stuff is coming in hot lol... a lot of conflicting stuff too Finebaum said ND is a must get for the ACC, B10, and SEC. Said the ACC collapses with ND. Expects ND is getting bids for all 3 lol. His sidekick said Swarbuck said (last year) that for ND to join a conference, it would take at least one of three conditions. The need to secure a playoff path. The need to secure a TV partner. Or not joining would be a significant financial loss.

I used to be a 60-70% travel guy (domestic and intl). The flight duration itself didn't really bother me. On quick trips (WC), so long as I kept my home TZ sleep schedule, I was more than fine. If I was out there for a week, I'd bite the bullet, stay up super late, and hope on PST. A little sleepy the next day, but I wouldn't call it fatigue. Not a frequent user of 5 hour energy, but it works very well when I do need it. Always carry a few when heading to the WC or across the pond. I'm assuming the games will mostly be noonish PST / 3-4 PMish EST. Get out there the day before, hit the pillow early, play, and can leave that night or early the next day.

I get it, you don't like the style. But here's how the finals have gone since 2000.... B10 PAC Champ 2 0 Runner up 7 2 I mean, feel free to look at however you want. But if we're talking top teams, the B10 has gone deeper more often. And honestly I don't care for the B10 style of play... But I'm certainly not going to try and replicate what the PAC does. If I'm going to change things, I'll look at the ACC, B12, and BE for best practices.
-
The B10 has not won, but they've been frequently in the championship game over the last 20 years. I can't recall the last time a PAC has been in a championship game. And point is, doubt the B10 is changing style because of USC and UCLA. Both sides will adjust based on outcome, but guessing UCLA and USC will be doing most of the early adjustments. Both have been decent lately in BB, but AZ and Oregon have been the top 2 teams out there for the last 10 years.
-
I don't think the PAC has one a natty in 25 years. So I'm guessing it's the clobbering route.

Amateurism and student/athlete have been dead for a while now. I hate it as well. With super conferences and NIL, it's just more visible today. But the iceberg has been there for a while. I'm waiting for the HS kids at IMG, and other academies to start asking for NIL... only halfway kidding....

Yup. They screwed themselves. They (ACC/PAC) also screwed themselves by not making any moves. Both conferences should have been talking to each other along with the B12 on how to carve up things and create a conf, or firm agreement, to compete with the B10 and SEC. I think it's likely to still happen though, but they'll end up with less pickins now. Buzz about the B12 already making some moves, likely on the phone with the PAC. ACC better not stand still too long, and they need to be giving ND the reach around lol.

I'm guessing all of the teams (FSU, Miami, Clemson) would prefer the B10 over SEC.
-
Looks like ND is pull, unlike UCLA and USC who were the instigators. Just not sure ND can forget about the bad blood/history. But yes, need the purple teams lol (ND, FSU, Clemson). In general, need the South and a team from TX. Both for market, and recruiting. Assuming we're going to end up with 20 (4 more) when all is said and done, I'd be really happy with ND, FSU (or Miami), OR, and Baylor. I honestly don't care too much about OR, but since we have USC and UCLA now, it helps with their travel schedule. I'd be happy with Clemson too, and there's a lot of buzz that Clemson would be better off in the B10 than SEC. They'd be a jewel for the B10, but kinda bland in the SEC.
-
The B10 simply couldn't afford to do nothing after the TX/OK acquisition by the SEC. Too much TV money at stake. The SEC owned half the top 20. The B10, only a quarter. ND would certainly help even things out, but just not sure ND can get past the bad blood/history. Here's the top 20 after the 2020 season in TV viewership. Ohio State (5.19M) Alabama (5.09M) Michigan (4.18M) Notre Dame (3.61M) LSU (3.22M) Auburn (3.12M) Georgia (2.91M) Oklahoma (2.90M) Clemson (2.67M) Penn State (2.55M) Florida (2.46M) Wisconsin (2.27M) Texas (2.269M) Florida State (2.23M) Michigan State (2.20M) Southern Cal (1.98M) Texas A&M (1.851M) Tennessee (1.849M) Oklahoma State (1.64M) Mississippi (1.61M)

And got a kick out of this one... I hate Michigan.

