You're speaking as if Bobby Knight is still around and it's 1984. Well it isn't. The one and done era needs to be embraced by this coaching staff(if it is around long enough). No reason to shy away from great players. No reason Indiana isn't recruiting the absolute best of the best. That is what's put Indiana where it is now. Not being able to recruit the best and that started with Knight not being able to change and keep up in the mid 90's.

we've seen what he's been able to do knowing who is leaving. He knew Zeller, Oladipo, Hulls, Watford and Elston were gone... and then we missed the NIT. If he has a great year this year and then a crap year after that... it won't matter if we win the title this year.. he's fired.

You can get 4 and stars who will stay 4 years. We did have Christian Watford. Kyle Singler for Duke was a Top 10 recruit and stayed 4 years. But nowadays you just gotta go with the kids that'll be there for 1, 2 or 3 years. And really 3 years is the new 4 because you can get a degree in 3.

Well to be honest I don't care about getting 3 stars who will stay 4 years if we're pulling in a bunch of 4 and 5 stars. Roster turnover is ok when you're successful and those kids are leaving for the NBA like Duke, Kentucky and Kansas. I'd like to actually see us sign a couple McD's AA's in one year. We almost did with Lyles and Blackmon and I think those two backing out(Blackmon did stay with us) hurt a bit. Lyles would have been big time for us. But we won't be great if the defense is so terrible again. And there is ho estly nothing at all that says it'll be any better other than just hope.

I like championships and Final Fours. Bo Ryan has been to 2 FF's and 1 title game... 3 elite 8's... and the rest have been 1st, 2nd and and a couple Sweet 16 exits. I want Indiana to have UK's. If we have to start going after a bunch of one and dones then so be it. If Coach K can change and do then I think we can. It isn't the 80's anymore. Gotta change with the times.

Well I never said you didn't have to play defense but the name of the game is scoring as much as you can. But 90% of defense is effort and we didn't get that from anyone this past season.

Well ask yourself this... Do we want Wisconsin success or Kentucky success? You can hate on Kentucky all you want but they've been to 4 Final Fours and an Elite 8 under Calipari plus the championship. They just went 38-1. They only lost 2 games during AD's freshman year. Or look at Kansas who has won the Big 12 what? 11 or 12 times straight now? I'd like for Indiana to be at that height. Not where Wisconsin is. And same goes for their playstyle. I wouldn't watch if IU played like that. Not how basketball should be played.

I'd never say we're a Mid-Major cause we're still in the B1G. But we are not and elite program. Elite programs are in the tops in recruiting every year. We aren't up there with UK, KU, Duke, UNC or Zona right now. Those 5 of your top programs and I'd say we're quite a bit behind all of them. Can that change? Well yea. But not by recruiting 1 top 25 player every year.

your simple things would be an actual brand rebranding. Like switching from Adidas to Under Armour(UA passed Adidas in the US last year). Moving towards pretty much anything that will pull in players now. We have to be able to stay with the times. Instead of thinking "This is Indiana and we play this type of basketball"... Knight isn't around anymore obviously.

it's not a bad thing to rebrand. You can still change it up while honoring tradition. I'm 21. I started paying actually paying attention when I started playing in the 2nd grade which was also the year we played Maryland in the title game.. but other than a few seasons there hasn't been much success in my life. And the kids coming in are all now a few years younger than me. Not to disrespect the greats of the past but we need to start making it about now. It seems like we're trying to stay in the 80's or something

I'd say we do need a rebranding. Simply because it's been 20+ years since we've been great. It doesn't have have to be anything crazy but some modernization in the program could really help with recruiting now. Gotta have talent to win. Gotta recruit big to get the talent.

how is it that the women's game is moving along quicker than the men's? They had the combining media TO's and team TO's if within 30 seconds. They got the 30 second shot clock before and now this. I bet they'll have a 24 second shot clock before the do as well. Men's committee needs to take some notes!

I went to the Indiana - Maryland game this year and noticed two big problems for Indiana. Size and athleticism. Indiana beyond needs it. While Maryland had both of their guards at 5-10+ we had Buss and Brooks at 5-5 and 5-7. Obviously Buss is the best player but we need some height around her. The lack of size and athleticism just makes that defense so poor too.

Does the NCAA not yet have NBA goals? Those are impossible to shatter. And when was the last you saw a shattered backboard in a game? And most players don't try to rip the rim off during warm ups. There really is no reason to not let kids dunk.
