Ngw was also posting midseason how 'good' IU was when Cupps was on the floor. He's been optimistic on everything and not sure he should get credit for being optimistic and correct when he never accepted it when he was optimistic and wrong. And he still has misses. He basically said Essegian was IU's and then once Essegian moved on, he didn't bring it up again. And Ngw has been pretty radio silent lately.

So I'd say that Coyle's tweet is waaayyyyy premature. That said, at least with Maryland/IU/Rutgers we are talking about schools he wouldn't start at, so playing time isn't all he's looking at.

Patterson came to Syracuse as an unranked recruit and they redshirted him. I'm thinking if he had shown anything at all in practice, he wouldn't have redshirted and Syracuse would have tried to keep him as they are in desparate need of big men.

One of the selling points for MM coming to IU was that he would be playing the 3. Coaches make those decisions all of the time, whether it is worth playing a guy for a certain amount of time or at a certain position is worth losing them over. I have to say that if MM weren't here last year, the amount that our perimeter shooting hurt was would have soooooooo much worse than it was.

He played 19 minutes per game last year on a top 20 team. Really doubt he is looking for a smaller role.

The option to back up the back up aren't going to be guys that you can trust to do a whole lot. Rather go small than count on a guy fourth on the depth chart at center.

If NK signs, IU now has at least 3 players that can play the 5. Do we really need a fourth string center more than someone who is a career 43% shooter from deep?

If Hemenway is the 13th guy to sign, he is in no means the 13th guy on the team. Developmental guys on P5 rosters are going to be things of the postal. Let someone else develop them and transfer to you and get paid.

oh.....no no no no no he doesn't. Hemenway is a career 43% three point shooter who has taken a significant number of them. I assume that we are bringing in a backup 5 for the 12th scholarship. If Hemenway is here, he's not #13 on the team. He's ahead of Leal, Newton, and Cupps. But that would make the roster reallllyyyy guard heavy and you would have to play three guards a pretty significant amount of time. But Hemenway is a really, really good shooter. Don't see that it would make sense for him unless he simply wants to end his career in his home state in an IU uniform.

I don't doubt it, was more a statement about the tweet taking a sensationalistic take on it. I would have to say that I would take a lot of things that a college student said they 'saw' at night as something that I would first want to know what was their system at the time of the 'sighting'.

Hemenway might have changed his mind since Goode signed. I really like Hemenway, but that would then be seven guards on the roster -- and that's assuming Tucker is considered a SF. Maybe considering the success that the staff has had with bigs you look for a reclamation project big with a high ceiling and multiple years of eligibility and looking forward to 2025-26 and beyond.

Obviously we are looking for a backup 5 and Nicky K is a target. If we don't land him, we at least know the type of 5 they are looking for to backup Ballo. So if they use the 13th scholarship, what would they look for? -- we know that Alex Hemenway had told peegs.com that he would be interested in IU. That was before Goode official signed which could change his thoughts on that. Not sure of the fit minute wise, but he can flat out shoot it. -- do you look for a uncommitted freshman project and if so, think about redshirting? -- do you look for more frontcourt depth?

I will say that when a story is posted that says ‘everyone’ did something, I doubt its accuracy. Get a room of vegetarians together to get lunch and probably at least one is eating meat.

Illinois screwed that up. He was hurt until mid February in his sophomore year and then they played him the last 10 games. Blew a year and f eligibility for 115 minutes on the court.
