  1. Poor comp, but solid game. Can't complain too much when you double up your opponent. FT shooting still bothers me lol... Come on Geronimo lol... X had a nice game along with TJD, Parker, and Bates. So excited about Bates.
  2. Yup. Thought I recalled it being a rough take off to the season. At this point, it's just hard to find too much stuff to complain about given the context. Not saying we're going to be elite, but definitely "feels" a lot better than the Archie years so far. And loved the 3pt and FT improvement from last game.
  3. Hoping Sales from Brownsburg steps up (think he'll be a good one). Carpenter needs to be the answer if needed at C too. Not sure where McCollough ends up, but if he can put on 20lbs of good weight by next September, he could see early time at Edge. Kid should be special. Still can't believe he flipped from OSU. But yes, OL and DL need upgrades. But I think the biggest bang for the buck would just be a quick hitting and accurate dual threat QB.
  4. uh... Archi sheite the bed his first year IIRC. Didn't we get blown out the first game of his first season by Indiana State in his debut. And then got blown out again the next week by Seton Hall. Regardless, you're coming off as overly negative. First year, new scheme, 3 of 5 new starters, 4 of 6 highest minute players are new guys. Heck, the starting lineup isn't even figured out yet. Sure, Woody hasn't fixed the bad FT% yet, but there's a lot of other positives.
  5. Need to hit the transfer portal hard. Especially at QB.

Going to be interesting to see how they do stepping up into the SEC in a few years lol.. Very interested to see how the coaching situation plays out the next year.

Truly embarrassment level type of loss, and at home. I feel better about losing today now lol... At least we don't have "Texas"-sized expectations.
  8. I'm just so happy it's basketball season too.. lol

    IUBB vs Northern Illinois - 11/12/21 @ 7:00 on BTN+

Improvement, and that's all I care about right now. Nice jump in FT and 3P %s. Love TJD, Race, and X. We can win a lot of games with those 3 guys as the backbone. Need to find the other 2. So far not sold on anyone specific. Kopp hasn't impressed me at all in 2 games. 2 of 9 and 0 for 4 from long. He is at least 3 of 3 on FTs. Stewart took step back. Hoping it was just a down game. Liked Leal in the few minutes he got. Still not sure what to think about Lander and Phin. Thought I'd see at least one take a nice step forward. Geronimo and Galloway looked pretty good. Can wait to watch the St John's game. Great early test. Top 50 KP, and getting AP votes. Wonder if the line up changes a bit, or if minutes shrink for some this game. Guessing a win would likely be enough to get us into the top 25.
  10. I do expect improvement, at least little by little. Game 10 my expectations will start to fill in. Right now though, gotta give them at least 5 games to start to gel and play together. It'll take Woody at least that to find the right rotation.
  11. It's game 1 in a new scheme. I'm no fan of "ifs" either, but isn't it a bit early to be casting the "if" and "last 4 years" doubt narratives. Some guys are brand new. 3 of our 5 starters didn't play a minute for IU last year. 1 of our 4 subs didn't either. The guys that did play are adjusting to a very different scheme, and learning to play with a bunch of new guys. Not suggesting we're going to be great this year. But I'm not going push the doubt button till well into the regular season. Gotta give just a little time for guys to gel, and for Woody to find the right rotation.

    Worst IU wins

But... Natural Light, Milwaukee's best, Bud Light Chelada... All horrible. But I drank plenty of the first two in my HS days.... Still bad though... A "bad win" might taste bad, but it'll get you there lol... I'd enjoy a bad win a lot more than a Natural Light if I'm honest.

    Worst IU wins

For whatever reason, I'm not near as harsh on BB as I am FB, on the topic of bad wins. I expect more blips in BB due to small team size, and just the fact guys have off nights. And there's more games. And I'm far less critical on close wins early in the season.

    Worst IU wins

Mar 18, 1988 I was in Daytona on Spring Break, playing drunk shuffleboard, and super hype for IU to kill the Spiders later in the day. IU chants by the pool and on the beach leading up to game time... Didn't work out that way. Total let down year and can't believe it ended that way. Great week outside of that. Not a win... there are no bad wins. But the worse game...
  15. Happy with the W A lot of guys played, and I expected a rough first look. Didn't expect it to be so close. Game 1, so not going to ***** too much, or over analyze. Only thing I'll say.... 3pt and FT shooting was stanky poo poo

we're 29th and spend 859K per the report that 247 used. here's the source https://www.athleticdirectoru.com/articles/an-analysis-of-football-recruiting-costs/ IMO, the overall spend is a drop in the bucket for most top teams as boosters likely foot most of the bill. The article talks about the value of "loaned" transportation counting lol.... Not sure but I think teams are only allowed to pay for a limited number of visits per year, so I'm sure many schools would love to spend more if they could.
  17. I think we all would prefer winning over geography lol. If we won a NC with 5 studs from North Dakota, I wouldn't care. But...... if IN has some top 25 kids, I want them. And I want us to be winning, and good enough that those in state studs will want to come. A NC with 5 North Dakota kids would be awesome. But winning it with a few IN kids, a new level of awesome.
  18. It was a late game. Not saying that excuses behavior, but the later the game, the more drinking. Noonish games are always pretty mild. Mid afternoon a little wilder. Night games are always a bit out there in terms of behavior. Doesn't really matter what team or stadium.
  19. Woodson has started off a ton better IMO. Archie's first year wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't say it was good. 1 top 100 guy isn't exactly stellar. Agreed that Woodson needs to follow it up with winning. But I think he will. Yup, yup, and more yup. Yup, but in state school that brings in a lot of out of state talent. Very nice fishing hole in the middle of the corn field. I'm with you on #1. And I think they tried to force fit kids into their systems instead of trying to utilize strengths.
  20. I've got 2 TVs running with IU and ND... Switching the IU tv to UT/Bama.... Can't take anymore lol..
  21. Getting 2-3 TJDs (he was top 30 player) every cycle just isn't reality for all but a handful of teams. UK, Duke, UNC, maybe Memphis... That's about it these days. Archie was never going to do that. System was a big issue IMO. And Archie just wasn't fun or inspiring. I don't think it's very nebulous at all. To me it's always meant you take what you want. Not that you have to populate your roster with a bunch of IN kids. If there's a top 20ish kind of guy, you win that fight. And you never lose to a recruiting battle to PU or ND...
  22. Honestly if we perform better, I'm not afraid of OSU/MSU/UM or any other team poaching. If we can just start winning again, and owning PU and ND, IU will become "cool" again for in state kids. The last several years, we've been very very not cool..... I agree on Fears. I think in general, we need to hit La Lumiere hard. Not that they're exactly Indiana kids, but lots of talent. I'd take Booker from Cathedral too. For me, I don't care what the record is so long as we make the dance, beat ND 12-18, and PU on 01-20... We don't have to go far in the dance, just make it, and stop PU from beating us 10 times in a row. And I think it's very possible that we're between 15-3 and 18-0, and ranked when we play PU....
  23. I think he had enough talent to win more games than he did, so really don't think recruiting was his biggest problem.
  24. I just don't think Archie was good outside of IN... I still think it's possible to lock down the state. We just have to return to glory. Beat PU and ND for a few straight years, and start going to Sweet 16s, and the IN kids will think corn is cool again.
