  The issue is deeper than that.

I'm so tired of seeing "it's common place" as an excuse for kids that get busted with dope. You know what isn't common place? Playing basketball for IU. You know how many kids grow up in the state of Indiana with that dream? How many HS seniors that will never play organized basketball again after their last HS game would give anything to be in those candy stripes? I don't care what your personal stance is on the substance as a player at IU you have to understand that you aren't the common college student. You are held to a higher standard. It is against the rules and you must act accordingly. If you can't do something as simple as saying no to weed when given this great and rewarding opportunity at IU you need to look in the mirror and re-evaluate yourself as a person. I'm sure some will call me boring, a square, or whatever. At the end of the day anything worth having involves some sacrifice. In this particular case not having weed in your damn room.

I just wish these guys knew the minute you signed that letter of intent you consented to not living the normal "college lifestyle". You are under a microscope. There are just some things you don't get to have the luxury of experiencing. I played small time college football and I was scared to death of getting caught doing anything that would get me in trouble so I avoided it. This eve goes to something as small as skipping one class......I can't even imagine how paranoid I would have been if I was playing big time D1 haha.
