Okay...help me. We're talking about recruiting shooters, but referring to freshman stats is somehow the wrong direction? Again...use your brain. Context matters. You dish it out, be prepared to take it. I wasn't condescending to you or even talking to you. Who started that? You...or me? But you BLAME me and then call me childish. Got it. Pot..meet kettle. (And this isn't the first time. History matters, too) You just made my point with your Archie quote. He surprised as a shooter which means he wasn't recruited as a shooter. Your comments about Yogi are laughable. You can twist what you meant in every post from here on out if you want to. You changed the conversation from shooter to scorer to fit your point Do you need me to list for you the things I've been right about? Again, I'll ask you....did you use your brain to post the above, or just use it as another opportunity to be critical of me? I think we both know the answer, so I'll keep firing back at you as long as you'd like to continue the tete a tete. -

Are you referring to Fitzner? Guy averaged 4 points a game at St. Mary's. I don't think expectations were that high. -

Truth serum : Did you post this with your brain or just to be critical of me again? Because this is idiotic. Sorry...it is. You really believe a 6'7" 215 guy who had over 720 rebounds in high school is going to be used as (and was recruited to be) a shooter? And how in the world do you know - seriously - that he is a "great" shooter? Says who? Did you exercise even an ounce of reason in this post? Here is a line pulled directly from one of his recruiting pages : "A powerful front court player who has the ability to score around the rim. He can slash and on occasion step out to hit the 3 point shot." What about that description, or ANYthing you know (your eyes work, right?) about Archie's offense tells you Hunter will be the shooter we're missing? Come on, man. I know you don't like me and I couldn't care less, but use your brain before you post trash like this. Great shooter?? Wow. Yogi was a "shooter?" That's what you believe? Is that why he shot 30% from the 3 point line as a freshman? Yes...he became a shooter, but you seriously can't be dumb enough to believe that was his primary role, even as a senior. His job for the first 3 years he was at Indiana was to run the offense, and yeah, he was a scorer (Morgan is a scorer....Romeo is a scorer. They are not shooters. There is a difference and you are now intertwining the two roles to make whatever point you're tying to make), but he MADE himself a shooter. He could make the three pretty consistently by the time he was a senior; but he was not brought to Indiana to be a shooter. At least not in the context of this discussion. You can nit pick it all you want, and your condescending tone is once again completely devoid of reason. -

I don't think he recruited Hunter to be a shooter. Damezi is fine against Jacksonville. There's a reason he didn't play against Michigan. He's not the answer..... Phinisee is a point guard. He's not the answer, either. Those guys can all shoot, but they aren't the shooters this offense needs. Neither is Morgan, for example. He can make the shot, but he's not someone for whom a defense has to account or game plan against out there. I'm not talking about guys who will make 25 three-pointers in a season. I'm talking about players who can make 70. -

Truth hurts. Our offense is bad early in games. There's no other way to say that. Our offense is generally kinda' stagnant for stretches in most games, and Archie isn't recruiting shooters. That baffles me because that's his missing piece. The rest is just funny. -

Hello, stalker. Back again, I see. Exaggerate much? I wonder how many of your posts are about other posters vs. adding any kind of content at all? What...90% or so? Good grief. Please go away. Or add something. Sometime. For the love of God and all things holy. Please. Oh, and by the way, anyone complimenting his defense? Watch him let his guy basically walk down the middle of the lane for a wide open layup. Newsflash : McRoberts is worthless this season. -

DeRon has been slow all year anyway. Over/Under on Green turnovers is 3.5 Over/Under on Green bad shots is 5.5 Over/Under on Green possessions given away is therefore 9. Takers? -

I would submit between his own turnovers and bad shots, he gives away at least as many possessions as he takes back. I think if Archie had another option, he'd use it. I'm shocked he's not recruiting more guards and shooters. -

DeVonte Green to me is like finger-painting. Just...a mess all over the place, and no structure whatsoever. How he hasn't (seemingly) learned one thing in 3 years about being a good team mate just baffles me. It's almost like he makes a couple of decent passes, then says "okay, it's my turn," and throws up some garbage of a shot. Given his shot selection and propensity for turnovers, I truly believe he is a net-negative for this basketball team as often as a net positive. To back that statement up a bit.. In conference games in which he's played, or non conference against decent opponents he is a combined 13-37 from the floor with 17 assists and 15 turnovers. -
Absolutely agree. What I don't get are the number of NFL players allowed to return inside of a week from hits far more violent (and I know that has no bearing) than the glancing blow Rob took; yet trainers are far more careful with college kids. Is it an indictment that I believe the money involved plays a factor?

