Ya do realize that Archie was 12-15 with those guys? And that the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th leading scorers whom accounted for 40% of the scoring transferred?

I wouldn't say the recruiting is in the crapper. I would say that the team construction is in the crapper. I like Ke'lel Ware, but imagine if IU had picked up one of the top portal transfers who was a guard instead of Ware. Let's say IU had Knecht instead of Ware. Reneau could slide over to the 5.

General Coach Candidate News
RaceToTheTop replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
One of those has a reason to deny it. The other doesn't. Funny how, if he wasn't offered that deal that all of a sudden he moved from being the Celtics coach to the Celtics president with a nice pay raise and no day-to-day coaching and travel that a coach has. -
First time I've been excited for a season to start not really caring about the immediate results. Figure it will take a few years to get it in full gear but excited to see a team that doesn't play scared.

Dayton has been a mixed bag. From 1947-1989 they only had two coaches and both retired. Jim O'Brien became an assistant at Kentucky after he left and then kicked around the NBA as a head coach. Oliver Purnell went to Clemson from Dayton and took over a bad program and built it into a respectable that made three straight tournies. Brian Gregory left for Georgia Tech and failed and then didn't have success at South Florida either.
-
To be fair, he went to three tournaments there after the Flyers had only made the tournament seven times in their history prior. And since he left, they made the tourney with his players the year after he left and haven't been back since. Archie had success at Dayton.....certainly didn't at IU.

Don't you hate it when you invite some giant over to your house and he hits you on the head while your parents give him all kind of snacks and yell at you for defending yourself? Anyway, I hate Zach Edey.

If Nebraska doesn't make the tournament, they might have tonight's game to thank. Gotta be kicking themselves.

There isn’t a team in college basketball with a six man rotation, and for good reason. -

Yeah, good ole ESPN. :) NBAdraft.net updated their first round mock yesterday; Ware 29, Edey not there. Yardbarker updated their first round mock today — Ware 14, Edey not there. Tankathon has Ware at 18 and Edey at 21. No one would argue that Ware is a better college player than Edey….but that’s not what the NBA is about. The NBA game today presents a lot of issues for Edey. TJD has gotten by his lack of perimeter game with very quick interior moves. Edey doesn’t have that….all he has is size. -

What is kind of sad is that Ware’s draft prospects are probably higher than Edey’s. Such a strange shift the NBA has made in the last decade. -

I think if we had used Ware in that role, Purdue switches Edey to Reneau. -

FWIW< the final was actually 87-66. Peacock score operator has it wrong, like he did most of the game. -

What's funny about that double dribble is that he did it under the hoop but after he dribbled it out and picked it up, they called it -

Purdue is very good, but this kind of Big Ten reffing is exactly why they won't do anything in March. -
