Historic turn around for defense?

We also had Yogi, Gordon, Will and Stan putting in the effort on the perimeter. There just wasn't any effort last year. It was an embarrassment of a season. -
Historic turn around for defense?

Our defense had to stay a step back? Our perimeter defense just stayed out of the way. It was a joke. We could have had Dikembe in the paint and our perimeter defense would have sucked. It wasn't a matter of how they played defense last year, it was that they didn't play defense. -

I'm going to say that he may be fired even if he finishes Top 5 and gets to the 2nd round of the tourney. I would be ok with that. Go out just like Mike Davis. -

that doesn't make any sense. He got interested because our defense is awful? -

that would help. But you know for a fact Crean isn't going to change. Because he actually thinks it works. Guess he doesn't watch film... -

Except that doesn't help our perimeter defense. If I were Bryant I would have been questioning Crean about the defense because it can put Bryant in such terrible situations. I felt bad for Hanner because he had no help from the perimeter guys. -

I'd say 13th isn't too bad in the NBA compared to last on one of the worst defensive teams in the country. This team will need an epic switch on defense for this team to even be a legit B1G title contender and even make a Sweet Sixteen. -

CP3 is arguably the best defensive PG in the NBA. Yogi was one of the worst out of the Power 5 conferences. Yogi was really bad. Everyone was really bad. There are no passes when it was that bad. -

so we're just going to give Yogi the James Harden and Kyrie Irving excuse? How about do both like a Chris Paul? There is no excuse to be as bad at defense as Yogi was. It's just effort. No one on the team put the effort in that was needed. -

Our perimeter defense is the biggest question. Yogi, JBJ, RJ, Nick and Troy were just awful. Certain lineups can help out IMO(like never having Yogi, JBJ and RJ on the floor at the same time). We'll see if the coaching staff is just insane or if they'll actually figure it out and make a change. -
But Cody and Watford could hold down the fort a bit. Look at the massive difference between Troy and Watford. That's 2 inches and 30-40 pounds. Troy just can't hold that spot. That's all there is to it. Troy is soooo much smaller than Wat was. We also had Vic.. we tried playing Rob in that spot.. not going to work. Vic was 6-5 and Rob is at best 6-3. Plus Vic had the strength, speed and shoulders to play that spot. As far as we know RJ isn't on the planet as Vic in athleticism or even galaxy. RJ is very under the rim. Size hurts this team if the same lineup is used as last year.

Would Thon stay the "planned" 1 1/2 years?

I liked Blackwell when I first saw some of his videos as like freshman. -

What SF'S are we still after? -
Him starting over Troy means that Troy is again playing out of position out of pure stupidity from the coaching staff. There is no reason Troy plays the 4 when we have Colin, Holt and Morgan who will be able top handle that spot so much better.

I'd say it would be best for Thon. He'll not only be missing a summer in a college weight room but also half a season to get used to a team. Good chance he doesn't start right away. He wouldn't be a top pick if he left after that half year. That extra year would almost be like his freshman year. -

I don't think it is exactly Thon's plan more as the plan set by the coaches. -
if we'd be thinking about him starting over Troy then our lineup is already screwed up.

What about Bryants boy Bridges too? -

If Bryant stays then it'd obviously be big time if Thon stays as well. The SF spot we'd still have OG but would obviously need another. The other two positions(PG and SG) would have to be filled though possibly with only RJ returning in the backcourt. -
Warriors still won 50+ games. But the East is on the rise. Better win a bunch while possible.

Then go after Bill Self, Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy or something. Oh well I guess.

I like beating Michigan. And we consistently do actually. -
I thought they should have went after Scott Brooks. He was in /Seattle/OKC for the good and bad years. Did great with young upcoming players. Magic have Vic, Payton and Vucevic. That team had good talent.... but I do think it is a bad hire... guess we'll see.
