Fans and people he says are 'fake insiders'. If you listen to Tyme, Trilly Donovan isn't anyone worth following. If you want to know IU basketball, listen just to Tyme (as he scrubs his page to remove references to Danny Wolf coming to IU and only mentions 'there are guys IU is after that you don't know about'). -

I like Hickman but if the demands are two fold about changing the offense and paying him a lot of money.....move on. We all would like the offense changed but if a recruit is demanding that PLUS lots of money and he isn't an all world player....might want to seek elsewhere. Hoping you're wrong cause I do want him, just not at that price. -

Correct NIT bracket projections had IU as about a 6 seed in the NIT, which would have meant not hosting. -
Huntley-Hatfield has cut his list to four teams: NC State, Pittsburgh, U Conn, and a return to Louisville. I guess I don't get the U Conn thing. Doesn't seem like a fit there. They seem to want a mobile lineup.

Yes. As was mentioned earlier, Hickman was supposed to visit IU over the weekend but he called it off because he was sick. I think it's a positive move by the staff to go to Bradley to visit him since the visit didn't work out. At least it's showing a recruit that the staff is very interested in him. -
Last comment.....they obviously didn't call the game like it was a normal game. Basically didn't call any travels, three seconds, etc. Basically the only calls that the refs were making were foul calls, and the foul calls were really just on shots. There was one play where Queen obviously pushed a player to get a rebound and they didn't call it.

Funny (and strange) play by Edgecomb. With about 4 seconds left and his team up one, he was at the line for the second of two free throws. He faked the free throw and one of his team mates went into the lane. I think he was trying to fake the other team into the lane, which really made no sense. First of all, it's a violation to fake a free throw. Secondly, there was no way his team mates knew he was going to do it.

Thoughts from just the single game -- Tucker: will probably need to put some muscle on but really played team basketball and didn't force anything. Fact that he didn't play travel ball means that this was likely the first time he was playing against most of the other burger boys. Flagg: #1 player in the nation struggled in the game. Seemed to sulk after he missed a few shots (will fit in at Duke). Queen: one of the few guys who really seemed interested in getting into position for rebounds. Hits the boards very well and played a nice game. That said, I'm not sure how well he would have fit in immediately at IU playing alongside Reneau and I'm not sure how well he'll fit in at Maryland playing alongside Reese. Flagg: also had a nice game. might overdribble a little but he's going to be a good one. Jackson: was the best player on the floor in the scrimmage. Harper: has that baby fat like his brother did. He drives well. Had a couple of shots not fall that he'll probably usually make. McNeely: Played pretty well. Didn't have many shots and the both threes he took were in the last minute of the game. The first was with 43 seconds left and his team down two -- it wedged between the rim and basket. The second was on a catch and shoot with 0.3 seconds left that won the game. Yeah, don't know if it was actually off in time or not but they kind of set it up to have a good ending (the East team fouled the West team (West was up by a point) with about 6 seconds left and they put the West on the line even though I think they weren't actually in the bonus). John Bol was the player that looked most out of place. Looked up his ranking and it made sense -- 47th ranked player by 247. Probably going to take some time to aclimate to the college game. Listed at 7'1", 190 pounds. Player that surprised me the most was Aiden Sherrill. 6'10" center who has committed to Alabama, ranked 22nd overall by 247. Has a nice outside touch and has the ability to put it on the floor and drive as well.

Just because I was that bored and that geeky.....kept stats as best I could for the McDonald's All-American game yesterday (it's posted on youtube now). FWIW, they had Bryson Tucker's coach on and he talked about how Bryson was a good student (3.7 high school GPA) and that he was a volunteer mentor for special needs students. Ummmm......then the stats you were posting were against NBA competition. VERY different. Not exactly a fair comparison. -

Nope. They are Jalen Blackmon's numbers. That's why context is so important (and FWIW, Curry's shooting numbers were better anyway). How about this player -- you want him on your team? FG% 44% (high volume). 3 PT FG%: 31.4% (high volume). FT%: 68.3%. A/TO ratio: about 1 to 1.....but it's 4.6 assists to 4.1 turnovers. -

This is why context is so important. Another player's career numbers: FG .418 on high volume 3Pt .362 on high volume FT% .907 A/TO 1 to 1 I'd say just on the sheer numbers the player I am showing is equal to the player you are showing. But more context is needed. Level of competition, size, trajectory of stats (has there been significant improvement? Any anamolies?). How well does the player play defense? Rebound? -

Need to know what level he put the numbers up at as well. Low, mid, or high major? HUGE difference. -

Assume he is headed to NC State. Visiting there now. Not sure of the timing, but did Reneau and Mgbako announce they were coming back before or after he said he was visiting? I am positive that MM said so afterwards, not sure about Reneau. Also, I am of the opinion that its a blessing in disguise. I can't imagine playing Reneau and Huntley together. Way too similar. -
Ohio State freshman wing Scotty Middleton into the portal. Was in Ohio State's rotation this year, averaging 15 minutes, 4.4 points, and 1.4 rebounds per game. 6'7". Was ranked 60th in the class of 2023. Shot well from three last year (but not inside the arc) -- 40% overall, 45% from three, making 28 of 62 threes.

