Review takes the two points off the board. Not a fan of reviews that occur three minutes in game time after the shot. Two free throws by Nebraska put it back to 58-55

Nebraska 58-55 at the under 8, although they will review a goal tending call they made a few minutes ago that could make it 56-55

Nebraska is literally playing fifteen feet off of Coen Carr when he's on the perimeter.

The bench T at Iowa last year followed by McCaffrey getting T’d late in the game and then the refs waving the T off was nuts.

  9. I gave one name in this very thread and he was a guy that was likely not only obtainable but had a solid record of shooting the ball. And I guarantee you that where he ended up is paying a fraction of the NIL money he would have gotten at IU. IU never looked at him as an option. And the bottom line is that it was pretty obvious that we needed backcourt help. I am a Woodson defender in most cases, but he did fail in getting necessary guards in the portal. And whether or I not I threw out options in the portal (people will back me up that I threw out tons of potential options as well as players I liked, some of which were under the radar. But in the end it's not the job of fans to fill the scholarships.....the coaching staff has the resources to do so and didn't do it. That was a failure on their part.
  10. I will say I didn't understand the Anthony Walker signing, but he has been excellent in a reserve role. I was expecting much more from Payton Sparks.
  11. Pretty much everyone on here wanted a guard in the portal, so I wouldn't say it was hindsight.
  12. As slow as Trey is, with X out he is still our only guy that provides any dribble penetration.
  13. I wanted him but if he were truly asking for offensive autonomy, it was better to move on. The issue IMO wasn't about not getting Love, it was about not getting any other guard. One guy I had said IU should have considered was Payton Sparks team mate at Ball State, Jaylin Sellers. He was a knock down shooter at Ball State -- 45% three point shooter over two years. And ended up at UCF and while his three point shots haven't been falling (29%), he is absolutely killing it there -- 20.6 points and 5.1 rebounds and despite his low three point shooting percentage right now, is shooting 49% overall. And the three pointers will start falling for him as there is too much history of him hitting them.

Always loved watching Colorado State when David Roddy was there. I'm still a little surprised at Roddy's success in the NBA given his 6'4", 255 pound size, but he's been a 20 min+ guy for the Grizzlies.

Just in case anyone is interested, I will be recreating the Big Ten teams in PC Stellar basketball after Christmas and simming out the conference season for all Big Ten teams. Am expecting that IU will be in the middle of the pack. IMO, with IU's schedule the Hoosiers will need 20 total wins including the conference tournament to make the NCAA tournament. If we assume they go 3-1 in the next four games, they would be 10-3 with 18 conference games left + the BTT. So that would mean they would need to go 9-9 in the post Jan 1 games + win one BTT game or go 10-8 in the remaining games. The Big Ten is just not very good this year and we might see the situation that occurred in the ACC last year where a couple of decent records still didn't get in.
  16. When I said 'hope', I meant as fans we were hoping that we would have both X and another portal guard. It wasn't defending our offseason moves but rather saying we needed to add a guard and didn't.
  17. It hasn't been pretty, but I think just including the ones 'we scheduled ourselves' just removes the two games marquee matchups we won last year (at Xavier by 2 and at home against North Carolina by 12). Bottom is we haven't done well in big games out of conference, but I think you have to include the whole picture because no one ever just looks at only the ones teams 'scheduled themselves'.
  18. All indications are that Caleb Love told the staff that he basically wanted full freedom on the offensive end. While we certainly could use Love's defensive skill, I think there were much better gets in portal/late commits that would have helped more. Love still is a guy who likes to put up a lot of threes but doesn't hit many. Given the choice between a healthy X or Love, I'm taking X. The problem is that we were hoping for a healthy X PLUS another backcourt addition.
  19. Nothing guarantees future success. But I'll hire a coach with regular season and NCAA success ten times out of ten over someone whose success is winning a conference tournament.
  20. Can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not if you think winning a conference tournament is a better indicator of a coach's success than winning a regular season conference title or advancing far in the NCAA tournament is.
  21. Sounds pretty confrontational to say someone needs mental help.
  22. LOL. Pretty easy solution for you if you think I'm being confrontational. Also if you think I'm being confrontational, you might want to read up on self-actualization.
  23. So winning a conference tournament = winning consistently against good competition? Let's hire Patrick Ewing. He's free.
  24. The reason Archie didn't work wasn't because he didn't win the A-10 tournament.
