  1. Probably, but the discussion was stemming from comments about Durr and TJD playing at the same time. If they both are on the floor, doubt Durr will be the 4. Also comments on the topic of TJD's translation to the NBA, which likely won't happen so long as he's playing solely a 5.
  2. Yup. From the reports I read about TJD's return, is that he wants to work on those things. You have to think that was a selling point from Woodson. If he's going to play the same way and the same position as he did last year, not sure the benefit of him returning. He's not going to translate to the NBA as a 5 like he played last year. It'll be interesting that's for sure.
  3. Not sure I would really call a 41 O a two post offense. I'm no expert on the 41, but I've read a decent amount on it. Here's a basic article on the scheme if you're interested. https://www.basketballforcoaches.com/4-out-1-in-offense/
  4. Sounds like very balanced due to mediocrity lol. Not sure if that's good or bad. If they didn't shoot many 3s, that would lead me to believe teams could crowd low, making it harder on Durr. And the low scoring average of their players tells me no one drew attention. Overall, even more mystery lol. I got a giggle on the "slow, but faster than we were" comment lol. Yup, for sure we'll see different lineups. My gut tells me we might see TJD play a decent amount of off-4 if Durr has some power-move in him. Many versions of the 41 for the 5, but I can see a situation where we use Durr as a simplified non-ball side, or ball-side 5, and have TJD causing havoc on the other side. Again, that assumes Durr can develop a power move presence. I think I need to watch more tape on Durr.
  5. From a pure player development perspective, you'd want TJD developing range more than Durr, if I understand Woodson's system correctly. In the 41, there are lots of options for the 5 or "in". And TJD really wouldn't be a true post guy in a situation where Durr was the 5. To add, yes we've seen it, but it's been in an Archie system.
  6. Anyone familiar with USF's system?

    College Bball Thread

He was actually a pretty intelligent kid too. IIRC, was an all academic at PU. I guess getting caught with several pounds of weed isn't all that smart though. I'm guessing he blew the 5ish million already... Definitely sad.
  8. At minimum, fills the need for minutes against some of the Big10 bigs. Sounds like he plays strong. I have zero clue about USF's offensive system, but sounds like he can rebound and hit FTs. If he can develop a few power moves to the basket, perhaps we see him and TJD on the floor at the same time occasionally. I think I like his style better than Brunks.

    21-22 Men’s IUBB Schedule

Not having UK on the schedule is just non-Hoosier... Bring it back.

    2021 Minutes Per Game

I'm still going with XJ as being our primary wing + 2nd ball handler on the court. If that holds true, I think we'll see Phin and Lander rotate a ton at 1, and each will play more or less depending on opponent / game plan. I think he'll be a no brainer against teams with a talented 1 as scorer.

    NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

Looks like he was pretty decent year 1 (frosh expectations anyway), but then faded. If we are just looking for a big to spell TJD at the 5 until Duncomb matures, then he doesn't look like a bad use of a 13th schollie for one year.

originally a 3 star big that went to UNC. was developing but got injured and missed 19-20 season. not completely sure of his story, but surprised at his low initial ranking since he went to UNC. likely surrounded by a lot of competition, and just missed his shot after getting injured.

    2021 Minutes Per Game

Great topic. Almost made a poll on the topic, but chose to go with position/starters. I'm just so torn on several elements... Going to go with TJD - easy. What might make this an interesting (not minute) conversation is if we bring in a 5 to replace the spot Hunter left open. TJD will be featured and be on the court as much as possible. XJ - only question to me is will he be featured at PG or Wing. Might even get as many as TJD. I personally think (my opinion is evolving) he will be a primary wing (I think you do to based on your starter tags). If Phin or Lander steps up, I think Woodson will prize having 2 ball handlers on the court, and he'll stay at the 2. Torn on his position, but not on minutes. Stewart - This might be different if Bates comes in and kills it, but I think Stewart will be the guy early that is solidly in the middle of starters. You could make a case for Kopp here too. Kopp - I think he and Race will both be flex guys. Kopp will be the 3-4 guy and probably get a ton of minutes, even if he isn't starting. Race - He'll bounce from starting 4, but also backup 5 unless we grab a guy to fill Hunter's spot that can play 5. If he develops a shot, he could play even in the 3 range vs some teams, but that's wishful. 6th and 7th.... Phin/Lander - I think they'll split a lot. Phin for D, Lander for O 8th and 9th, but I think Bates and Geronimo will battle it out here. I know that's only 9... My darkhorses... Leal - if he can be the sniper, a ton more minutes. Duncomb - If he can prove himself at 5, might change the dynamics of the team late in the year. I would absolutely love seeing TJD at 4. Boss.

