Missouri looks like dog crap with Bates….Bates provides shooting but is still probably a worse defender than anyone IU has.

I’d be out of place on the bench and Armond Hill already owns that position.

That’s everybody’s intention until reality hits. If MM is gone after this year it’s not to the draft.

It's not in my nature to root for IU to lose. Not judging anyone else, just am still going to root for IU to win every game left. Who the coach is in the future is beyond my pay grade. Regardless of what happens the rest of the year and wanting this program to get better. Hope that the right decisions are made based on results. I'll be at the last game of the year and know that with the current trajectory that the team could be met with some boo birds. Can't personally do it.

"everyone" is a big term to throw around. And the truth is the one person who should be taking the booing most personally is Woody. It's his product on the floor.

Switch "Trey" and "Woody" and it reads "Woody has a choice. He can step up and block out all the things making him upset, be the leader or not but his frustration is not because Trey done this or that". And THAT makes more sense than the reverse. Woody is in scapegoat mode right now and it's very bothersome.

100% doesn't matter what Fife's opinion was. Assistant coaches that defy the head coach on scholarship offers won't -- and shouldn't -- stay around a program for long. And FWIW I had heard about this before Woodson's first season had even started. This wasn't a 'panic because there is only one recruit signed' time.

The ones that do it that are successful don't do it to the press. The one thing I will give Archie Miller credit for was he kept things in house for the most part.

In proper context, the board SHOULD have been extremely happy about him enrolling at IU. That was 2021 with an extremely different in what the portal was. Johnson was rated as the 18th best transfer in that class.

That, in a nutshell, is the biggest issue. I could somewhat stomach the team stumbling if the head coach acknowledged that there are issues that have been identified and they are trying to fix. At this I feel like at some point during the year he has thrown Ware ('if he decides to play'), Reneua ('he played awful'), Cupps ('he's just a freshman') all under the bus. And he's thrown Banks, Sparks, and now Walker under the bus by burying them on the bench. Only guy I've seen him defend is Mgbako and that was early on when he was struggling. At what point does a coach start to realize that if the players/system isn't jelling, it's not a player issue but rather a coaching one? The truth is this is the exact same system IU ran last year. Only difference is TJD and JHS covered up a lot of warts. But the talent IU has individually is good enough to win now. Collectively, there are issues in the roster construction but losing at home to Penn State, Northwestern, and Nebraska wasn't a talent issue.

The issue wasn't the value of players Woodson brought into the program in the offseason. A five star and two four star freshmen, a top ten portal transfer, and a couple of rotational pieces. The issue was the whole unevenness of it. We replaced JHS with two guards -- one who wouldn't play a minute due to an injury that was already known and the other who really shouldn't have been expected to shoulder the load as a freshman. MM hasn't had the year I thought he would so I'm not going to cry about that -- think he was expected to do more. Also not going to cry about adding Walker late because we had two scholarships open but to see the need for guard to be addressed and just sit on an open scholly ...... wow. The fact is that Miller Kopp was probably a better player than we knew because he shot 40% from three in this system.

Probably the worst sign for the program would be Galloway transferring. Losing a guy who committed to the Archie, never entered the portal despite not knowing who the new coach would be and stayed committed after Woodson was hired and who has always been 100% Indiana would be very, very telling. I know that there is a lot of people who say that Galloway isn't a starter on a good power five team, but the bigger issue to me is that he has been put into a role where he is asked to do things that are too heavy of a load.

I would agree. If it's Pearl's orbit making whispers, it's more likely to be about a raise at Auburn.

UCLA was 11, 12, and 21st in offensive efficiency the last three full seasons. He runs a slower tempo and is known more for defense but when he's had the right personnel the offense has been solid.

I like May but Cronin is a good coach as well. I don't know about him leaving UCLA, though.

C USA was solid in its last year. FAU went to the final four and the NIT championship was between two CUSA teams. You also aren't mentioning that while the defensive efficiency dropped, the offensive efficiency rose. It seems to me that you are using Florida Atlantic's overachievement in 2022-23 against May. Regression was to be expected even with everyone back. Fact remains that this year's FAU numbers would have the Owls as the third best offensive team in the Big Ten and there would still be five worse defensive teams. Overall efficiency would put them fifth in the Big Ten this year and solidly in the tournament despite not having the talent of some teams that are ahead of.

Yes, which is why if you are looking at up and comers you should probably look at the regular season and not the tournament. Going to need luck to advance far with a team that is less talented than P5 teams. In those terms, May has succeeded so far. No guarantees but he does check that box.
