Bracketology and Team Resumes
RaceToTheTop replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Going to do my bracketology calculations tonight for Big Ten teams (it compares # of wins I project a team needs to make the tournament based on their schedule). Rule of thumb is any team that finishes at a +1 or better on my system is close to a lock for the tournament. FWIW, based on current Pom team ratings, my project for minimum record based on IU's schedule and Pom ratings of teams would be 19-13 in the regular season. -

How long until U Conn steals him away? -
FWIW, one of the ranked long snappers on that list is in a class I teach. Great kid. I can tell you that people would be impressed with how much work that the ranked long snappers have to put in get the accolades. For most of them, long snapping is all they do for their team. Kid in my class has been at tons of long snapping camps. Snapped for us for four years and never had a bad snap in that time.

TEAM win. That was the best part. Nip and tuck all game and any time it looked like Michigan could pull away, IU answered. 77 points and no one with more than 15. 8 players with 6 or more, 28 points off the bench. -

Wasn't able to watch it live but followed the score and saw the last ten seconds of the game (or really, like last five minutes in real time with all the stoppages). Wanting to watch the replay on peacock but they are still loading it. Hopefully soon as I'm already staying up wayyyyy too late to watch it. -
Over/under on Francon's second technical ejection today?
-
Need to cut them some slack.....they are trying to get out of the Big Ten basement today.
-
They've got Dainja in a much better role to succeed this year as well. Mostly coming off the bench and playing when the matchup is there. Too often last year he was in regardless of matchup. They've also gotten almost nothing out of Hawkins so far due to injury.

I believe it counts as a home game. -
If Florida State wins their bowl game and either Alabama or Texas wins the CFP, Florida State will be the only undefeated team at the end of the year.

CBS Sports updated prediction has Michigan #1, Washington #2, Florida State #3, Texas #4. NCAA.com's Stan Becton: Michigan #1, Washington #2, Florida State #3, Texas #4. Sporting News: Michigan #1, Washington #2, Alabama #3, Florida State #4 Fox Sports: Michigan #1, Washington #2, Alabama #3, Florida State #4 College Football News: Michigan #1, Washington #2, Texas #3, Alabama #4 On the ESPN college football show, the three results were (in no particular order): Michigan, Washington, Texas, Alabama Michigan, Washington, Texas, Alabama Michigan, Washington, Florida State, Alabama ------------------------------------ Unscientific totals: Washington and Michigan unanimous choices. Florida State in on 5 of the 8; Texas in on 5 of the 8; Alabama in on 6 on the 8.

Sigh….real ESPN ‘story’ about Bronny James ‘raining threes’ during warmups. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39030917/usc-bronny-james-takes-part-pregame-drills-return-nears

Silly play review here. EDIT: I thought they ruled incomplete on the field.
-
I will say I’m fine with Florida State losing…..don’t care for their program. I just think if a power 5 team can go undefeated and get left out of the BCS, what was the point of them playing their games?
-
If you are asking me if Florida State would be favored against Alabama on a neutral field -- even if Florida State had their starting QB -- absolutely not. Washington wouldn't either and they would likely be an underdog playing Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. So should we eliminate Washington? I think you would agree that if Washington and Georgia had a pick 'em line, you'd put money on Georgia over Washington. It's my opinion that the teams with the best season should be in the BCS, not the ones who would be favored. If Alabama's fourth and 31 pass had fallen incomplete against Auburn, they are still the same team they are now....but would you argue that if they were 11-2 they should be in over Florida State because they are better than Florida State? Wins and losses matter IMO.

Teams already pouncing. Two days ago it was reported he already had 10 schools that had NIL offers exceeding $1 million for him. Miami, Ohio State, Texas A&M, Washington, and Auburn in the mix. https://www.si.com/fannation/name-image-likeness/athletes/brock-huard-says-cam-ward-has-seven-figure-deals-waiting-for-him-to-transfer-jake9

The offense looks terrible. The defense looks pretty damn dominant. And if we are going to disqualify teams for looking really bad during a late season win, let's eliminate Alabama due to their Auburn win.
-
I don't hate the SEC. It is the best conference in football, although this season I would say that margin is as small as it has been in recent memory. But you are even saying Alabama should be in over Texas, whom they lost to. Sagarin rates Texas' SOS as 2nd in the country; Alabama is 15th. Texas will move to the #1 SOS after today's championship game, Alabama will move to around 5. So you are discounting both an undefeated record in one case AND a head to head victory in another case. Texas had the same record, had BOTH the best regular season AND conference title championship AND a schedule ranked the toughest in the country. Exactly how are you moving Alabama ahead of Texas?

Iowa is the single least enjoyable to watch 10 win team I've ever seen.