(2018) SF - Jerome Hunter Transfers To Xavier

I hate when anyone leaves, but I'm just not bothered much by this. I love the moves by Woodson thus far, and going to trust he'll balance the sheet with as good or better incoming option that wants to be here. Wish him well.

    Big Ten Arena Poll

Before I went to IU, and before my dad got season tix a few years in my teens, we used to get tix from time to time from family and friends. I remember my first game. Must have been 10-12.. I was so pumped. Seats were horrible, and could barely see the game. Never accepted those seats again lol. Dad got the hookup with better tix next season. I think we should have a PU engineer and an IU music prof sit down and design a new arena that has great views, but loud as hell acoustics lol.

    NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

He's not really a fan of Crean at all. He's just a lifelong disappointed UGA fan... And they've had plenty of issues... Whenever I get down on IU, I talk to one of my UGA buds and I feel better.

    NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

It's going to be interesting. I know he did land a pretty good portal transfer. A buddy of mine who is an old school UGA fan, has said the last two years that UGA need a good purging. I think he actually said it when they hired Crean. Well, maybe now he'll be happy lol. It's really interesting at minimum. I've become more curious about their situation. I've heard buzz from folks and they're all over the place. Maybe I'll dig in and look at the numbers. Nah...

    NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

Not saying Crean should have said any of that, but KDJ was a mess up. He had eligibility issues coming in (IIRC went to Hargrave to improve his chances), and missed 10 games last season due to grades. A lot of rumors about behavior as well. Overall, UGA isn't as bad as some SEC programs, but they have a decent history of program challenges. The article I read in the local paper made it sound like there were still a ton of kids on the roster even with so many leaving. Big classes, a lot of Jucos and portal transfers are inbound too. In short, sounded like a roster crunch.

    Big Ten Arena Poll

52% now. I love the nostalgia of AH, but would love a nice new state of the art arena so long as it was as loud as AH. The remodel and addition of Cook Hall I guess checked some boxes. Would have loved to see them do something like Bankers.
  20. Saw some discussion last week, so thought a poll might be fun. I know some will disagree with some guys in some stacks or multiple stacks, but wanted to over-include options instead of some saying "well, that guy could possibly be a XXX" And I know we'll likely have different lineups vs certain teams, but just keep it simple lol...
  21. To the 3 above, PG - I could see a case for all 3. Phin when we need D vs certain teams. Lander at times when 1 on D on the other team. XJ when we just need handle+offense from the point. My big questions.... XJ - Point or Wing, and does Woodson want a second ball handler on the floor. Kopp - big wing vs weak but good shooting 4. I think he'll flex both ways depending on the opponent. Bates - is he ready now to make the jump. Total wildcard to me. Stewart - I think the answers to the above 3 factor a lot on Stewart At this point, still thinking Lander / XJ / Stewart / Kopp / TJD having the most minutes. I think Race and Bates battle for 6th man minutes, with Race being the 4-5 flex guy.
  22. I'm pretty torn on several areas. At point, I really wonder if if Woodson will prioritize driving and ball handling over shooting. I can really envision any of the 3 starting at point. My gut though says Lander will get the start because A) they want Johnson playing as a drive/shooting capable wing that can be a second ball handler on the floor at the same time as the primary PG, and B) I think Lander might be the best combo option for handle/drive/dish, and more or less be a hyper active engine. We all know TJD will be 5. So that gives me 1, 2, and 5..... 3 and 4 are hard for me. I'm not sure what Woodson wants at 4 yet, and can see Kopp or Thompson there. I can see Kopp at 3 or 4 lol... I think I like the idea of TJD/Kopp/Thompson as being more or less the rotation at 4 and 5, with Thompson bouncing back and forth. So that leaves me with 3. Now I don't know if Parker holds off Bates lol... All in all, such a better feeling about depth and possibility than last season.
  23. I went with the most frequent one Lander - Johnson - Stewart - Kopp - TJD Phin, Bates, Thompson, and Thompson again as depth. Basically TJD/Kopp/Thompson as a 3 man rotation at 4 and 5. The one I like also is Johnson - Stewart - Bates - Kopp - TJD Might be the best scoring line up

    Strictly Hypothetical

Too many possibilities right now, but I could see several things. 1/Point: Phin OR Lander OR Johnson 2-3 Wings: Johnson AND/OR Stewart AND/OR Bates, then Galloway/Leal 4/PF: Thompson OR Kopp then Hunter/Geronimo 5. TJD Then Duncomb/Thompson
