Rupp Rafters makes Peegs look sane. They've went through about eight cycles with Reeves from 'the sky is falling if he goes and Cal sucks' to 'Reeves is coming back and anyone who said he was leaving is a moron' and then 'Reeves isn't taking classes at Illinois State, that's just a rumor' then 'he's taking classes there but isn't leaving' then 'he's taking classes there and he's either headed to the Big Ten or Memphis and Cal sucks again'. Now they posted a video from a talking head saying that 'Cal is holding him hostage since he can't go anywhere until he graduates'. However, the overall sentiment is that they need him (if they think he's coming back) or they don't need him (if he's leaving).....but to a man, the posters think Cal sucks and he's outstayed his welcome. Anyway, the Rupp Rafters board seem to read into the 'insiders' what they wanted to. Jack Pilgram is the insider (Kentucky guy) who has provided the most info, and what he basically had been saying up until 48 hours ago was that Reeves was leaving. Then yesterday he said that it was looking more likely that Reeves was coming back and then Cal had changed his mind on some things (in regards to a collective). People starting running with this and said that Reeves coming back and would be announcing within 24 to 48 hours. But I don't think those thoughts are coming from people in the know. Could be wrong, maybe he announces tomorrow that he is coming back to UK, but Reeves can play the long game IMO and wait for UK to either up their NIL or wait to get his classes completed and go the grad transfer route late in the summer. At that point, he is going to be THE most valuable player available.

Maybe. Sounds like Kentucky is trying to form a collective (can't believe they didn't already have one). But there are suitors out there....Indiana and Illinois among them. Reeves can bide his time.

I honestly would be fine if that rule was back in place -- released ball before the charge counts as a bucket if made and offensive player control fouls count toward the bonus.

The number of times that Edey got hacked with no call + the number of times he turned with elbows extended and into a defender says your point of refs getting verticality calls correct as way off base. Heck, it would be easier to not have players have to dribble the ball as the variables involved in traveling wouldn't have to be spotted. Being easier doesn't make it better.

+1. The group that Pitino has put together is Soriano, Dingle and s bunch of guys. We’ll see how Dingle translates, but so many of the players he’s put together are redundant. Wilcher makes sense because he has four years but having 14 scholarship guys at this point doesn’t. I’m thinking the Daniss Jenkins rumors might have some legs and there are transfer issues with him.

What's funny is that on St. John's message boards they just say 'the 14th scholarship will just come from NIL money and that player will be a walk on.' Totally avoids two issues: 1. The NCAA would love to find PItino liable for a violation and the university can't just promise a recruit NIL money instead of tuition 2. You can't keep 14 guys happy....especially when 13 of those guys just transferred/committed to your school. 14th guys on a team simply aren't making much NIL money.

Like the moving screens that were a point of emphasis that never get called anyway? The issue isn't the block/charge foul. The issue is in the failure of the NCAA to produce quality officiating.

It isn't that simple. And all you are doing is exchanging one judgement call for another. Not sure how you think that refs are magically going to get verticality calls correct when they miss block/charges. The newly defined charge rule is a step forward. Refs getting it wrong witht he newly defined rule is a separate issue because the rule establishes that the player must be set before the offensive player leaves his feet. I'd rather fix the ref issue than get rid of the block/charge rule for another rule that would just be missed.

Trilly Donovan alluding to Wilcher committing to St. John's. This would put St. John's over the scholarship limit. I believe I had heard rumors at one point that there were potential issues with one of their transfer players -- I believe it was Daniss Jenkins, who transferred from Iona to St. John's. Averaged 15.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists. If it's not because of a transfer issue, bringing in a 14th scholarship player and then bumping someone else he recruited would be a pretty shitty thing to do this late in the game.

Your response doesn’t address what I posted — you said how it would change how a defensive player would play but ignores how an offensive player can take advantage of the rule.

I also think UK is heavily disorganized in terms of their NIL. I think they lack the ability to tell recruits that player X made Y dollars because they have no idea.

Yep. I know a lot of schools have two different summer sessions where you can get a course done in a five week or so period taking the course for quite a few hours each week, but according to Illinois State's website they have a single summer session which ends on August 9th and grades aren't posted until the next week. If he's taking classes at Illinois State, he has to be paying for them since his scholarship is at UK......I can't envision a scenario where he would be taking courses at Illinois State without the intent of being a grade transfer. And although he can't enter the portal until then, there is no doubt that by then both he and the school he would be transferring to would already know it.

I'm in favor of actively trying to get it called in a more consistent manner rather than throwing my hands in the air and just giving up on it. The unintended consequence of getting rid of blocks and charges will result in players playing offense and defense with more pushes and holds, and the charge/block arguments would just change to pushes constitute. The NCAA's ref issues are fixable IF they are serious about doing it. As long as they aren't, removal of rules will just result in a more bullish style of play.

No. He's a D1 player, no need for him to accept a walk on spot. It's just a matter of where he plays D1 ball. Sounds like IU prefers others and I'm not sure they would choose to offer if they don't get others. Kentucky isn't in that boat because they need bodies. They have a hell of five man freshman class but literally nothing else.

He's really not reporting anything here that wasn't already stated by previous sources. In terms of Wilcher, if a couple of days go by and he hasn't committed to St. John's, then I would consider him open season. He's either ended his visit to St. John's or is ending it soon.
