As far as facts are concerned around the whole drug situation, we have info from Gordon about some guys doing drugs. He also said Sampson tried to stop it. What other facts are out there? If that's it, IMO, opinions on that topic are far to strong as there are very few facts, and what first hand info we have seems to cancel out. I bring DD into the conversation because of the strong opinions that have always existed about Sampson on the topic, yet nobody ever connects DD (who didn't do anything either). I get it that nobody wants DD to be coach, I just find it hypocritical that many point to Sampson but not DD, who would have also been complicit.

Didn't say I wanted him. Boiling it down, I've pretty much said 3 things. 1) I wish he didn't screw up while here, 2) there are a lot strong opinions based on rumor that ignores fact, and 3) DD was present during it all and really didn't do anything different (and nobody trashes him for it).
-
Welp, either he's learned his lesson and changed, or he's been luckier getting the right kids. The AAC and him seem to be getting along. He's won the conference, and been CotY twice in the past couple years.

Look at the the history of the conversation. It started with Sampson, and someone pointing out that Sampson was responsible for X or Y. My response and bringing DD into it is pointing out the hypocrisy in blaming Sampson for that specific topic, while nobody blamed DD. If you don't like the conversation or tangent, you don't have to read or follow it.

Nobody is saying anyone is advocating for DD. Point is, nobody trashed DD. And on the topic of drug situation, it's all speculation what Sampson knew or didn't know, and one of the players that we know wasn't caught up in it, said Sampson did try to deal with things. Anyway, I don't fault him for that. I fault him for breaking the rules, which is not speculation.

What he knew, or could prove, is all in question. And what exactly did DD do along those same lines? I don't recall him benching or dismissing anyone once he took over for Sampson. Bassett and Ellis were the first to go, but that was after the season. So in other words, if you fault Sampson for not having a heavier hand, DD didn't either. I've also always wondered why there were no positive drug tests if it was such an issue.
-
I'm aware of the rumors. Keep in mind that 1) Gordon said Sampson tried to stop the drug use, and 2) DD was there beginning of Nov so would have been aware of the issues going on too.

I agree it was a huge bad..... even if the infraction itself is pretty lax by today's standards. And yes, we use the terms differently. All in all, I wish he hadn't done what he did, as I think we'd be in a very good position right now. He served his 5 year sentence, and is now having great success. We've been throw 2 coaches, and still struggling. IMO, though, the program was already "set back", so I don't really blame him for much. Yes we had high turnover after it, but a lot of teams have huge turnover every year, and simply reload.

Nice step forward tonight. Great second half. On to the next "must win" on Saturday vs the Fartans.

Yup, I have the same concerns. If we're ever out of the playoff picture though... He's had some big moments, more than big games. IMO, it's a bit of a function of our scheme. But I agree overall. -

My biggest hope, or hopes.... Hit FTs and feed TJD. He could have a career, or near career high tonight if they work the ball well.
