Three. Played two years, would get a Covid year. EDIT: actually one year and not three. Started his career at a JUCO

Isaac Mushila, Texas A&M Corpus Christi enters the portal. 6’5” wing who rebounds like a demon. 14.5 points, 9.9 reb. Shot 37.5% from three in low volume (37.5% on 15 of 40 attempts).

FWIW, I didn't see any pictures of MM on campus at St. John's or Kansas other than the ones with him wearing the uniform at the end of the visits. -
FWIW, they've brought in a solid group of transfers this year -- 247 ranks their incoming transfer group as 25th best. They've brought in Rienk Mast (Southern Illinois, 13.8 ppg, 8.0 rpg), Brice Williams (Charlotte, 13.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg), Ahron Ulis (Iowa, 6.1 ppg, 2.1 apg), and Josiah Alick (New Mexico, 8.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg). Downside is that they have to replace Derrick Walker and Sam Griesel, but IMO Nebraska could finish in the upper half of the Big Ten next year.

I agree with the rule change although I do think that it doesn’t effect the non-call I hate the most….an offensive player banging through a defender when both are on the ground in order to back a player down who is in an establishing guarding position.
-
Yes. What I listed was the 2024 group which sees Houston, Cincy, UCF and BYU replacing Texas and Oklahoma. Overall I think that’s a net loss in basketball. Not sure how BYU, UCF and Cincy will compete.
-
Will be interesting in 2024 as the Big 12 looks quite different: Baylor BYU Cincinnati Houston Iowa State Kansas Kansas State Oklahoma State TCU Texas Tech UCF West Virginia

Zuby Ejiofor from Kansas enters the portal. 6'9" power forward. Played in 25 of the Jayhawks 36 games, averaged 5 minutes per game with 1.2 ppg and 1.7 rpg. My guess is it's most likely a response to the Hunter Dickinson signing as opposed to any developments with Mgbako. At best he was set to be Kansas's fourth big in the pecking order behind Dickson, KJ Adams, and Ernest Udeh.

googled it and that is correct —JHS actually did verbally commit to Pittsburgh in December of 2019. -

Think he mixed up JHS and X. FWIW, JHS’s hometown is Pittsburgh….but obviously no connection to the college. -
Ismael Massoud (formerly from K State) commits to Georgetown. Elijah Fusher (Texas Tech) transfers to DePaul
-
Very minor news, but Wilhelm Breidenbach will be taking his goggles with him and transferring from Nebraska.

Trying not to get derailed, so will be my last response on the topic of JHS going to the NBA in terms of it being a credit. It is a false narrative to say 'would have been in the NBA regardless'. It's an after the fact argument. As Wayne stated, five star player's typical plans are to play one year of college ball and then turn pro.....and yet they all don't. Players don't just get drafted because they want to. JHS wasn't getting mocked in the first round prior to his freshman season and if he had a second round grade right now, his 'plan' likely would have changed. Players in 2021 with a similar ranking to JHS: 18: A.J. Griffen. One and done. Drafted with the 16th pick. 19. Harrison Ingram. About to play his third year of college ball. 20. Max Christie: One and done. Drafted in the second round. 21. Hunter Sallis: About to play his third year of college ball. 22. Michael Foster: skipped college, went to G-league. Has only played one minute of one NBA game. 23. Trevor Keels: one and done. Second round pick, played 3 NBA games. 24. Aminu Mohammed: played one year of college ball, went into NBA draft. Went undrafted. Has not played in the NBA. G-leag 25: Matthew Cleveland: about to play his third year of college ball. 26: Brandon Huntley-Hatfield: about to play his third year of college ball. so of guys with similar profiles to JHS in the draft class before him......one of nine was a first round pick. Only one other has a full NBA contract. Three are in the G league. The remaining four are about to be juniors in college. Sounds awful distant from being a 'sure fire' NBA player. -

I think only one poster said he might be coming off the bench, and whether he would or would not be, there is one basketball at all times. It's safe to assume that every player on the Kansas team is going to more limited touches than they would if they were somewhere else. Kansas will be returning two guys that averaged in double figures for them last season + Hunter Dickinson and Timberlake, both top tier transfer guys. And a fifth guy coming back -- DuJuan Harris -- averaged 6 assists per game and shot over 40% from three. -

Self has coached a lot of one and done players, but saying 'JHS was always a one and done no matter where he went' is a completely false narrative. He was the 23rd ranked 2022 recruit coming in. He was NOT a McDonald's All-American. -

A couple of notes on Kansas: With the addition of Hunter Dickinson, Torvik rates them as the #1 team for next year. I suspect whether or not they add MM, they will be the preseason #1 team. A couple of schools of thought: 1. It's really attractive to sign there and potentially win a title. 2. It's not real attractive to sign there as titles are a crap shoot in a one and done tournament and the number of offensive options they have available limits touches. Re: the second school of thought -- Torvik now projects that Nick Timberlake will average about 8 points per game next year 27 minutes per game. Obviously this is nothing more than a meant to fun stat projection, but if it shows what adding Hunter Dickinson to an already talented group does -- touches are going to be limited. Whether 1 or 2 is more attractive (if everything else is equal) is a personal preference. -
I don't know anything about Tate Frazier, but know that if every player that had been a true St. John's lean whenever a media guy said they were, they'd have a hell of a team. Doesn't seem to be happening right now.

At the minimum, most of them made a nice chunk of change on their first NBA contract. And there really isn't a guarantee that they would have done any better if they had stayed longer. Sometimes their flaws get exposed. -
For Ball State and Michael Lewis, a loss this late for a player like Jaylin Sellers is tough to deal with. He'll likely be a role player if he goes to a P5 school, spot shooter getting some minutes. At Ball State, he's a starter and would likely have been their leading or second leading scorer.

Adding both, Torvik would put IU 19th. -

FWIW....and it's just a mathematical projection, nothing more, nothing less: Torvik projects is Dingle was added he would get 32 minutes/game at IU, have an offensive efficiency of 112, and a usage rate of 25. If Mgbako was added instead, Torvik rojects he would get 30.8 minutes/game, have an offensive efficiency of 111, and a usage rate of 21. If either were added, Torvik's ratings move IU from 35th overall to 24th overall. So not a whole lot of difference. -
16 have entered the portal in the last three hours. Gonna have to sift through to see how good they are. Jaylin Sellers from Ball State entered. 6’4” shooting guard, three years eligibility left. 13.5 ppg, 37 rpg. Excellent three point shooter. Shot 45% over two seasons (78 of 174).

From a strictly talent standpoint.....he's a plus defender. Question is on if offensively he can be under control. I do think the worst situation he can go to is Michigan where Howard doesn't really have a system that looks for great shots. My prediction would be for him to shoot about 40% overall and 32% from three this upcoming year under normal conditions. Those are livable shooting rates if he distributes well and plays the defense that he seems capable of playing. If he's at Michigan, though? Think he is given too much wiggle room and he takes too many shots and I'd predict under 40/32.

Both could be true.

Have to say that from the way that MM and family have been handling the process, a hard sell might not be the best way to go. We'll see.
