Funny thing is when the missed call at second in game one was reversed they were all "good sports" and were just happy the right call was made. When the right call was made in game three and it went against them they act like whiny babies and cry about it. Lost all respect for Bosox after seeing the post-game comments from them.

Well, he had already made it to third so Boston fan is wrong there. Being inside the base line is irrelevant. Also you aren't automatically awarded the base on that play. The home plate ump has that option based upon whether he thought the runner would have been safe without the obstruction. It was a close play so the ump called him safe. They gave an example of a few years ago Tejada (I assume Miguel, not sure, they just said Tejada) turned around and stopped to tell the ump it was obstruction and never continued the play. They called him out. In summary, your Boston fan doesn't have a clue what he's talking about! lol

Jim Joyce (the ump at third) said in the post game that the legs in the air didn't come that much into the equation. Middlebrooks obstructed and he called it immediately. As you said, intent had nothing to do with it. They had 3 umps and Joe Torre all emphatic that it was the right call.

these guys need some work but LOTS of potential out there. I can see them being pretty good by mid-season

they often looked like freshmen in their first game. tons of athleticism. poor shooting percentage. still leading though
