Akok Akok in the portal. 6’10” stretch 4/5. Played threes year at UConn and a year at Georgetown. Averaged 5.- pts and 4.7 reb in 23 minutes over 4 seasons. Shot 44/31/58.

Who would you choose to have a GREAT season?

Mike Woodson is the correct answer.

I understand their logic in denying the waiver. But in terms of the four full seasons, he was injured one season and limited to 13 games. He'll graduate playing in exactly 100 games. X has already played in 129 and has another season to go.

Omar Silverio's waiver to transfer to West Virginia denied. He will have no college eligibility left. Played as a freshman at Rhode Island in 2018-9. Transferred to Hofstra and played three years there through 2021-22. Transferred last year to Manhattan for his extra covid year but decided against playing when the Manhattan coach was fired about a week before the regular season started. I assume that he felt he would get the waiver as others have been given waiver due to coaching changes; in almost all cases, though, the coaching change is prior to the school year beginning. Assume the NCAA did not allow the waiver as Silverio chose to not play.

I would agree that it is a comment more on fit but Trilly doesn't really post in a vacuum. He has tended to make comments on teams and fit when there is some interest.

Decent late (re)entry: Ques Glover, Samford. 6'0" combo guard, more of a point. Played at Florida his freshman and sophomore years. Over two seasons averaged 3.7 points per game in 10.8 mpg. Struggled from deep. Transferred to Samford and had a breakout year in 21-22, averaging 19.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. Shot 47/31/79. In 22-23, he suffered a torn meniscus in November which kept him out for awhile but still averaged 14.7 points in 24.6 minutes over 19 games. Shot from deep better and shot 47/38/85 overeall. Committed to BYU on June 2nd but has now re-entered the portal. As a grad transfer will be immediately eligible without a waiver. Another late entry is Mike Meadows of Portland. Has played for Eastern Washington and Portland. Over the last three years averaged 10.5, 10.2, and 11.0 points. Decent three point shooter. Has shot 43/35/86 for his career.

If it were a player on that roster, Jordi wouldn’t have made sense. Don’t need a 6’6” small forward. Hernandez Garcia or Villar make more sense. Also not hearing anyone confirming it someone from that roster.

Malique Ewin back in the portal (certainly not an IU prospect). 6'10" center, was ranked 118th by 247 when he entered college. Only played spot minutes at Ole Miss. Entered the portal in the spring, signed at South Florida and now has re-entered.

If the Big Ten doesn't get Washington and Oregon, it will be because of USC. USC is very against western expansion as they feel that bringing in other west coast teams hurts their LA recruiting market.

Journey: two years at Temple. Second season shortened by a shoulder injury. Transferred to Iowa State. Achilles tendon injury came him from ever playing there. Hit the portal again this year and initially transferred to Illinois. Illini fans were not pleased at the time because it filled their last scholly I believe and didn’t seem to be a fit. Decommitted to Illinois, now going to Rutgers. point guard by nature with decent size. Not a good shooter but decent defender. Due to injuries, has played in only 38 games in three years. In 32 mpg at Temple averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 reb and 4.2 assists. Shot 42/27/64.

    (2022) - SG C. J. Gunn to DePaul

What is the measure of the season? Personally, I don't think Gunn gets as many minutes as Bates had last year.
  16. He was the one I mentioned who I thought would move on. And talk about a guy who was loyal to Pitino….he LEFT Louisville to play for Pitino at Iona and then was one the first players to follow Pitino to St John’s this year at a time when Pitino was having trouble bringing in guys
  17. Using the Torvik ratings as a guide, I'm going to be simming the 2023-4 season for IU and will be posting the results over the next month or so. I'm trying to keep to the actual IU schedule as much as possible. Non-conference schedule: Florida Gulf Coast at Assembly Hall Army at Assembly Hall Wright State at Assembly Hall Empire Classic tournament. The pairings have not been announced but IMO they would like U Conn to get into the championship game if possible and will give them the easiest matchup first; So I will have U Conn playing Louisville and IU playing Texas. Winners play each other and losers play each other. Harvard at Assembly Hall Auburn in Atlanta Kansas at Assembly Hall Morehead State at Assembly Hall North Alabama at Assembly Hall Kennesaw State at Assembly Hall. Rosters are limited to ten players. Although Torvik has Leal in the 10th spot, I have replaced him with Anthony Walker. Starters are Johnson, Galloway, Mgbako, Reneau, and Ware; bench is Sparks, Banks, Cupps, Newton, and Walker. First sim has been simmed: IU opens at home against Florida Gulf Coast. Torvik is high on FGC, ranking them 118th overall and second in the Atlantic Sun. PC Stellar predicted IU by 14 points. First half saw a back and forth afair for the first fifteen minutes or so. Xavier Johnson got in early foul trouble and only played 4 minutes in the first half, forcing Gabe Cupps to play a lot of minutes. Cupps repsonded well. Toward the end of the half, back-to-back three pointers by Ke'lel Ware (who was scoreless up to that point) separated IU from FGC, giving the Hoosiers a 40-30 halftime lead. FGC cut it to six early in the second half before IU stretched it as far as 15 in the second half. Final score was IU 81, FGC 73 although FGC never really threatened late in the game. Stats: Florida Gulf Coast: 26 of 68 from the field (38%), 5 of 20 from three (25%), 16 of 18 free throws (89%), 17 fouls, 39 reb, 8 assists, 9 turnovers, 1 block, 4 steals, 73 points. INDIANA Johnson: 19 minutes, 7/13 shooting, 1/1 from three, 1/1 ft, 1 reb, 5 fouls, 2 ast, 1 steal, 1 to, 16 points Galloway: 28 minutes, 1/6 shooting, 0/1 from three, no ft, 1 reb, 2 fouls, 3 ast, 2 steals, 2 to, 2 points Mgbako: 31 minutes, 4/10 shooting, 1/3 from three, 2/4 ft, 8 reb, 3 fouls, 2 ast, 1 to, 11 points Reneau: 22 minutes, 3/7 shooting, 3/3 ft, 5 reb, 2 fouls, 3 ast, 2 to, 9 points Ware: 28 minutes, 4/7 shooting, 2/4 from three, 0/2 ft, 8 reb, 0 fouls, 3 ast, 1 st, 3 bs, 1 to, 10 points Sparks: 12 minutes, 1/3 shooting, no ft, 7 reb, 0 fouls, 1 st, 2 to, 2 points Banks: 18 minutes, 3/6 shooting, 1/3 ft, 9 reb, 3 fouls, 1 bs, 1 to, 7 points Cupps: 26 min, 4/9 shooting, 2/4 from three, 5/5 ft, 3 reb, 1 foul, 2 ast, 1 to, 15 points Newton: 9 min, 1/3 shooting, 0/1 from three, 1 reb, 1 ast, 2 points Walker: 7 min, 3/4 shooting, 1/1 ft, 2 reb, 1 foul, 1 ast, 7 points IU TOTALS: 31/68 shooting (46%), 6/14 from three (43%), 13/19 ft (68%), 45 reb, 17 fouls, 17 ast, 4 bs, 5 st, 11 to
