The fact we weren't good that year falls completely on coaching. That team should have been able to win. Yogi, Sheehey, Vonleh, Williams, Stan, Hollowell, Etherington, Gordon and Hanner. The "we didn't have shooters" is not an excuse. Plenty of teams get away with it yearly. It's the fact that Crean and company can't adjust to personnel.

it's isn't the 70's or 80's anymore. It is 2015. It is time to get away from the thinking of back then. Indiana needs to go after the absolute best of the best in the country. Go after multiple Top 10 and Top 20 players. Getting 1 and 2 and dones. To compete on the floor you have to compete on the recruiting trail. We haven't done that successfully. Fans have to understand what era we're in. You want to compete for Nat'l titles or just Top 25 and Top 7 in the conference?

I'm just thinking about how UNC might be starting Marcus Paige, Theo Pinson, Justin Jackson, Brick Johnson and Kennedy Meeks. Good size that will dominate the boards. A team I pray for IU not to play.

Too be honest I really hope Hollowell had the success Ryan Harrow did while there. It would be great to see one of our transfer have a big year.

Going there made sense. I'm sure he already knew Ron Hunter from his time at IUPUI. I think Hunters last year there was Hollowells Junior year.

Hollowell actually showed some flashes in his limited minutes. Kid had great vision and was actually an alright rebounder at the time. I never said he was going to be amazing but would have been good for about 15-20 minutes a game. Just because you start doesn't mean you have to play 30 minutes. Normally it's who finishes that matters. I just said he should have started. Because it wouldn't have been bad for him. That's a massive confidence booster and would be huge to play with Yogi, Vic, Watford and Zeller. Plus when he came in off the bench, he was thrown right into the post. Obviously was not his comfort spot. But I'd say it has been incredibly normal for Crean to play players away from their strengths.

I know a lot of people will say they need to be focusing on defense. Which is very true. It needs to get so much better. But there is something that doesn't ever get brought up. Paying attention to detail. That's on defense and offense. Close outs on shooters, playing the passing lanes, sliding your feet, crisp passes, hard cuts, great screens etc. The coaches should be constantly in the ears of the players about paying attention to detail. Gotta form those habits in practice so they'll carry over to the game.

Yes. He was just fine his freshman. And there were much better ways to use him. Like not throwing him in the post.

And so is Hollowell? Obviously Harrison Barnes is much better but it is still comparable.
