Big Ten to be bowl eligible. It's really not asking that much. My problem is that I simply don't think we went through the right protocol in hiring Allen. If he was the best candidate for the job, fine....but I don't think we ever tried to determine that. We simply went the route of taking the best in-house candidate as we were trying to keep recruits on board. IMO that's short term instead of long term strategy. -
I've really struggled the two years I've had my team -- still trying to figure out all of the nuances -- but really lack size. Pretty much stuck playing my best player -- a 6'5" guy -- at power forward because of my lack of size. He's a jack of all trades -- averages 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists -- but he's really better off at being a shooting guard or small forward, just don't have the size or talent to move him. My team (Wilmington Warlords) put together their best game of the year today and won 89-51 but that only improved my record this year to 7-13. Recruited some size, but there seems to be so many teams going after big guys with talent that it's hard to get them.
-
Wish him luck. Bottom line is that when a player is in there to provide shooting and they can hit shots, they can't play. Going forward, I didn't see that changing much when we have some nice wings coming in.

My Way Too Early Opinion on this Season/Team
RaceToTheTop replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We certainly had to go through a hell of a lot worse with the team that Crean inherited when he came in. We'll get some things turned around and some of the shortcomings won't this season. Everyone ripping Blackmon last year needs to be reminded how good of an offensive player and needs to stop blaming all of our defensive shortcomings on him. -
(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
RaceToTheTop replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
In the spring, Romeo could sign here, could sign at Vandy, could sign at Kansas, could sign at none of the above and somewhere else. Don't get too hung up on the recruiting. With Phinisee, Anderson, Hunter, and Forrester, we have a top 15 class....and throw in Thompson who really is a 2018 signee given the redshirt. Top 15 classes with coaches who can coach can do wonders. We've seen what happens with top ten classes with coaches who couldn't. Anyone, root for the guys who wear cream and crimson and want to be here and wish the ones who decide to go elsewhere luck -- unless they are playing the guys wearing cream and crimson. -

Who had ''first basket scored at 2:55 pm' in the prediciton contest? -
My team is just really, really bad (Wilmington Warlods). No size at all and really don't have a point guard. My best passer I have to play at power forward because of our lack of rebounding.

Prediction League (Game 4 - Penn State 9/30/17)

Against a top team like Penn State, I see one of two results......we squeak out a fluke win or WE WIN IN A BLOWOUT.
