in terms of Tony A’s analysis, Torvik does projections. Based on current roster projections, Rice would be projected to be at about the same offensive efficiency as last year while Carlyle would be about 6% higher. Of note, that’s overall efficiency and not particular to any specific statistic. Rice had a nice two point shooting percentage and assist to to ratio; would not be a shock if those dropped a little while his three point percentage climbs -
I like Fidler a lot. His final three included Wisky and Nebraska.

He visits Sunday. Think he arrives at the same time as Ballo. -

He also gets a lot of his points on put backs. He averaged 3.6 offensive rebounds at Arizona but only took a touch over 8 shots. -

Yes, but U Conn won for more than the reason that didn't throw it into the post as much as IU. One of the biggest offensive factors was that despite the fact that U Conn ran a VERY slow pace -- their tempo rate was 330th in the nation -- that they didn't turn the ball over much at all. And they were #4 in defense in the nation. If IU had the same defensive efficiency and as U Conn ran the same offensive efficiency, their overall efficiency would have been at about 23 in the nation -- or basically Kentucky. U Conn had soooo many offensive options that they didn't need to throw it in the post that much despite having a very good center. Hopefully IU can get to that point -

If you take a look at the first post in this thread, @Class of '66 Old Farthas posted the full names of everyone IU has contacted. -

Carlyle and Rice and are typical rebounders for guards. Conwell is a + rebounding guard who would still be a pretty good rebounding 3. But I honestly still don't see getting all 3. -
Aly Khalifa, BYU in the portal with a do not contact tag, so assume he knows where he is going. Could be Kentucky to follow his coach. Not a great player but has one of the most unique stat lines in college basketball. He's a 6'11, 270 pound center. Played two years at Charlotte before transferring to BYU. Last seaon started 26 games for BYU, averaging 19.4 minutes, 5..7 points, 3.7 rebounds....and now the strange part.....4.0 assists 6'11" center who had more assists than rebounds and almost as many assists as points. Bulk three point shooter, close to half his shots in college have been threes and he's made 35%

Yes. You don't bring in the #1 or 2 guy in the portal for the reason of having him and your returning leading scorer splitting 40 minutes. -

I'm not sure how you can get Payne and Ballo on the floor at the same time, though. Reneau can at least shoot from the perimeter some, but Payne and Ballo are interior threats only. So if MR is playing 30 minutes and Ballo and Payne had 25 minutes each, that's 10 minutes with Ballo and Payne on the floor together. And that doesn't even account for occasional time where MM switches to the 4 with 3 guards/wings in. -

Throw Tucker in there and that is a top 7 of Rice, Carlyle, Galloway, Tucker, Mgbako, Reneau, Ballo. It's strange that a McD's boy is kind of getting forgotten in all of this, but I expect he is going to get quality time. -
Gibson Jimerson withdraws from the portal and will head back to St. Louis. IU had contacted him earlier. Rhylan Griffen from Alabama into the portal. He's a good one. 6'6" sophomore forward. Averaged 11.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists. 74 of 189 from three (39%).

J.P Pegues officially has committed to Auburn (which we assumed he would), clearing away what was supposed to be our main competition for Rice. Have to assume this one is in the books. -
And sounds like quite a bit of NIL money from last season was going to players that will be elsewhere this year.

Gotcha. My guess is that if Rice and Carlyle are already in the fold, that would likely be told to Hickman if IU's preference is to have both Rice and Carlyle instead or Rice and Hickman. Sure, I'd like to have all three but think that if you are getting two have to know the priorities of which two. -

Any thoughts that if Rice commits and wants to play with Carlyle, that Carlyle could commit before visiting? -

But it should be mentioned that Rice and Carlyle are both better known quantities after their freshman year than Conwell was. They have less to prove than Conwell did after playing at South Florida. -

They shot 78 and 81% from the line last year, so that's a positive. Ballo, though, is a horrible free throw shooter. He would counted on for other things. -

Not to be that guy, but if Rice and Carlyle WERE to commit to IU, could see Cupps enter the portal. Would make sense for him to considering Rice and Carlyle each have the potential of being at IU for three more years + Galloway coming back this year. -

FWIW, check Conwell's freshman stats v Carlyle's. While not everyone makes that kind of kind jump from freshman to sophomore year, its worth mentioning that there are some pretty big jumps when a player is talented. I also doubt that Conwell's jump would have been quite as big if he went to a P5 conference. -

Rice and Carlyle are combo guards. Rice is more of a 1 and Carlyle is more of a 2, but they can both play either. Conwell is more of a two. -

Likely Rice recruiting Carlyle to come with him to Indiana if it is in reference to Indiana. Rice would like to play with Carlyle. -

Yeah, think there is some greediness going around right now. But that is a good thing. I can't see any way that three highly ranked portal guards would ever commit to the same school where there is one 30+ minute guy coming back and a 5 star incoming freshman wing plus the returning starter at the 3 is coming back. If there are three highly ranked guards, you take the first two willing to commit.
