This is the thing: if there were that many uncalled fouls on Edey, the number of fouls that Northwestern would have been called for would have greatly dropped because they wouldn't have needed to foul Edey so much because he would have been in foul trouble or out of the game. It's a chain reaction. Ant tracking the uncalled fouls also doesn't account for the legitimacy of the fouls that were actually called. I look at a guy like Mason Gillis -- who didn't attempt a single shot inside the arc and wasn't a guy grabbing a lot of rebounds -- and see he shot 8 free throws. Strange thing is he had only shot more than 2 free throws once all year and even then that was only 4.
-
Two things are true: 1. Northwestern did foul more than Purdue and 2. They did not foul to the disparity it was called. i don’t think I’ve ever seen a game where 46-8 would be legit.
-
Mizzou will be dropping their eighth straight game and 11th of 12.
-
Food for thought: Northwestern had 8 free throws. Mason Gillis had 8 free throws. Mason Gillis did not take a single shot inside the arc.
-
Zach Edey simply doesn't need the help he gets.
-
What's funny is that Matt Painter has a cheat code in Zach Edey and when he gets to the tournament, he can't get past the first level.

36 free throws to 7.

I'm not missing the point. Hummel, Martin, and Moore are all from Lake/Porter Counties in Northwest Indiana. That is huge Purdue territory. IU always had trouble getting recruits from that area even when IU was in their heyday. Matt Nover was from Porter County and Dan Dakich, and the mistake that was Grant Gelon were from Lake County and went to IU and maybe there are some I'm missing, but that has been a region of Indiana that has always been Purdue recruit territory going back to the Keady/Knight days. Meanwhile, players like Hummel, Martin, Moore, Glenn Robinson, the McQuay brothers, Stefanovoski, Carson Cunningham, Brandon Brantley, all immediately come to mind as guys who went to high school in Lake/Porter and went to Purdue. In terms of IU not being the same IU at the point, you also need to keep in mind that Hummel, Martin, and Moore all committed to Purdue their Junior year of high school. Purdue was 7-21 the year before they committed and 9-19 the year they committed.

One correction in your schedule, LCS, - you had IU playing at Maryland twice. The next to last is at Minnesota. Currently, those games would be: Penn State, NET 127: quad 3 at Ohio State, NET 73: quad 1 at Purdue, NET 2: quad 1 Northwestern NET 59, quad 2 Nebraska, NET 58, quad 2 at Penn State, NET 127: quad 2 Wisconsin, NET 11: quad 1 at Maryland, NET 81: quad 2 at Minnesota, NET 94: quad 2 Michigan State, NET 24: quad 1 Two of those games look to border quad 1/2: if Ohio State were to drop three in NET, they drop to a quad 2; if Maryland gains 5 in NET, they would be quad 1. As a hypothetical, let's say IU wins all five home games and beats Penn State and Minnesota on the road (7-3 is still a pretty tall task IMO, but it is possible). IU's overall record is 20-11 as LCS mentioned. By quads, IU would be: Q1: 2-9 Q2: 7-2 Q3: 5-0 Q4: 6-0 While IU's efficiency numbers wouldn't be great, that's not a bad resume for a bubble team. 20 Q1/2 games, 9 Q1/2 wins, no Q3/Q4 losses and only 6 Q4 games. Here are the records and quad records of the first four at large bids last year: Mississippi State 21-12 Q1: 3-9 Q2: 3-1 Q3: 5-2 Q4: 10-0 Arizona State 22-12 Q1: 3-4 Q2: 4-4 Q3: 4-3 Q4: 11-1 Pittsburgh 21-11 Q1: 3-5 Q2: 3-3 Q3: 5-1 Q4: 11-2 Nevada 21-10 Q1: 5-4 Q2: 5-5 Q3: 5-2 Q4: 6-0 ---- So in the scenario of IU winning all five home and two road, I like IU's resume more than three of the four resumes of the last four teams in last year (I like Nevada's 2023 resume over IU's 2024). But you can see that often teams on the bubble have gotten to 20-22 wins but racking up a ton of Q4 wins, something IU will hasn't done because they've only had 4 of those type of games. -

Ben Krikke has hit an absolute wall for Iowa. He was averaging over 16 points per game until four games ago. Last four games he has had to play against size -- Edey, Reese, Reed, and Ware -- and has averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds on 10 of 37 shooting. -

A major issue they had last night with him was him playing his son down the stretch. -

Ware was anything but soft tonight. Played through obvious pain. -
IU has one quad two win that could fall to a quad three soon (home game against Ohio State) but also has a quad three win that could shortly move into quad two territory (Maryland). Good thing about IU's 7 quad one losses is there isn't really any one right now in danger of falling to quad two anytime soon.

I feel like I may be the only guy defending him, but I think Anthony Walker takes way too much flack from IU fans. I never doubt his effort and everything I've seen from him shouts great team mate. He's a decent bench player -- don't know who else we have on the bench that can put up 6 points in 16 minutes per game off the bench. Only thing I would change was eliminating his three point shot altogether. Don't know how many people caught it, but he was really choked up when X went down. Walker had been benched for most of the second half at that point but he wasn't sitting there sulking.....dude has known X less than a year and took it harder than anyone. -

Pom had Iowa rated as the 19th best offense in D1, so holding them to 68 is a huge positive. Pom had predicated an 82-80 Iowa win and had at #44 overall. -
