Me too. Always wanted IU, PU, ND, Butler... and UK, Ville, Cinci, and perhaps TN. But ND and Ville being both ACC screws it up. Maybe a yearly 3 game classic. IU and PU every year, then let ND and Butler rotate each year.
-
Yup, McGuire had a very nice run.
-
Yup. PU would be smart to do the same (with the same teams).
-
I was born in 70s. My extended (very large) family were big BB and FB fans, all loved IU BB, all loved ND FB. Always cheered for both schools (all sports). Always loved UCLA and ND games too. But that rivalry lost steam after 70s. ND was respectable until Digger left. UCLA dropped a bit early 80s. But since I can remember, Duke/UNC and IU/KY were huge in 70s and 80s. Lot of fun misc rivalries popping up those years. Loved watching teams like NCSt, Vil, Georg, etc

It's a sin not to play them yearly. I don't care where. Rupp/Neutral/Bloom/Neutral, etc. is is just fine. Should do with same Louisville too. Back in the day... it was Duke/UNC and IU/UK.. always two biggest games of the year.

Fudge Meatchicken... -
Woody is energetic, and looks younger his age. Doubt we hear any retirement talk anytime soon. And so long the team is good, I expect him coach a while. Just keep the check book open for assistants. If we are good this year, our assistants will be poached.
-
Interesting. Heard he was opinionated, but not political. Not a big twitter guy, but have one, and have followed him years. Don't recall any politics at all. Heard he's old style. Not nanny state. Can't see him surviving in MSU for so long if political. Regardless, no big deal. I'm totally 110% on the Woody bus.

Yup. But IMO, the best situation would be PAC+B12.
-
PAC would be foolish, to say no.... Sources: ACC administrators had informal discussions about possible Pac-12, Big 12 additions or merger https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34651932/sources-acc-administrators-had-informal-discussions-possible-pac-12-big-12-additions-merger

While his NBA HC career may not be eye popping good, he's still coached in the NBA for 25 years, which is a feat in and of itself. And he still has the best Knicks one season record looking back 20 years. He inherited an awful situation in ATL. Not really worried about it. He seems to have plenty of energy. And his passion for IU makes up for any age related concerns.
-
I don't really idolize any coach unless they're perhaps HoF types and long in the teeth. If they bring deep runs, or NCs, I will however put them on a pedestal. But I'd say coaches are part of a clear profession. And professionals make money. There is no fuzziness around them being a student-coach lol, or amateur. Conversely though.... Right now, we're paying kids a ton of money, yet still calling them student athletes with amateur status still in check. And I always wanted kids to get a bit more than just tuition. I thought living expenses was a no brainer, and thought there should be some type of deferred fund so that they'd make some off of jersey sales, etc.. That all seemed sensible to me... But now we've jumped the shark and turned the volume straight up to 11. Now boosters are pouring millions into NIL, not so kids can really earn it off the court, but simply to be the school that offers the most.
-
Yup. And... Some earn it, and also bring the $$. And still don't get the recognition. Knight raised 5+M for the IU library, donated plenty of his own personal $, and endowed 2 chairs (law and history). IU didn't do much to recognize him. He went to TXTech, donated to their library, far less than what he did at IU, and got recognized more lol.
-
Not a fan. They should put Branch McCracken on the court itself, since it's actually called the Branch McCracken Court lol... Happy and all she gave 40M for the renovation... But I'd have preferred they simply built a new arena. After all the commercialization, never felt the same anyway.

2022/23 Minutes Per Game Predictions

I need more coffee before I take a swing at this. Love the discussion. -
Yup. In pro-sports, I liken them to first world problems. Players demanding new contracts with multiple years left, etc., make me want to puke. Not that I'm siding with owners or anything, I just find the whole thing detached from reality. Money coming to colleges is what it is. The cow (cash cow) is not going back into the barn though lol. I'd say at minimum, if they're going to make 100+K a year, then they should be required to pay their own tuition lol. Not that's some legislation I could get behind. But it's not just sports that turn me off when it comes to colleges/universities. The whole thing seems to have become pretty gross. I have/had family that worked at PU (prof), as well as IU and ND. Things simply have really changed. I have all kinds of younger cousins and 2nd cousins in HS and college now. Heard way too many things that make me cringe lol. Last time I saw, only about a 1/3 of kids that go to college, graduate in 4 years. And of that, only about 40% actually use the degrees they got.

The roster really has a different feel doesn't it lol. Just hope the Gs take a nice step forward this year.