What did you possibly see out of the kid that excites you? He has a weak arm, slow feet in the pocket, and he's inaccurate beyond 10-15 yards. Seriously, man....Ramsey is what he is. He's very, very average as a quarterback. All of you that love to sling blame other directions make me question what you're watching. Fact : Peyton Ramsey was 93rd of 129 FBS schools in yards per attempt. More than five yards behind the top 2 and 2 yards behind the top 20. How you place zero blame on him for that is simply laughable. He is captain check down. Why? Because he can''t make the throws down the field consistently.
-
You're the only person on Earth who thinks this, Mr. Ramsey. Happy New Year.
-
If good for Peyton Ramsey means he will be the 2nd or 3rd guy...then yes. We have seen what Ramsey can do. We are a 5-7 team with him. At best,

Stevie Boy Wonder Fired at UCLA

See, I don't hear him trashing former players at all. I listen nearly every day at least for a little bit. Do you have examples of who he's trashed? I simply haven't heard that, and in fact go so far as to say he goes out of his way to credit former players, and was one who was big time in the camp to get Wittman or Smart interviews at Indiana. He was hard on Leary when he got involved in his criminal activity; and should have. But who else? Serious question. -

1) I would bet anything I own he's happy to be divested of the Ball family. 2) I see some real vitriol toward Steve here and I don't get it. Dakich is known to frequently say no school eats its own like Indiana. He may be right. -

I don't think you can paint with this broad brush about referees/officials or whatever word you apply to them. They officiate, therefore, they are "officials." I've coached for 22 years. Most of them have been great to work with and talk to. Most have no ego. Most are there for the kids; and many officiate basketball, baseball, and football as well. Above there is a comment about this position being "inconsequential." Really? Okay then; other than first responders, "trauma surgeon," "teacher," "for "suicide prevention specialist;" what jobs ARE consequential? If not someone who's there entirely for the benefit of other people while having to listen to every disillusioned parent b!tch about his every move while making (after travel expenses) very little money; then who? Lawyers? Insurance agents? Accountants? Are there bad referees? Yep. Are a few on a power trip? I suppose. But...think back to the games when officials have become confrontational. When they've become animated (in a bad way) or had their radars up. Generally speaking, the game itself, the people around it, and yeah...parents have been the ones creating that environment. Think about a high school game. How many people involved in that game are there almost exclusively and specifically for the benefit of the kids playing in that game? The coaches are there most of the time for the kids, but also for their own jobs. They want to win, and the kids on that particular team are their tools that season. Parents have agendas. They just do. Officials? If you think their motivation is extra money, you're just not informed about what they make. ($75 for a football game and many drive 50 miles + and a Friday night starts for them at 5:30 when they arrive and ends about 10:00. Taking into account travel time and expenses, you can do the math) Making fun of the uniform they are required to wear? Really? And putting all of them into the same category? Really? Why single out the people HERE who referee and assume everyone ELSE doing that job is an incompetent boob on a power trip? When you walk into any room, there is someone in charge whose job it is to make sure whatever goes on in that room takes the shape and form it's supposed to. In a basketball gym, those people are the referees. Like it or not. If they reacted to every BS thing they heard (many profane and more of them highly personal), they'd be institutionalized. WAY too many people put themselves above the fray and sling insults at groups of people with no bearing or basis. You know why officiating seems to be getting worse? Same reasons politicians are getting worse. Who wants the job? What moron would walk into a gym and listen to Mrs. Johnson, who doesn't know the rules from Moby Dick scream personal insults for an hour and a half? How many of us here would do a job for little money when all the feedback we get is negative and people with agendas are playing vocal judge and jury for the entirety of the work day? I would encourage anyone who's b!tching about them without experience to give it a shot. Then come back here and vitriolically insult them. You either respect the position and their responsibility or you don't. If you don't, you're the problem. Not the solution. And no. I have never officiated a game of any kind save a little league baseball game 20 years ago. -

Incorrect. I was not aware of Adidas' backing of Kanye. But good guess. (My answer was Under Armour. Who do they back?) -

I don't like big companies that make political statements through sports and entertainment. Nike is a behemoth and Indiana is no more important to them than any other school would be. Adidas has treated Indiana like a very important client for the entirety of their sponsorship of Indiana going back to the 1970's. Generally though, I watch and follow sports to get away from politics and "news." Nike does way too much political activism for my taste. -
