Of course Purdue fans are ecstatic. They haven't played a double digit seed yet. -

He is, but you can't just look at usage. When you are getting used more you are going to be drawing more attention from the opposing coach. Reneau wasn't double teamed much last year. He was this year. -

Ware is much, much better than he was at Oregon. -

That's basically what I was alluding to. I think most would agree there are some things that fans do that cross the line. If you are going to throw a dig out, make it about the actions and not the person. And don't make it vague. -

Portal may produce more knowns that incoming freshman, but it is still a crap shoot. Could say you are playing craps with one die already thrown. When you look at the Ivy League transfers of Dingle, Ledlum, and Ryan Langborg I don't think anyone would have guessed that Langborg would be the highest scorer of the three after transferring. -

From what you had heard from about behind the scenes, were you surprised that he thanked Dolson? -
I would imagine if what happened in basically every professional league happens in NCAA bball, as the NIL money gets bigger the top end players will see their values explode while the $250K players stay pretty stagnant.

Just my opinion: 1. Woodson's comments are what I expect from him. There are lots of @sses in the world, though. Bob Knight was one but he won consistently and to a high degree. Knight and Woodson both feel like they don't own the media or fans explanations. Knight obviously was a MUCH better coach -- not debatable -- so most IU fans accepted the ego. That's the bottom line, Woodson's ego doesn't match results which is why he's not liked. 2. In terms of Leal, what he said could have been more nuanced. Speech was short and obviously everyone is focused on the 'real fans' line. Would have been better if he said something like 'we really need the support from the fans....it's can be tough when your own fans are rooting against you'. Might not have pleased some fans, but would have been a more digestable message. Leaving it at an open ended 'true fans' stated leaves too much interpretation. -

FWIW (not sure if I posted this, started to post it before but got called away), but in terms of fan reaction to Woodson in pregame introductions I was expecting a very harsh crowd reaction. Was most definitely more cheers than boos, at least 75/25 (although I didn't do an official count, LOL). Scott Dolson didn't get booed during a TV timeout when he was on court presenting an award to a former IU athlete, but considering he was giving an award to an 80+ year old man it would have been pretty rough to boo at that point. I didn't stay for the senior day ceremonies but did listen to them on the radio on the way home. When I heard Woody's speech and Leal's comment, I was expecting to hear mostly cheers and a light smattering of boos -- it was a senior day ceremony so I wouldn't have expecting much booing but I would have thought some would have. But I didn't hear any audible boos on the radio. Anyway, not speaking to how anyone felt on BTB about the speech, just letting you know what I observed at the game. -
For me personally, it's not so much as a 'should get him' as it might be an easier get than some others because if they are looking to move closer to him it's a fit. Not saying they would be 'musts' but personally I don't share the dislike for Booker that you do. I'm not saying that we should go out and get him if he enters and plan on building the offense around him.

Dana Altman of Oregon. He didn’t retire but if there is someone worse than woods to fans, it’s him. After Oregon lost their opener in the NIT at home last year he called out the fans. He also was absolutely brutal to Ward in the media when he was there. -
Kylan Blackmon of Coastal Carolina in the portal. 6’1” guard, 11.6 ppg, 36% three point shooter

Going to be a lot of people picking them as a 12 to upset a 5

Did IU give him 500K to visit? As in if he didn't commit to IU, would he have gotten 500K? That wouldn't seem legal even with NIL. -

BTW, if you blinked you missed Anthony Walker's speech. Also was expecting that X would have talked longer. -

I thought he might have had a little line about 'real fans' but I don't recall. He gave a really long speech and his final line was "So I'll be coming back next to play in front of the best fans in the country, best place in Assembly Hall and the best coach in the country." You can take that last part as a dig at the fans or as him showing appreciation for Woodson. Personally, I think from the way he talked about Woodson that it was appreciation mostly and partially him expressing hurt from hearing fans talk about the coach he likes. I don't like Woodson as a coach, I don't like the way he refuses to answers questions and I don't like the way he doesn't take responsibility. But if Trey is willing to say the things he did -- even if they were exaggerated -- I think at the minimum that he does Woodson to stay on. -

Side note because this wasn''t Woody who said it. Asking for guesses at who did say it when asked about speculation that he was retiring (FWIW, he was a guy I criticized for how he handled situations last year). “I have no idea who said that,” (blank) said after Tuesday’s practice. “I’m not sure who said it; I know I didn’t. I have talked to nobody. Whoever is saying that is pure speculation. I’m not going anywhere — unless the school tells me I’m not here — but no, I’m not retiring, that’s for sure.” -
Google "Accusations or Portal Target Kel'el Ware's Laziness...". He was given the exact same label coing to IU. I'm not saying that Booker's effort will improve, but Ware's effort by all accounts wasn't great at Oregon. Players can change. I'd certainly prefer a high effort, talented player but the chance that it does improve is there.
-
Dana Altman said the exact same thing about Ke'lel Ware not wanting to work hard and get dirty on a mediocre Oregon team. He also shot way too many threes for them. And he doesn't have to be Ke'lel Ware to be a useful player.

A P5 is going to take a chance on him because of 2022-23 instead of 2023-24.

I haven't really read many posts here saying Woodson's speech was okay. I guess the difference I see and why I am more willing to give Galloway and Leal a pass than Woodson is that Woodson's speech came from a small, vindictive place -- and it's not the first time. Galloway and Leal's IMO came from a place of frustration for fans booing the team, saying personal things about them and their team mates, and openly rooting for them to lose. And I would say that if they did go out and play horribly and IU lost -- something a lot of fans wanted -- they still would have been subject to vitriol for how bad they were. I think they were in a no win situation, whether they won or lost. Just my take. -

Maryland NET 77. 15-16 record, 2 quad 1 wins, 4 quad 2 wins. 4 quad 3 losses. NET non con SOS 289, overall SOS 86. Indiana NET 93. 18-13 record. Beat Maryland twice. 3 quad 1 wins, 5 quad 2 wins. 1 quad 3 loss. NET non con 90, overall SOS 21. I don't know how much evidence there needs to be that NET is weighing efficiency WAY too much. -
Oh, I don't.

Funny thing while ‘neither defending or criticizing the BOT’, she had zero problem criticizing ADs. And while she criticizes the ADs with no AD experience I have yet to hear her criticize a college coach with no college coaching experience.