One of the biggest items that is important is Galloway's shooting. He does some things very well -- he does a good job driving the ball, he distributes well -- but it wasn't a secret that his perimeter and free throw game hit a huge mental block this past season. I don't think he's the three point shooter he showed in 2022-23, but I also don't think he's as bad as he was last season. Combined, he has been 56 of 165 over the last two years -- 34%. I think he'll be around that mark next year. -

I meant to say that pace IS relevant to the discussion of # of three point shots taken -- the rest of my quote that follows that in my post talks about that. Iowa took more shots than any team in the Big Ten (63.4) yet was 12th in number of three point shots taken per game (18.9). -

Under McCaffery (and I'm even removing pace, just go with raw numbers) 2023-4: 296th in attempts, 258th in makes, 120th in percent 2022-3: 91st in attempts, 105th in makes, 186th in percent 2021-2: 51st in attempts, 29th in makes, 51st in percent 2020-1: 52nd in attempts, 17th in makes, 11th in percent 2019-20: 130th in attempts, 112th in makes, 103rd in percent 2018-19: 176th in attempts, 129th in makes, 76th in percent 2017-18: 234th in attempts, 171st in makes, 59th in percent 2016-17: 85th in attempts, 55th in makes, 55th in percent 2015-16: 116th in attempts, 70th in makes, 48th in percent 2014-15: 249th in attempts, 242nd in makes, 213th in percent 2013-14: 243rd in attempts, 216th in makes, 150th in percent 2012-13: 184th in attempts, 259th in makes, 305th in percent 2011-12: 277th in attempts, 212th in makes, 53rd in percent 2010-11: 297th in attempts, 312th in makes, 291st in percent So they've never been top 20 attempts in McCaffery's 14 years despite the fact that they play at an accelerated pace. They've only been top 20 in makes once (in fact, only top 50 two times) despite the fast pace -- it should be noted that while they were 17th in three point shots taken that year, they were 15th in total shots take. And in terms of three point percentage, they've been top 20 once in fifteen years. Perkins has played with Iowa for four years but his freshman year (2020-21) he played 146 minutes.....he was an end of the bench player then who registered 10 DNPs. So in the three years he's been a starter or part time starter (his sophomore year), Iowa has been 51, 91, and 296 in three point attempts and 29, 105, and 258 in makes. Iowa is not a three point shooting team that people make them out to be. Exactly 4 times in 15 years has Iowa been in the top 100 in three point makes despite pushing tempo. -

2022-23: 178th in three pointers per field goal attempt 2021-22: 135th in three pointers per field goal attempt 2020-21: 108th in three pointers per field goal attempt. Pace is irrelevant to the conversation -- a team that shoots 20 threes when each team has 70 possession doesn't have the three pointer as much of a factor as a team that takes 20 threes on 60 offensive possessions. Each individual three point shot has a bigger bearing on the outcome in a lower possession game than it does in a higher possession game. -

Jimerson will be a rare six year player. Broke his foot 10 games into his freshman year -- at the time he was averaging 10.8 points and shooting 43% from three despite coming off the bench. This past year shot 40% and 36%....of note, those numbers were the LOWEST of his career so the expectation is he will shoot better than than, even with a jump up in level. He's a 44/40/86 shooter for his career and is a bulk three point shooter -- over half his shots have been from three and in his 5 seasons has made 312 out of 789 threes. He's scored 1,825 points (in 132 games) at St. Louis, just 167 short of the all-time mark. -

You keep trying to sell Iowa as this three point Garden of Eden, but they flat out weren't. They were 332nd in three point field goals/two point field goal. 29.9% of their shots were from three; IU took 27.8% of their shots from three. That's basically one more three point attempt for Iowa if the teams were playing the same pace. You keep mentioning Sandfort and Dix but Dix only took 76 threes all year and the starting lineup also had Freeman and Krikke who were non-existent three point shooters. So it was one high volume perimeter shooter, one low volume perimeter shooter, two inside players who didn't shoot from the outside, and Perkins. -

Miller Kopp came in and started for two years. He wasn't a stud. When X went down last year, he didn't go with Leal or Gunn who had been there for 1 and 3 years, he started Cupps 22 games. -

He had a streak toward the end of the season where he was like 0 of 22 from three. Prior to that he was shooting 33% from three. Given that he hadn’t played for two years because of cancer, it’s probably reasonable to believe his struggle at the end of the year might have been him wearing down.