4th and 8th last season for IU , then no B10 games till Jan2 The first B10 conf games were on the 3rd. I'd love it if they dropped one of the games in after the 17th (KS game). But we'll likely see one between UNC 11/30 and AZ 12/10, and one between AZ and KS (12/17).... Sigh lol And here's to hoping one or both early B10 games include Nebraska, MN, and/or NW.

The Stanford and Cal area has nice market size, but their fan interest is low. Next time Stanford football is on TV, take a look at the stands. Cal is even worse. I have a few friends in the Bay area. One said there's more USC and UCLA fans there than Stanford fans lol. Regarding FSU and Miami. I just can't see all 3 big FL FB teams in the SEC. But I wouldn't be shocked.

Doubt AAU is prerequisite. I mean it's nice and all, but not having it doesn't mean you're bad. If you're a fan of rankings, US News and a few others rank universities. BC is ranked ahead of most B10 schools, and is not AAU. Miami and FSU are both ranked better than several AAU B10 schools. AZ, while an AAU school, is near 100ish. UNC is AAU, but isn't ranked all that well, and has fake classes lol. Baylor is ranked ahead of MSU, Maryland, AZ, Kansas, Rutgers, Nebraska, Overall, I think some universities might get disqualified for poor academics, but for the most part, I think it's simply more of a $$ conversation now. I hope it's not Stanford. Totally lame fans, and both BB and FB are declining. I'd be happy with OR, WA, or one of the AZ schools. My preference though, is grabbing a top ACC school or two, or a team from TX. Given USC and UCLA instigated this whole thing, not sure they cared too much about the travel to begin with. Just to level set, LA to Seattle is almost a 3 hour flight. LA to Indy (in the middle of current B10 schools) is a little over 4 hours. The time zone shift will need the game times to adjust, but the flight times are nt exactly big deltas unless you're talking about Rutgers and Maryland.

Obviously, geography doesn't matter anymore..... If the B10 is still shopping, their top targets should be.... ND - see below Miami - need to get the FL market, and southern teams in general before the SEC expands more. North Carolina Baylor (TX market) Oregon (more W Coast) FSU Clemson Boston College (Boston market) AZ or ASU Houston Forget about Stanford. Their fans stink. FB and BB are both down. Only benefit really is academic scores. If talking about "market" value, ND is a national market. They are consistently a top 5 nationally watched team. Bama, LSU, OhioSt, and Meatchicken are the other 4. But in terms of ND, you're not going after them for their MW or local market. To add, Fox and ESPN co-own the B10 media rights, but that expires in 2023. NBC, who owns the ND contract through 2025, is known to be making an aggressive push for the B10 rights. That could push ND to either join the B10, or dump NBC lol. Regardless, of the most watched CFB teams, ND is the loan crown jewel not affiliated with either the SEC or B10. Given they're attractive in both viewership and academics, and solid in both major sports, might end up in a nice bidding war between the SEC and B10. Of they could be hard headed and remain independent, choosing to form their own conference with other academic or religious institutes that also happen to be good in sports. BYU, Stanford, Liberty, SMU, TCU, etc., and perhaps the military teams.

Thank you. Didn't get a chance to listen last night, but going to get it done tonight or this weekend.

Poll: IU's preseason outcome (of the 4 big games)
Southside replied to Southside's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I personally think we'll have a good chance to win, but I think it'll be more about their week leading up to our game, than AH. AH certainly helps though. -

A little surprised at the results for the UNC game... -
I expected this, but not this soon. Not specifically USC and UCLA, but some type of migration or merge. Guess things are just moving at lightning speed. Easy decision though for the B10 given the Cali market. PS.... can we just not skip to 4 super conferences and get it out of the way... And damn, really wanted the girls beach vball...

Honestly not sure what makes sense. His entire history is pretty mind bending. Not trying to bag on him, and wish him well, it's just his path has been all over the place. Given he's from MI (I think?), any of the MI teams would make sense I guess. MAC though... huh.

That might be a good thing lol... Hoping Geronimo cuts into Kopp's minutes at minimum.

Thanks. Gonna give it a listen tomorrow after some coffee lol. and... I like Banks too. He's from the dirty south not too far from me. Averaged a double double. I believe 20+ and 10. He'll need some time to improve his handle on O IIRC, but he should be able to defend 2-4 perhaps early on. If he can just be an effective shooter early, I like his chances of early PT are higher than folks think.

Any silver bullets or big items?
