I feel old.....this year I have a student in my class whose father played against Robbie Hummel in high school. She's a junior.

We lost a lot this past season and I think we landed on our feet okay.

Honestly, these kind of announcements are really done for friends/classmates/family. Just so happens that you have a large number of people watching it in today's world.

Do know one thing -- if Cal did pony up more money than we did, none of that money went to the announcement stream.

I will say if I were a top recruit, I think I'd forgo the whole announcement date ceremony. Rarely is it an actual edge of your seat surprise. Not sure who is releasing the info -- someone from the family, the school, the media -- but putting hats on a table when people know what you are picking up is pretty silly.

One thing we can be sure of, the NCAA will never accuse of sending scouts to games to steal opposing teams signals.

He'll be pretty good. He is more physically ready than I think a lot of people think. He's going to get playing time this year, so he should come in with some growth in 2024-25.

FWIW.....there are still only two Crystal Balls on 247 for Boogie Fland to UK. The first an Inside Maryland basketball contributor; the second was an Inside Maryland basketball publisher. Rivals has seen more action -- five saying Fland to UK, three of which switched from IU to UK and two which are new predictions. I do think that tells you to take the Crystal Ball predictions as more serious predictors than Rivals. Rivals seems to have more people trying to up percentages by hopping on the bandwagon.

How IU fans view Cal is not how recruits view Cal. Personally, take the names off of the schools and I'd rather lose to a recruit to Cal than to Bill Self or Bryce Drew. Cal does care about getting talent but I do believe he wants his player's to succeed in the NBA. Bryce Drew and Bill Self IMO only care about their players while they are on campus. Cal said years ago (and it got him in a lot of hot water with Kentucky fans) that the happiest day he could have as a coach was 5 players going in the first round of the NBA draft. That resonates with players even if it doesn't with fans.

I think it’s Kentucky but still would not be shocked if it’s not.

I honestly like the starting five of Ware, Reneau, M, Galloway, and X. X and Galloway are both high motor guys, And if the threesome MM, Reneau, and Ware mesh at the 3-4-5, that is an ultra talented group, While we don’t have a TJD anymore, we also aren’t relying on the Parker Stewart’s and Miller Kopp’s to play big minutes.

“These people” so far has equated to exactly two predictors.

FWIW, the thought that 'all these forecasters' had changed their prediction just based on the Trilly tweet -- exactly one person on 247 has predicted Fland to Kentucky after the tweet and exactly one predictor on Rivals flipped their prediction from IU to Kentucky. That's it. I'm not saying Fland to IU.....just saying that the thought that predictors are just lemmings that follow what Trilly tweets isn't the case or you'd see a bunch of Crystal balls of Fland to Kentucky it the couple of hours since his tweet.

He won't be the last recruit we really, really wanted that goes elsewhere if he does indeed announce Kentucky tomorrow as is expected. MM won't be the last recruit we get that we didn't envision happening just a month prior. Live and learn. Anyway, HH tomorrow. 2024-2025 season is a long way away....2023-24 is just around the corner.
