    College Bball Thread

I'm getting really confused....have been reading some sights saying that a player who did not get drafted can still return to college as long as they announced their intention to their athletic direction prior to 5 pm Monday following the NBA draft. But the memorandums I've read from the NCAA dispute that: "Question No. 1: Is a student-athlete allowed to enter the NBA Draft prior to exhausting NCAA eligibility4 (i.e., NBA early entry candidate) and subsequently return to school? Answer: YES! A student-athlete may enter a professional basketball league’s draft without jeopardizing his collegiate eligibility, provided: a. He requests an evaluation from the NBA’s Undergraduate Advisory Committee before entering the draft; b. He withdraws his name from the NBA Draft not later than 10 days after the conclusion of the NBA Draft combine; c. He declares his intention to resume intercollegiate participation not later than 10 days after the conclusion of the NBA Draft combine. This declaration must be in writing to his director of athletics; and d. He is not drafted by any team. Seems to me that parts b and c would mean the player would have had to remove their name from the NBA draft by May 28th. https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/compliance/cbreform/2023CBR_NBADraftCombineAgentsWorkoutsMemo.pdf But here is a site that disputes that deadline: June 26th - Deadline for Undrafted Players: Monday, June 26th at 5 p.m. is the deadline for undrafted players to inform their school's Athletic Director they wish to return to college. https://www.krem.com/article/sports/local-sports/nba-draft-early-entry-process/293-623aa5d3-7af3-482d-853a-61cf2ae6d7fa#:~:text=If a player enters the, teams and their draft picks.

Ya beat me to the Toussaint one. Kriisa is the better get, though. However don't think he had much interest in coming to IU when he was in the portal.

Joe Toussaint also entered the transfer portal, per John Rothstein. Spent three years at Iowa before playing last year at West Virginia. 6'1" guard, plus defender but not great offensively. Over four years averaged 17 mpg, 6 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.8 apg. Shot 39/30/78.

Trayce Jackson-Davis - Golden State Warriors

Re: Trayce being a 5 in the body of a 4...... Starting centers in the league include Bam Adebayo is 6'9", 255. Inside player only, averages 20+ Jarrett Allen is 6'9", 243. Inside player only. 14 and 10 player. Robert Williams III, 6'9" 237 8/8 in 20 mpg. Clint Capela, 6'10" 240. 12/11 player. Kevin Looney, 6'9" 222. 7/9 player in 24 mpg Trayce measured 6'8.25" and 240 at the combine....but the heights listed above are with shoes. Looney was 6'8" at the combine and Adebayo was a touch under 6'9". While I agree that the NBA views Trayce as a 5 in the body of a 4, IMO there are tons of players like that in the NBA. And while the NBA is obviously the best league in terms of talent by far, they are also a league of copycats who want to imitate what they've seen succeed, we are also coming off a Nuggets title for a team that probably has the least athletic 4/5 combo in the NBA in Jokic and Gordon. And IMO it's more about the two of them having really good basketball IQ as opposed to their ability to shoot from the perimeter. Between them, they averaged taking 26 shots per game and under 5 were from distance.

Yahoo ranked TJD as the only A draft pick in the second round.

I look at what Kevin looney has done at golden state and have a hard time believing that TJD couldn’t at least replicate that.

TJD’s slide tells you that Edey will be back at Purdue for two more years. The NBA does not value low post players — no matter how good they are — that don’t shoot jumpers

But how is what they have now in terms of picks more attractive than what they have now? 29 this year > late first next year. Even 32 this year > late first next year.

Pacers got the guy they wanted. The second picks are 2028 picks, so kind of minimal in that regard. Still a positive trade to get something for just drafting a player and waiting one pick to get the guy you wanted. Still not happy with the trades that occurred prior to it, though -- end up getting a late 20s pick in 2024, the 47th pick this year and some cash for the 29th and 32nd pick this season. Doesn't seem equal at all.

Don't get it at all either unless the Pacers project the 2024 class to be a lot better than the 2023 class. They also traded the 40th pick to the Lakers for the 47th pick and $4.3 million. Only thing I can think of is the Pacers had an untenable situation with the glut of picks they had -- initially had 7, 26, 29, 32, and 55. Just don't know why they wouldn't try to package the 29 and 32 picks for a pick around 20 or so instead of the 40 and one likely to be in the late 20s next year.
