I want guys to return that fit what needs to be done to make this program better and are all in. Not going to speculate who they will be because I'm just a guy behind a keyboard with no intimate knowledge other than guesses. What is for sure is that X and Walker are gone as they are out of eligibility and that Ware likely is as he enters the draft. So at the minimum there are three openings next year. Likely more just based on law of averages.

Sampson's team was 21-11 his first year. The next year they were 22-4 at the time he was bought out and then went 3-4 the rest of the way. But I'm not going to put that 3-4 on Dakich as it really was a result of Sampson's actions that lead to the team hitting the shitter at the end of the year.

You think we can hold them to 49 in the first 30 minutes? I kid, I kid. Just have to hope for things to get better because I don't have any control over anyway.
-
I really couldn't care less what team is 'blue blood' and who isn't. I care about whether the system and everything it encompasses is there to sustain winning. And you don't have to be a traditional 'blue blood' to do that nor does being a traditional power mean you'll continue winning.

Both players are from Carrollton. Mosley is a 2026 recruit. Could just be a case of two buddies going on a college visit together but Mosley only being the one interested in potentially going to IU.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks that competing for a college championship is all that important to high school players who haven't played a single college game. If I'm an elite player, #1-3 are NIL, how well I fit to up my draft stock, and how I fit into the rotaiton. -
Indiana since Knight: 451-316; big ten 209-211. Throwing out this season to only include complete seasons, that would put IU at 438-307 and 204-205 in Big Ten play. Over 24 seasons, that is an average record of about 19-13 and 10-10 in Big Ten play. 13 NCAA tournaments in 24 seasons. 17-13 record in the NCAA tournament. So over 24 years, we have averaged being a bubble team.

Honestly, if you do believe to be true then there is optimism. Just takes the right guy in place to turn it around if the resources are there.

Anthony Leal vs Penn State - Saturday, 02.03.24 @ Noon on FS1

Brad Stevens left millions upon millions on the table to not do it and leveraged it into getting out of coaching altogether with a nice pay raise. -
At the end of the 22 season, Bacot announced he would be coming back for another year. At the end of the 23 season, Bacot announced he was coming back. Mock drafts felt he would have gone undrafted. He's now a fifth year senior and not even the most important player on North Carolina. That's RJ Davis. Bacot is a really good college player but as bad as the ACC is this year, I'm not sure that North Carolina isn't still the best team in the ACC even if they were without him.

They selected 20 years….not exactly a small sample size.

If you do lie about minutes enough, that eventually makes its rounds to recruits and they are less likely to recruit. But the kansases of the world are able to get by with it because they are just bringing in a different burger boy if someone doesn’t commit. -

I agree that we aren’t going to see many changes in the system. So if we are going to be a better shooting team, we have to have better shooters…particularly guards. -

Updated WAR through today's games (note: won't have time to put the Arizona game in tomorrow morning, so I am listing it currently as a win -- they are up 3 right now with about 7 minutes to go against Stanford. If they lose, I'll change it). Top 25: Purdue 21-2, WAR +9 U Conn 20-2, +6.85 Houston 19-3, +6.29 UNC 18-4, +5.08 Kansas 17-4, +4.96 Arizona 17-5, +4.77 South Carolina 19-3, +4.56 Marquette 17-5, +4.45 Tennessee 16-5, +4.45 Dayton 19-3, +4.30 Wisconsin 16-6, +4.04 San Diego State 15-5, +4.03 Alabama 16-6, +4.00 Mississippi 18-4, +3.89 Auburn 18-4, +3.85 Utah State 19-3, +3.85 Illinois 17-5, +3.74 Indiana State 20-3, +3.71 Baylor 15-5, +3.37 Grand Canyon 20-2, +3.19 Florida Atlantic 18-4, +3.15 Texas Tech 16-5, +2.97 Colorado State 15-5, +2.87 Duke 16-5, +2.58 Creighton 16-5, +2.55 Just out: Iowa State 16-5, +2.35, Utah 15-7, +2.33, Virginia 17-5, +2.29, BYU 16-5, +2.24, Oklahoma 16-6, +2.23. I did find an error I made last week on BYU and corrected it. -

Crean hit home runs and strike out a lot. Since Crean we've mostly had singles and ground outs. The difference is that in basketball you can bench the strike outs and ground outs. Home runs are very important. -
Or the yearly 'point of emphasis' in reffing that is gone within a month of the start of the season.

I don't think I've ever met someone so obsessed with a sports radio personality. Keep doing you, Stan Dakich.
-
Obviously you can't refute what I am saying and aren't going to bother. Again, have a good day.
-
LOL. Yeah, posters haven't been littering IU message boards with those thoughts the last 10 to 15 years. Have a good day.
-
And some people listen to him and think he is correct more than he actually is because they agree with his politics. C'est la vie. But in terms of culture of the program, exactly what has he said that hasn't been said a thousand times on this site? His message isn't unique, period.
-
Except he's not really saying things that you hadn't already read on most message boards. Giving a guy a microphone doesn't make him smarter, just gives him a platform.
-
His problem IMO is that when he hits the mark he drones on and on about it but when he misses he won't even acknowledge he was wrong. And when he gets called out on it, he becomes a fourth graded with a twitter account. Example: 2017-18 season he was calling the Indiana/Wisky game (believe it was on ESPN). He accused De'ron Davis of exaggerating his injury in practice to 'get sympathy and attention'. Davis ended up playing only 10 minutes that game and then after the game they found out that the injury was a torn achilles and he was unable to play the rest of the year. Dakich was radio silent on being wrong and certainly never apologized to Davis.

My least favorite call in college basketball: missed shot. Player A blocks out. Player B hits player A's hands, cause the ball to go off player A's hands and it goes out of bounds. Ref does not call a foul on B but gives the ball to team A. Basically the ref is deciding that the reason the ball went out of bounds was the slap but doesn't feel the slap was strong enough to call a foul.
